Lindsay’s top 3 tipS
for new & experienced cardmakers!
INSIDE: How to deal with “crafter’s block” & crafting boo-boos
Lindsay Weirich Artist
1. Tell us about yourself. My name is Lindsay Weirich. I’m a mixed-media artist living in Maine. 2. What is your crafting story? I have always been making something from stool using scraps of wood in my father’s workshop to crafts with my mom and drawing and painting. It’s always been a way of life and a source of entertainment. 3. What is your “why”? I teach to inspire and share. I create to bring some magic into my daily life. I paint to give my mind a rest from the anxieties of the world. 4. Which project has been your favorite, or what was the most meaningful to make? Whatever my next project is. I don’t tend to think about old projects after they are done and sent. I am much more interested in what I will try next! 5. How would you describe your personal crafting style? It’s bright, feminine, colorful and happy. 6. Where do you find inspiration? Nature mostly, especially in the summertime! I am also inspired by new products and mixing them with my old products for new ideas. I like looking at other artists’ work. I also find that just being in other surroundings can help you get inspired; taking a day trip, going to the movies, etc.

7. What advice would you give newbie crafters and watercolor enthusiasts out there? Please give at least three. 1. Start with a limited supply of products and get to know them. 2. Practicing drawing, it will help you in any art discipline. 3. Practice collage, it will teach you strong composition. 4. Don’t expect perfection, it doesn’t exist. 8. If you can only do one watercolor technique for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? What is this, “Sophie’s Choice”? I can’t answer that! LOL! 9. How do you deal with “crafter’s block” or being stuck in a rut? I clean and organize my supplies, which usually sparks something. I will grab random supplies, set a timer for 10 minutes, and just play with them. I will read an art book. I’ll call a crafty friend to talk about art. 10. How do you deal with crafting/watercoloring mistakes? Easy - stick an embellishment over the mistake if it is a card and add some splatter if it is a painting! I also use watercolor ground as “white out” on paintings sometimes.

11. What is your Altenew story? How did you first learn about Altenew, your first Altenew product, blog hop, etc. I was sent some Altenew stamps and inks from a store. They were layered roses and so dainty and pretty. I have had a lot of fun with those over the years! 12. What is your all-time favorite Altenew product? Pick one! Alcohol markers 13. Please tell us a fun/quirky/interesting fact about you that most people don’t know about. I can juggle. 14. Bonus Question: If you could create your “dream craft room,” what would it look like? Probably like the one I have now but above ground with lots of natural light and a sink!
