Life's ‘Seasons’ – Although I never met Ann Napier, working with her family and Cygnus, I can see how she has inspired and touched the hearts of those around her. It is always sad when a beautiful light passes. My love to the ‘Cygnus’ family. On a personal note, I recently visited a sustainable farm in Umbria, Italy. It was the most profound connection to nature and self I have ever had.Total and utter bliss. In that moment I knew why I was here, and what I am called to do. Everyday I ask myself how can we step up and connect more for now is a time to move away from the ‘them and us’, mindset, for when we fight we fight ourselves and when we love ourselves we love the whole. So let's connect more. Mary Daniels Co-director @theconscioushub

One of the great blessings of my role is that I know and meet many inspiring people. One such person was Ann Napier, the co-founder of Cygnus Books who have been key friends of Alternatives for many years, selling books at our major events. Ann passed over in early July after a long illness.Thank you Ann for all that you gave us. We send our love to Ann’s husband, Geoff and her two sons, Sam and John. Her passing has reminded me how precious this life is and to give thanks daily for my own family, my wife and two young sons, my friends and my community. I am deeply grateful for the wider family of Alternatives, our speakers, our collaborators and everyone who attends our events. Thank you all. Richard Dunkerley Co-director @R_Dunkerley

Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does – William James

Q+A What has been the biggest learning in your life? The most important lesson that I’ve learned in my life was to turn inward for my peace. The difficult times in my life were a catalyst for establishing a great inner awareness and power. My inner connection informs my path in life. What are you most grateful for? I am most grateful for my beautiful family and my incredible husband. The people who are closest to me offer me daily spiritual growth opportunities and a heightened experience of authentic joy.

Gabrielle Bernstein is the author of May Cause Miracles and Miracles Now. How did you come to be on your current path? As a child I was brought up in a very supportive spiritual environment. My mother brought me to ashrams, personal growth seminars and meditation retreats. Then in my early twenties I turned my back on my spiritual upbringing. I chose to search for my happiness and self-worth outside of myself. I looked for it in my career credentials, my romantic relationships and my social status. In a short period of time I became addicted to the outside world. This outside search led me to crash and I became addicted to drugs, alcohol and the New York City party scene. At the age of twenty-five, I hit bottom. This bottom was a turning point. I believe that when we realise that the outside search doesn’t work, we are guided to turn inward. I did just that. I turned to my spiritual roots and realigned with the tools I was taught as an adolescent. I picked up my meditation practice and I became a student and teacher of the metaphysical text A Course in Miracles and Kundalini yoga. For the past decade I have been on a radical journey inward, unlearning fear and remembering love.

Who have been your most significant teachers? My great spiritual teachers are Marianne Williamson and Gurmukh Khalsa Kaur. Marianne introduced me to A Course in Miracles and Gurmukh taught me to become a Kundalini yoga and meditation teacher. What are the most common challenges experienced by the people you work with? The greatest challenges that my audiences experience are romantic relationships, financial fear and insecurity and negative self-perceptions. All of these issues stem from deep rooted fear. My work is designed to help people release the fear that blocks them from their freedom. What advice would you offer to our audience? Meditate. Through stillness you can realign with your greatest source of power. What fills your heart with joy or makes you feel alive? Speaking publicly is what brings me the most joy. Gabby Bernstein is speaking at St James’s on Monday 27 October.

Monday 3 November The Law of Light and the Secret Teachings of Jesus LARS MUHL Join Lars Muhl as he gives you an insight into his life’s work studying the Essenes and the Aramaic New Testament. From his own very moving personal story of his sister’s death and how it initiated his earliest experience with Kundalini energy to his spiritual awakening with The Seer. Lars will share how this encounter utterly changed his life, and transformed the meaning of his existence, thus initiating the quest he has so grippingly shared in his trilogy The O Manuscript.

Monday 10 November A Religion of One’s Own THOMAS MOORE What if you could create a religion of your own? According to Thomas Moore many people are abandoning structured religion to become either seekers or secularists, which is why he recommends re-imagining and re-defining religion entirely. Using the ancient traditions from around the world as resources, being creative and referring to his role models like Henry David Thoreau and Georgia O’Keeffe, Thomas Moore will explore this new 21st century religion.

Lars Muhl is a visionary, mystic and lecturer. He is author of The O Manuscript (The Seer, The Magdalene and The Grail) which has become an esoteric cult classic. larsmuhl.com Lars is leading a workshop on Sat 8 Nov – see page 13.

Monday 17 November Psychedelics and Civilisation, Light and Darkness GRAHAM HANCOCK Many of the greatest civilisations of the past enshrined the use of psychedelics as a sacred practise and found immense value in the visions that ensued. Further back still archaeological evidence is mounting that the shamanistic use of psychedelics may have been instrumental in the birth of the modern human mind. In this talk Graham Hancock investigates the possibility that by demonising the use of psychedelics, rather than seeking ways to harness their power for altering consciousness in safe spaces, our society may have set itself on a profoundly negative path -- a path that might even deny us the next step in our own evolution as a species. Graham Hancock has become recognised as an unconventional thinker who raises controversial questions about humanity’s past. He is author of many books including Fingerprints of the Gods, Supernatural and War God. grahamhancock.com 7pm-9pm £20/£15

The Way of the Leopard JOHN LOCKLEY

Healing the Mother Wound BETHANY WEBSTER

The Leopard is one of the main totem animals in South African traditional medicine. Today, John will teach some of the core principles of ‘Leopard medicine’ and how you can reconnect with your sixth sense and intuitive intelligence. He will lead a ceremony to help you to reconnect to your ancestors and guardians. Dreams will be discussed and guidance given on prophetic dreams, and how to better understand the mirage of our nightly journeys. The workshop will be experiential with live drumming, dancing and singing.

As daughters, the relationship with our mothers is one of the most significant in our lives, impacting everything from how we view our bodies to what we feel capable of creating in the world. Feeling anger and sadness towards our mother when she did not meet our needs is natural, yet often stigmatized in our culture, preventing us from moving into our full power as women. This workshop for women offers a sacred space to examine the mother wound and explore how it can be transformed from a source of pain into a source of wisdom.

Q+A Who have been your most significant teachers? My cat Tangy was a real guru, honestly! I used to watch her for hours, learning her stillness. She enjoyed spending her days exploring her environment and being fascinated with the present moment. Even as she lay dying, she was never caught up in blame or guilt, or some ‘victim’ mentality – she really showed up fully for her life.

Jeff Foster is the author of Falling in Love with Who You Are and The Deepest Acceptance. How did you come to be on your current path? In my early twenties, suicidal depression brought me to my knees, and consequently to an intensive spiritual search. I became obsessed with the idea of ‘spiritual enlightenment’ but that quest, too, ended in profound disillusionment. I was completely broken, exhausted, ready to die, wondering where my true life was. And then, one day, I remembered something I’d always known: that ordinary life is a miracle. Every breath, every sensation, every sound is sacred. The present moment is my true home, and I had never left. I had only been seeking what I already was. And that realisation began to change my life from the ground up. What has been the biggest learning in your life? Intimate relationships have taught me so much: to be humble, to listen without judgement, to admit my mistakes, to feel deeply into the perspective of another person without judging them or making them wrong. I have realised that we are all on the same road, doing our best. What are you most grateful for? I am grateful to all my teachers – parents, friends, lovers, the books I’ve read, the heartbreaks I’ve been through. Everything is teaching awakening, if we have eyes to see.

What are the most common challenges experienced by people you work with? So many people I meet all over the world are exhausted from trying to control their lives, trying to awaken, or even trying not to try. I show them a place where they can embrace mystery, not-knowing, uncertainty. I think the entire spiritual path is about befriending uncertainty and change, learning to love fully and let go fearlessly. What advice would you offer to our audience? When a painful feeling comes to visit, do not judge it or try to push it away, do not distract yourself from it. Honour it. Feel directly into the raw energy in the body - in the belly, the chest, the throat. Know this is only life, moving – a part of you that longs for acknowledgement, attention, kindness. Don’t try to fix yourself too quickly – you may not be broken. What fills your heart with joy or makes you feel alive? I love the simple things of life: Meandering in nature, drinking tea with a dear friend, the power and fragility of breathing, the aliveness of bodily sensations, however intense or uncomfortable. I love music, movies, theatre, poetry. But most of all, I love honest connection, meeting others in vulnerability, speaking and hearing truth, cutting through illusion to what is truly alive in the moment. Jeff Foster is speaking at St James’s on Monday 1 December and leading a workshop on Saturday 24 January.

Pippa Merrivale founded Metatronic Healing® in 2007. Clare Gannon is Pippa’s close colleague, codirector and core teacher. Richard Farmer joined Pippa and Clare as a teacher in 2012.

Working with the Spirit World TONY STOCKWELL

Falling in Love with Where You Are JEFF FOSTER

With over 30 years working as a medium we are delighted to be hosting Tony Stockwell for an entire day! Over the course of the workshop Tony will show you how to understand how Spirit may influence you to be of service through healing or communication. Evidential development and exploring the limits of your own Mediumship, as well as how philosophy, healing, soul growth along with awakening and nurturing the Spirit within can enhance your closeness to the spirit world and help you appreciate that we are all part of the same divine family.

Join Jeff Foster for a day of talk, meditative dialogues and restful silences; a day of laughter, honesty and tears; a day of seeing our struggles, our fears, our confusions in a fresh new light; a day of resting deeply, of letting go of the exhausting search for 'something more'; a day of being present with whatever arises in ourselves and each other. Whether you are struggling with your life, are looking for peace and space amidst the chaos, or are interested in meeting others in a new way, this workshop is for you.

Tony Stockwell is one of the UK’s most well-

known and respected psychics. He is author of several books including Spirited and Walking with Angels. tonystockwell.com 10.30am–5pm Colet House,151 Talgarth Rd,W14 9DA
