Important Aromatherapy should be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy. You should avoid sunbeds, saunas, steam baths, and waxing for approx. 24 hours after treatment. If you have high blood pressure, hypotension, thyroid disease or diabetes; please have a chat with your doctor before booking in. As part of the healing and balancing processes, Aromatherapy encourages the elimination of toxins from the body – this may be evidenced by increased urination and/or bowel movements – or even a headache. If you have unfavourable reactions such as sneezing, nausea, localized wheals or rashes you should discontinue the treatment immediately. These types of reactions can be avoided if known allergies and medical conditions are disclosed prior to treatment, hence the importance of completing your consultation honestly. Immediately after your treatment, you may feel very relaxed and sleepy and just want to go home and lie down. This is perfectly ok - unless of course you have to go to work…☺

Aromatherapy treatments have both physiological and psychological effects. The medicinal and therapeutic properties of the essential oils can be inhaled (aromas) and absorbed (through the skin when combined with holistic massage) with cumulative benefit. Depending on the choice of oil the overall effect can be soothing, calming, uplifting, revitalizing, motivating, stimulating, mentally clarifying or rejuvenating and it can also give a boost to the immune system. In summary form the benefits are as below: • Stress is believed to be a major cause of physical illness, so by reducing tension and improving blood and nerve supply, Aromatherapy can contribute to an improvement in general health. • Aromatherapy can reduce feelings of grief, depression and despair. • Improves circulation; • Helps restore balance in the body; • Stimulates the immune system; • Enhance lymphatic drainage, in turn reducing fluid retention and preventing oedema. • Increases energy levels by decongesting the nerves
