Ammonium Nitrate Fattening & Granulation - Desmet Ballestra

Page 1

Ammonium Nitrate Fattening & Granulation Desmet Ballestra proposes its in house Bi Fluid Drum Granulation (BFDG) technology for the following applications:

Ammonium nitrate and calcium ammonium nitrate fattening Ammonium nitrate or Calcium ammonium nitrate prills from the existing prilling tower are used as seed material and sprayed with ammonium nitrate or calcium ammonium nitrate melt in the Bi Fluid Drum Granulator (BFDG). It is one-through without recycle loop. Fattened prills are screened on a finishing screen and oversized particles are molten and recycled to the ammonium nitrate or calcium nitrate solution loop. The fattened prills are further cooled in a fluid bed cooler (using air) or in a static bulk flow cooler (using water). The process is used for: - Capacity increase of existing prilling plant - Product quality improvement (bigger product size, increased product hardness) - Air emissions improvements (decrease of air in prilling tower) The plant scheme allows to integrate a granulator with the existing prilling tower, upgrading product quality and reducing emissions with limited plant modification and investment.
