Why is CBSE the most preferred board for students targeting JEE? There are 13 major boards in India, all equipping students for a brighter future – some more than the others. State Boards are directed by State Governments and often impart education in local language. They are considered easier than the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and ICSE board. CBSE, a Board of Education for public and private schools, under the Union Government of India, focuses on Science subjects and Mathematics whereas CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations), a private, non-governmental board of school education, (in ICSE and ISC) emphasizes on each subject especially English. Of the varied options available in the country, CBSE has become the preferred choice of many, and the latest trend unveils that if you hail from the CBSE board your chances of clearing JEE are higher than a student who belongs to any other Board. This does not mean that a CBSE student will find his way to the top of the merit list, it simply means that the the CBSE student may only get a head start while preparing for competitive exams, in particular – JEE(engineering) and AIPMT(pre-medical). CBSE has surfaced through the crowd of available options and is getting more recognition with students preparing for competitive examinations. The question to be answered is – what is so special about the CBSE that it produces a large percentage of students that clear the intimidating engineering and pre-medical exams. Aligned with JEE pattern The CBSE course structure is based more on reasoning and analytical abilities rather than memorizing facts – a knack vital to succeed in cutthroat exams like IIT –JEE (Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examinations), AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) and AIPMT(All India Pre Medical Test). Moreover, NCERT books are not only used for CBSE board but also exams like JEE, thereby providing advantage to students at an early stage. Wide Reach It enjoys geographical advantage as the numbers of schools affiliated to CBSE are more than 9,000 in India and abroad (in about 21 countries including Malaysia, Dubai etc). Its reach is small towns and cities has increased the number of competitive exam applicants, thereby increasing the odds of students cracking these exams. Focus on Mathematics and Science The board focuses more towards Science and Maths which suits engineering and premedical aspirants quite well. Some Boards, including West Bengal board make it compulsory for students to take up a second language, in addition to English. This diverts the students’ attention for Board and competitive exams preparation. CBSE schooling provides modules and curriculum that trains and equips students to perform in competitive exams. It attracts extensive pool of creditable students from India and across the globe. It is safe to say that CBSE is and will continue to be the better alternative and preferred choice for many students.
