Pedro Alvarez

Pedro Alvarez (Chile, 1980) is a composer and improviser, mainly concerned with unorthodox ways of organisation of sound textures. He completed a PhD under Liza Lim at University of Huddersfield, receiving the “Vice-Chancellor’s Award for an Outstanding Research Degree Thesis”; MPhil at Goldsmiths, University of London, MA at University of Chile, and private composition studies with James Dillon. In the UK, Alvarez curated and edited the CeReNeM Journal’s fourth issue. During 2014 he was appointed Artist-in-Residence in Vienna (Austrian Federal Government) and in Querétaro (Arts Council of Mexico). His compositions and improvisations have featured in leading festivals and venues worldwide.
