BOOKS & BOOKS - CORAL GABLES, FL The international tour of the presentation of our book “Places of Purpose” began in Miami to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Puer to Rico in its rebuilding effor ts of homes for the victims of hurricanes Irma and María. On May 3rd, enter tainment celebrities, news media, academia, the construction sector, architectural firms and interior designers of Florida, as well as the general public gathered at Books and Books in Coral Gables for the book presentation and signing. The book was published last December, and AD&V immediately decided to donate the book profits to Habitat for Humanity of Puer to Rico with the objective of helping in the reconstruction of homes for the thousands of families that lost their roofs with the passing of hurricanes Irma and María through the Island. Mario Andrés Moreno, news anchor and journalist, introduced the book authors and the event. Desirée Bar tosiak--the director of Habitat Hammers Back and Habitat for Humanity International--expressed: “We are extremely grateful for the generosity and suppor t of Álvarez Díaz & Villalón and their work with Habitat for Humanity of Puer to Rico. We are confident that together we can help rebuild Puer to Rico and serve those most affected.“ Around 70,000 homes were destroyed and approximately 250,000 homes received significant damage that urgently needs to be repaired before they suffer even more from the inclement weather, especially the new hurricane season. We couldn’t have done this without the overwhelming suppor t of the journalists and animators of the major news media in Florida that promoted the presentation of this book, special thanks to Raúl De Molina, Camilo Egaña, Ricardo Brown, Barbara Bermudo, Oscar Haza, María Laria, Mario Andrés Moreno, Marcela Sarmientos, Hernán Orejuela, Rober to Rodriguez Tejera, Edgar Paredes, Andreina Gándica, Ino Gómez, Sarah Moreno, Adriana Navarro, Ernesto Faxes, Argentina Vanina Ferrari, Fabiola Romero, Alejandro Marcano, Raul Gonzalez, Alber to Sardiñas , Robmariel Olea, Aleyda Or tiz, David Rodriguez, among others, as well as those journalists from New York, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Argentina who, via telephone, helped us spread the word. “Now, after the passage of this devastating hurricane we have a even greater obligation to continue creating Places of Purpose” said Cristina Villalón. 2
MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART - SAN JUAN, PR After a successful book launch, on May 24th, clients, friends and family gathered at the Museum of Contemporary Ar t of Puer to Rico to suppor t the presentation of our book in the island. The event was presented by our dear friend and client Wesley Cullen, General Manager of Bacardi. Some of our guests where Secretary of State, Luis Gerardo Rivera Marín, Director of Operations of Habitat for Humanity of Puer to Rico, Amanda Silva, and Mayor of Toa Baja, Hon. Betito Márquez, among others. At this emotional event we also had guests from the show business sector, the academy, the construction sector, architecture firms, interior designers and the media, as well as the general public. We are deeply humbled by the suppor t of the journalists and animators of the main news media of Puer to Rico for promoting the presentation of this book, especially Radio Isla, Wapa TV, Channel 13, WKAQ, El Nuevo Día, El Vocero, and all that made this presentation possible. VILLA PRADES RESIDENTIAL PROJECT San Juan, Puer to Rico On June 20th, we had the oppor tunity to hand over the keys to a brand new home to a hardworking single mother through Habitat for Humanity of Puer to Rico. We collaborated with the organization to rehabilitate this residence and the final result is our hear ts full of joy. This is a clear example of what happens when purpose and collaboration meet. What a rewarding day!

OFFICE CULTURE MOTHER’S DAY Last May, we celebrated Mother’s Day at AD&V. We decorated our conference room and filled it with beautiful flower arrangements which we made ourselves. To make our mothers feel special, each of them received gift cer tificates to enjoy a 30-minute therapeutic and relaxing massage at a near by local salon.
FATHER’S DAY This Father’s Day, we wanted to give our AD&V dads a special gift. The morning star ted with a fun and delicious breakfast with the team. We waited until the end of the breakfast to give them their gifts. They star ted laughing as they opened their bags and noticed the mismatched pair of socks! We wanted to remind the dads to always embrace their funny and creative side. They LOVED their mismatched socks and we have spotted them wearing them at work! =)
SITE VISIT TO JADE HOTEL Last August, we visited the Jade: A St. Clair Hotel. We got to see the model apar tments, as well as the amazing roof top view. Moreover, the most impressive par t of this site visit was to be able to see the different stages of construction in each level. Ascending, each floor was in a different phase in the development so we got to see how things progress. It is looking awesome and we can’t wait for it to be finished! Scheduled opening: March 2019
REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE We are constantly updating our Interior Design Library to make sure we have the latest and most recent catalogs for our projects. In our effor t to recycle and reuse the most, we par tnered up with EDP University and donated all of our outdated catalogs to the students of the Interior Design Depar tment. These catalogs will help students source furniture, lighting and finishes for their projects.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Our Internship Program is getting better every year. This semester, Nicole Quiñones from the University of Puer to Rico - Carolina Campus joined our Interior Design team. Nicole assisted the depar tment in the development of residential and commercial projects. Nicole, we hope you learned a lot and we’ll definitely miss you!
NEW TEAM MEMBERS We are pleased to announce that Executive Assistant Kristina Willis & Architecture Staff Alejandra Medina have joined our team. We are happy to integrate them into our AD&V Family.
URBAN GARDEN UPDATE After Hurricane María, our Urban Garden has been growing and getting back to being green. Our Spring and Summer Season treated the team with some delicious Star Fruit, the first fruit to be collected since the hurricane season. We also had a special visit from the new adopted pet, a bright green Iguana that we named Aldivi. She spent the day in the Urban Garden and caught some sun rays sitting in the Star fruit tree. We also have some bananas on the way! Can’t wait to show them to you on our next edition.

OFFICE CULTURE TWIN DAYS Woah! Great minds think alike! It seems as if we constantly coordinate with each other to come dressed alike to the office. From combinations of black and white, shades of blue and shades of red and pink to similar patterns, any day can be a Twin Day!
