I think this is evidenced mainly in my essay as well as within my visual journal.

I am not sure if I have evidenced this much, if at all as I have struggled to understand using and finding these sorts of texts.

I have definitely struggled with organizing this project and have struggled to get much done of a high standard.

COP is not an easy module for me and it was no easier this year than it was in first year. I have a hard time understanding what is being asked of me and I never really seem to know what is happening until it is too late. I also find it hard to ask for help, however I don’t feel I have been offered much help when I have asked.

At first I really struggled to get into this module and it took me a long time to develop a question I thought I would find interesting enough to research and write about. After attending two study skills sessions I settled on a question and started writing. Once I began writing I actually really enjoyed it and found researching it very interesting and I am now planning to carry on this question into a similar one for COP3.

I feel that through the extensive research that went into the writing of my essay, I discovered lots about how technology and digital software has had an effect on traditional methods like painting. I think I could have gone into a bit more detail, however it was rather hard to find many quotes and sources that discussed things similar to my question and I would definitely like to look at it in further detail some time.

I enjoyed making my sketchbook as I tend to do more detailed work so it was fun for me to do these simple little cartoons. I really enjoyed coming up with the little scenarios and jokes in them. I also enjoyed working thinking about line and shape, it was also fun using a limited palette of mainly black with hints of colour. I also had fun experimenting with different compositions and creating characters. Although I don’t think my book shows my skills as an artist, I am pleased with what I did and I think it illustrates my question well and works with the themes in the essay. It was nice to do something fun alongside the seriousness of the essay.

A few of my classmates commented that they enjoyed looking through my book as the cartons made them laugh and they understood what my COP2 theme was without reading my essay or being told.

I think I could have spent a lot more time on COP, especially the study tasks, as I left some of them too late and was unable to do them in the end as I didn’t understand them. I feel like I could do with someone to explain the tasks/sketchbook/module in general to me separately to the rest of the class, as I have aspergers and struggle to understand verbal and written instructions and sometimes need them explaining and simplifying for me to get what is actually happening. I may have to ask for this kind of help in third year as I do not want to struggle in the same way as I did this year.

I don’t think for me it is organization that is the main problem, I think if I understood what was going on in the very beginning I would get on with the essay and the tasks and the sketchbook straight away as I don’t like doing things too close to the deadline, but I have ended up working closer to the deadline than I had wanted

to as it has been hard for me to understand what COP2 actually was. I know that sounds really stupid and I should probably just ask for help but for me, asking for help is harder than just struggling along by myself. I think this is something that needs to change however, and it is something that will definitely have to change before third year.

At the end of the module I feel a little disappointed with myself and the amount of work I have done for COP2, however I am proud of myself for completing a 3,000 word essay and a 70 page sketchbook of comics that make me smile.

I think I can apply what COP2 has taught me to all my modules and just everything in life really as I have learnt that I will find things much harder if I don’t ask for help and I need to understand that it is okay to ask for help and I should just ask instead of making things harder for myself.
