KOLB’s label-free rinse aids – The finishing touch for a spotless shine KOLB’s low foaming, label-free, nonionic surfactant portfolio for rinse aids shows outstanding rinsing performance. From now on, no dish will be left without a clean, dry, and spotless shine! The new, recommended pro-ducts are: • Imbentin™-SG/48/C • Greenbentin™-SG/854/AG • Greenbentin™-SG/845/AG Visit the seminar on Thursday, October 16, in hall 2 at 10:15 a.m. by KOLB’s specialist, Dr. Kaoru Tachikawa, Group Leader Application.
How to formulate label-free surfactants while keeping the performance After June 2015, the full implementation of regulation 1272/2008 on classification, labelling, and packaging (CLP) will have a considerable impact on how the standard home care products are labelled. Instead of being classified as an irritant or a harmful product, a large portion of cleaning goods will be classified as corrosive. This change will negatively influence end-customer buying decisions in home care. Therefore, a key-topic in the industry is to reformulate established products by replacing old workhorses with new label-free surfactants. We focus our work on how to employ our label-free surfactants to achieve top performance. Visit the seminar on Friday, October 17, in hall 2 at 11:45 a.m. by KOLB’s expert, Ms. Nina Kalsberger, Application Chemist.
About KOLB KOLB is a midsize company with a lean and flexible organisation with 50 years’ experience in producing nonionic surfactants. Since 2007, KOLB has been part of the Malaysian multinational KLK (Kuala Lumpur Kepong Berhad). This merger strengthened the company considerably and opened up many new possibilities. Article 108

STRUKTOL® antifoams for detergents and cleaning agents Schill + Seilacher, partner of Alsiano, supplies a product portfolio of antifoams, which can be used particularly in washing and cleaning applications for e.g. laundry or floor washing By Schill + Seilacher Schill + Seilacher is a company which produces process additives and auxiliaries for a wide range of food and non-food industries. The rich wealth of experience includes a product portfolio for the detergent and cleaning agent area. During end-use application, high active washing detergents can cause massive foam formation which can influence the cleaning application adversely. The challenge is to control the foam generation by using antifoam agents. It is not always recommended to knock down the foam in cleaning applications, so low performing antifoam agents can be an option. The diagram below shows antifoam agents with different performance levels in water and non-ionic detergent mixture. Figure 1: Antifoam performance in water and non-ionic detergent mixture
Tested STRUKTOL ®-antifoam products • STRUKTOL® W-6000: siloxanebased multi-component system • STRUKTOL® SB 2071: siliconebased and white oil-free multicomponent system • STRUKTOL® SB 2077: silicone- and white oil-based multi-component system • STRUKTOL® SB 1110 B: white oil-based and silicone-free multicomponent system The STRUKTOL® antifoam products meet a wide range of requirements and applications and are optional also available in silicone- and mineral oilfree forms. All products are certified by accredited institutes. Because the antifoam agents have been used for many decades in the food industry as main market, the products demonstrate high standard of quality and purity. This ensures the best product safety for end customers. Article 109

Nature derived viscosity solutions Household detergent powders: achieve cost benefits with CMC with improved anti-redeposition performance By Ugur Seluloz Kimya. Rheolon®, Rheoflo®, Viscolose® and USK® are the brands of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) developed and manufactured by Ugur Seluloz Kimya, having two production sites in Turkey. Each product group is designed to respond to specific requirements from the industry for which they are developed. Diversified product qualities not only meet the individual customer expectations, but they also provide a background for further product development or improvements. Available in different viscosity, particle size distribution and other chemical characteristics, the CMC product groups from Ugur find use in different industries such as paper, ceramics, textile, water based coating and adhesives, mineral flotation, food, drilling and many others. Household detergent powder has been one of the most traditional uses of CMC since it was first produced. However, this traditional and old application has so far been overlooked due to tough competition and cost pressures as well as establishment of more interesting application areas. Ugur has recently launched a new approach to this application area focusing on anti-redeposition performance improvement thus enabling cost benefits.
Individual and tailor-made product solutions are studied and designed in the RDA (Research, Development and Application) laboratory based on the end user’s input about their processes, performance and cost expectations, and a commercial production is developed. Article 110 About Ugur Seluloz Kimya Ugur Seluloz Kimya A.S., established in 2001, is a leading Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose & Polyanionic Cellulose manufacturer, located in Turkey. The company is also one of the key players in the global markets, having sales across the world in different industries in which the CMC and PAC products are used. Since the establishment, USK has been growing in production capabilities and sales together with the customers and continues product development for meeting the challenging as well as the dynamic market demand. As well as the development, consistent product quality and maintaining a standard of quality control procedures, being an environmentally responsible manufacturer and taking the safety measurements are other key principles at USK. The company is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
