What are Sisterlocks ?
s a licensed Professional, I am monitored by the US
TM
Sisterlocks are micro-sized uniform locks created as a result of a precision parting grid, and the use of a patented tool that helps weave individual strands of hair into the desired locking framework.
office, regulated by a legal code of conduct and offer isterlocksTM as a package of 3 visits.
First Visit: The Consultation This consultation is an essential step, ensuring that TM you get the most out of your Sisterlocks experience. During this session we will discuss your personal hair care history, your styling preferences and your TM lifestyle in order to determine whether Sisterlocks are right for you. You should use this session to ask as many questions as possible. You will be given a hair assessment and I will install a number of “test locs” which will be reviewed at a later date to confirm appropriate sizing and patterns.
Second Visit: The Locking Session Usually scheduled about 2 wks after your consultation, the locking session can take approx. 15 hours so bring a good book or a DVD. The average TM Sisterlocks customer will leave this session with 350- 450 locks and a whole new attitude! You’ll TM receive an official Sisterlocks “Starter Kit” to help your locs settle in. Be sure to schedule your follow-up visit before you leave as good maintenance is the key TM to gorgeous Sisterlocks over time.
TM
The Sisterlocks method does not require the use of waxes or gels. It’s just me & your hair.
How do Sisterlocks TM
TM
differ from other types of locs?
Sisterlocks differ from traditional cultivated locs by the technique used to start and maintain them and also by the TM sizing and placement of the individual locs. The Sisterlocks method uses a precise parting grid, and a tool to produce small easily styled loc. We do not use locking waxes, gels, creams or TM hair extensions; Sisterlocks is quite simply an interwoven framework designed to naturally encourage and support the locking process in tightly textured hair.
Are Sisterlocks
TM
permanent?
The short answer is ‘yes’. However, with a lot of patience and skill, they can be removed during the first 6 months after TM installation. If removal is a serious concern, maybe Sisterlocks are not for you or maybe you’re just not ready yet... TM
Can my Hairdresser start my Sisterlocks ? TM
The Sisterlocks method is trademarked and you should also visit a licensed professional (Certified Consultant or Consultant Trainee) in order to guarantee the best possible experience and authentic results.
How long will it take to start my TM Sisterlocks ? The "Initial Locking Session" can take approx. 15 hours. This varies according to the length & density, depth of your curl pattern and size of your head. A more accurate estimate will be given at your consultation.
What to Expect at Retightening Appointments: Retightening appointments are normally scheduled at 4 to 8 week intervals and take an average of 3 hours. Your new growth will be set into your locking pattern, progress monitored & any potential issues sorted out. If not corrected, some issues can lead to weak, breaking or misshapen locs: You may find the nape area or your edges difficult to lock due to a looser texture; or perhaps you’ve sprouted enough hair to form new locs - these can be tended to during specific Hairline appointments designed to groom and nurture your precious ‘edges
What about the Costs? TM
Let’s keep it real, Sisterlocks are more expensive to start than other traditional and DIY methods of locking. However, if you are willing to make that investment you will walk out with a head-turning hairstyle that personifies and enhances your natural beauty.
TM
Have I got the right hair type right for Sisterlocks ?
Third Visit: The Follow –Up You will need to schedule your follow-up visit after at least one shampooing, which is usually within one month from the time you first get your locks put in. I will monitor the integrity of your locs, tighten them up and give you an idea of how long the settling-in process is likely to take. We can also begin discussing styling tips for the “total look” that’s right for you! To book or for more information about any of our treatments please visit the website or call me.
As long as your hair is curly, kinky or otherwise tightly textured it is the right type for SisterlocksTM. SisterlocksTM Consultants are trained in several "locking patterns", and will choose the one which is right for your hair based on a personal assessment. TM
How long must my hair be to start Sisterlocks ? For fully natural hair a min of 3” will give greater stability especially if you have a loose curl pattern, so if you’ve recently big chopped you may have to wait a bit longer. If you are transitioning from a relaxer or perm, you’ll need 1.5-2 inches of new growth. You do NOT need to cut off your permed ends before you start Sisterlocking. Generally, the longer your hair, the easier your baby locs will be for you to manage at home during the crucial early stages.
Installations A ball park figure for an installation is £375. Some heads will cost less and some more based on the length and density of the client’s hair.
Maintenance Retightening sessions can cost between £50 and £75 depending on duration and location. Please call 07957 630186 for the latest prices.
