‫غزة‪ :‬أنيـن اإلنســانية !‬ ‫فواز شوك‬ ‫هل بحثت يوماً عن االنسانية‬ ‫بروحها وجسدها وضمريها‬ ‫ووجدانها ومعانيها الحقيقية‬ ‫والشاملة ومنظومتها الخُلقية وتطبيقاتها‬ ‫العملية؟ ما عليك اال ان تفتح الشاشة‬ ‫لتجدها أمام ناظريك‪:‬‬

‫إنها غزة‬

‫ غزة الصامدة رغم الجراح‪ ،‬الشامخة رغم‬‫الخراب‪ ،‬الثابتة رغم الدمار‪ ،‬املتامسكة‬ ‫رغم املجازر‪ ،‬القوية رغم الصعاب‪،‬‬ ‫املنتفضة من تحت الركام‪ ،‬إنها االنسانية‬ ‫كلها‪ ،‬وشعبها هو روح االنسانية الذي‬ ‫ينبض بالحياة والنشاط والعزة والكرامة‪،‬‬ ‫شعب عزيز صابر كأيوب‪ ،‬قاهر للظلم‪،‬‬ ‫منترص للحق‪ ،‬متأقلم مع الويالت‪،‬‬ ‫متكافل متكاتف عند املآيس‪ ،‬محب للحياة‬ ‫يف غمرة املوت والقتل‪.‬‬ ‫شعب غزة هو روح اإلنسانية الذي أيقظ‬‫شعوب العامل من ثباتها وغفلتها‪ ،‬وهو‬ ‫ضمريها الذي ه ّز ضامئر االحرار يف‬ ‫العامل‪ ،‬وهو وجدانها الذي ح ّرك وجدان‬ ‫أهل االنسانية جميعاً عىل اختالف‬ ‫أعراقهم وأديانهم وثقافاتهم‪ ،‬ووحدهم‬ ‫ضد التوحش والهمجية واملجازر والقتل‬ ‫واالبادة والعقاب الجامعي ومحاوالت‬ ‫التهجري وضد كل ما هو مخالف للطبيعة‬ ‫البرشية وللرشائع والقوانني‪.‬‬ ‫من بني مشاهد القتل والدماء واملجازر‬ ‫سنتناول املشهد من بعض زواياه ويف نقاط‬ ‫مخترصة‪:‬‬

‫املتأصلة‬ ‫الجذور‬ ‫ِّ‬

‫الصمود االسطوري ألهل غزة أمام آلة‬‫القتل اإلرسائيلية‪ ،‬ومتسكهم باألرض‬ ‫وارصارهم عىل البقاء يؤكد أن الجذور‬ ‫االصيلة ال ميكن أن تُجتث أو تُقتل أو‬ ‫متوت‪ ،‬ألن روحها ليست يف جسد‪ ،‬وامنا‬ ‫هي روح يف جسد روح‪ ،‬روح متجذرة‬ ‫بجسد األرض وبَدَ نِ التاريخ وجسم‬ ‫الجغرافيا‪ ،‬يستحيل اقتالعها أو امتشاقها‬ ‫أو اخراجها‪.‬‬ ‫قضية أهل غزة وقضية أهل فلسطني هي‬‫جسد داخل روح‪ ،‬وليس فقط روح يف‬ ‫جسد‪ ،‬فحتى لو تم انتزاع هذا الجسد من‬ ‫خالل االحتالل والتدمري واالستيطان‬ ‫واالستيالء عىل االرايض وقطع أشجار‬ ‫الزيتون وهدم البيوت وتزوير التاريخ‬ ‫والسطو عىل اآلثار ورسقة الثقافة‬ ‫واالعتداء عىل املقدسات‪ ،‬ستبقى روحه‬ ‫خرضاء تنبض بالحياة‪ ،‬والعزمية‬ ‫والثبات‪.‬‬

‫بني ثقافة الحياة وثقافة املوت‬

‫مل ترتك آلة الحرب والدمار االرسائيلية‬‫شيئا يف طريقها اال وعاثت به دماراً‬ ‫وفساداً‪ ،‬من مستشفيات ومدارس ومساجد‬ ‫وكنائس وجامعات وأبراج ومباين سكنية‬ ‫ومراكز نازحني وأجهزة توليد الطاقة‬ ‫وخزانات مياه وسيارات اسعاف‪ ،‬وحصار‬ ‫شمل كل يشء وقطع كل يشء عن أهل‬ ‫غزة اال الهواء والكرامة ألن الهواء خارج‬ ‫عن قدرة املعتدي والكرامة خارجة عن‬ ‫ثقافته‪.‬‬ ‫غري أن ثقافة الحياة يف غزة ظلّت هي‬‫األقوى‪ ،‬ثقافة جعلت من كل فرد من‬ ‫أهل غزة مرشوع تضحية من أجل البقاء‬ ‫يف االرض ومن أجل حياة اآلخرين‪،‬‬ ‫متسلحني بالصرب واالميان‪ ،‬مؤمنني‬ ‫بعدالة قضيتهم‪ ،‬ثقافة جعلت كل‬ ‫الطواقم واملوظفني واملتطوعني يعملون‬ ‫تحت وابل القصف والقذائف‪ ،‬كل واحد‬ ‫منهم يرتقب قذيفة قد تأتيه يف أي‬ ‫لحظة وبدون سابق انذار أو استئذان‪،‬‬ ‫ففي لحظة توحش قد يصبح الطبيب‬ ‫جريحاً أو قتيالً‪ ،‬وقد يتحول الجريح‬ ‫اىل مسعف لطبيبه‪ ،‬وقد يصاب اإلعالمي‬ ‫ويصبح املواطن إعالميا يصور جراحه‪،‬‬ ‫فهل هناك تضحية وشجاعة أعظم من‬ ‫ذلك؟!‬

‫االعالم رسالة وليس تجارة‬

‫ كم ّية الكذب والفربكات االعالمية التي‬‫شاهدنا يف بعض وسائل االعالم العاملية‬ ‫وخاصة الغربية منها يف تغطيتها لعدوان‬ ‫غزة تؤكد لنا أن االعالمي يفقد هويته‬ ‫الحقيقية عندما يتخىل عن الضمري وعن‬ ‫الصدق واملوضوعية واملهنية واألمانة‪،‬‬ ‫ويتحول اىل مقاتل مشارك يف الجرمية‪،‬‬ ‫واىل شاهد زور يساعد يف اخفاء‬ ‫الجرمية أو تحسني صورتها‪ ،‬فيتحول‬ ‫القلم يف يديه اىل عصا وامليكروفون‬ ‫اىل فوهة بندقية والشاشة اىل شاهد‬ ‫زور واألستوديو اىل مصنع للكذب من‬ ‫أجل الكذب‪ ،‬ألن القلم تحركه االصابع‪،‬‬ ‫واالصابع تحركها العقول والضامئر‪،‬‬ ‫والعقول والضامئر هي ما مييز االنسان‬ ‫عن باقي املخلوقات‪.‬‬ ‫يا حبذا لو يتعلم أشباه رجال الصحافة‬‫واالعالم الذين باعوا ضمريهم‪ ،‬معنى‬ ‫االنسانية واملهنية والصدق والشهامة‬ ‫من مدرسة اإلعالمي وائل الدحدوح‬ ‫الذي فقد زوجته وأطفاله يف القصف‬ ‫االرسائييل لكنه مل يستسلم للعدوان‬ ‫وال للحزن‪ ،‬ومل يأخذ اجازة رغم هول‬

‫املصاب‪ ،‬بل زاده املصاب ارصارا عىل‬ ‫االستمرار يف نقل الحقيقة‪ ،‬واكامل املهنة‪،‬‬ ‫ليقدم للبرشية أجمل منوذج يف التضحية‬ ‫والشجاعة والصرب واالخالص‪ ،‬لو كان‬ ‫وائل الدحدوح امريكياً لنصبوا له متثاال‬ ‫مكان متثال الحرية ‪.‬‬

‫رشكاء ضد االنسانية‬

‫ اللجوء اىل الكذب والفربكات واالعتامد‬‫عىل الرسديات املصطنعة والنظر بعني‬ ‫واحدة من قبل بعض قادة الغرب ملا‬ ‫يحدث يف غزة من جرائم ضد االنسانية‬ ‫رش‬ ‫وقيمها‪ ،‬يهدف اىل تحسني صورة ال ّ‬ ‫وتزيني وجه املجرم من خالل زخرفات‬ ‫من القول‪ ،‬مليئة بالغطرسة والغرور‬ ‫والعنجهية والوقاحة والتحدي‪ ،‬وصلت‬ ‫اىل حد املباركة واملشاركة يف الجرمية‪،‬‬ ‫متناسني أو متجاهلني أن األقنعة‬ ‫املزخرفة ومساحيق التجميل والرتقيع‬ ‫التي يستخدمونها لن تزيد وجه القاتل‬ ‫اال بشاعة وقبحاً كقبح مواقفهم بل أشدّ ‪،‬‬ ‫وحش أن‬ ‫ولن يستطيع أحم ٌر عىل شفاه ٍ‬ ‫يحجب الدماء الحمراء عن أنيابه‪.‬‬ ‫بايدن العجوز االشمط الذي ال يرى‬‫بعني األخالق وال يسمع صوت الضمري‬ ‫لكنه يتكلم بالباطل وبلغة املصلحة‬ ‫والهوى‪ ،‬يعيد اىل الواجهة السجل االسود‬ ‫الطويل لإلدارة االمريكية يف منطقة‬ ‫الرشق االوسط وخاصة وقوفها الدائم‬ ‫ضد حقوق الشعب الفلسطيني‪ ،‬إضافة‬ ‫اىل نفوذها وهيمنتها عىل املنطقة العربية‬ ‫والعامل‪ ،‬وحروبها الدموية حول العامل‬ ‫التي مل ِ‬ ‫تأت اال بالدمار والخراب‪ ،‬ومن‬ ‫بينها حربها عىل العراق بحجة كاذبة‬ ‫(هي وجود اسلحة دمار شامل)‪ ،‬فد ّمرت‬ ‫ً‬ ‫شاماًل وحولته من عراق‬ ‫العراق دماراً‬ ‫الرشيد اىل عراك الطوائف‪.‬‬ ‫اما ماكرون الذي جاء مهروالً (مثل‬‫غريه من بعض قادة الغرب) ليقدم‬ ‫البيعة لنتنياهو عىل وقع القذائف التي‬ ‫تنهمر عىل أهل غزة‪ ،‬محارضاً عن العفّة‬ ‫بأسلوب عفن‪ ،‬هو نفسه ماكرون الذي‬ ‫يرفض أن يعتذر للشعب الجزائري عن‬ ‫احتالل استمر حوايل ‪ 132‬سنة‪ ،‬قتلت‬ ‫فرنسا خالله نصف الشعب الجزائري‬ ‫منذ ‪ 1830‬إىل غاية ‪ 1962‬حيث بلغ عدد‬ ‫الشهداء ‪ 5‬ماليني و‪ 500‬ألف كام رصح‬ ‫بذلك الرئيس الجزائري‪ ،‬فخالل الثورة‬ ‫التحريرية وحدها (‪)1962 – 1954‬‬ ‫قتلت فرنسا مليونًا و‪ 500‬ألف شهيد‪،‬‬ ‫إضافة إىل جرائم أخرى»‪ .‬ورغم ذلك ما‬ ‫زال ماكرون (وما ِكرونَ معه) يحاولون‬ ‫خداع الناس بشعارات الحرية والحضارة‪،‬‬

‫متناسيا أن فرنسا هي من ساعدت الكيان‬ ‫الصهيوين يف برنامجه النووي وبالتايل‬ ‫حيازة القنابل النووية‪ ،‬التي هدّ د بها‬ ‫وزير الرتاث االرسائييل أهل غزة االبرياء‪.‬‬

‫انتصار االنسانية لغزة‬

‫املشاهد املروعة ألشالء االطفال ومشاهد‬‫حرب االبادة كانت كفيلة بإحداث هزة‬ ‫عاملية اساسها الضمري وعامدها الوعي‪،‬‬ ‫انعكست عىل شكل احتجاجات ومظاهرات‬ ‫يف مختلف انحاء العامل‪ ،‬حركها الغضب‬ ‫الرافض للظلم وللكذب ولرسدية أصحاب‬ ‫السلطة والقوة والنفوذ والقرار واملال‬ ‫عرّبت ناشطة‬ ‫واملصالح يف بلدانهم‪ ،‬وقد ّ‬ ‫بريطانية متضامنة مع أهل غزة عن‬ ‫طبيعة هذا الحراك العاملي خري تعبري‬ ‫عندما حدّ دت له هويته االنسانية وبالتايل‬ ‫ج ّردت من يقفون ضده من االنسانية‪،‬‬ ‫عندما قالت‪“ :‬انني أتضامن مع الشعب‬ ‫الفلسطيني ألنني انسان»! كلامت قليلة‬ ‫بسيطة لكنها ثقيلة يف ميزان القيم‬ ‫واالخالق‪ ،‬مؤثرة يف ضامئر االحرار‪.‬‬

‫الهزمية االخالقية الرسائيل‬ ‫ومن يقف معها‬

‫ عندما متلك السالح وتفقد الضمري‪،‬‬‫ومتلك النفوذ وتفتقر لإلنسانية‪.‬‬ ‫ومتلك القوة وتكره العدل‪ ،‬ومتلك القرار‬‫وتعشق الظلم‪.‬‬ ‫ومتلك املال ومتارس الفجور‪ ،‬ومتلك‬‫االعالم وتزاول النفاق‪.‬‬ ‫ومتلك الغذاء وتعاين من الخواء‬‫األخالقي‪.‬‬ ‫عند ذلك تتحول الدول اىل غابات‬‫وأصحاب القرار اىل وحوش‪.‬‬ ‫واالبرياء اىل ضحايا‪ ،‬واملدن اىل اطالل‪،‬‬‫والقتل اىل ل ّذة‪.‬‬ ‫والدماء اىل انهار‪ ،‬والتدمري اىل تشفّي‪.‬‬‫ويصبح قصف املستشفيات متعة‪ ،‬ورضب‬‫املساجد والكنائس شهوة‪.‬‬ ‫واستهداف املدارس شهية‪ ،‬وقتل االطفال‬‫نزعة وهوى‪.‬‬ ‫وستتشابه املعاين بني عامل متحرض‬‫وعامل يحترض‪.‬‬ ‫وستتسع مساحة القبور وتنقص مساحة‬‫الحضارة والعمران‪.‬‬ ‫ومتحى مساحة االخالق!‬‫‪-‬وتضيق املساحة بني الوحوش والبرش!‬

In a heart-wrenching turn of events in October 2023, Gaza City has become a battleground for catastrophic Israeli airstrikes, targeting homes and hospitals, resulting in the tragic loss of countless lives.1

Reports from Palestinian health authorities indicate a devastating death toll, with an estimated 9,200 people, including innocent babies, children, and women, losing their lives, while approximately 23,500 others have been wounded since early October. This relentless assault has spared neither houses nor hospitals, with even ambulances becoming casualties. One horrifying incident was the Israeli airstrike on an

ambulance convoy near al-Shifa Hospital, which claimed 15 lives and left 60 others injured. The Red Cross and the Red Crescent bear witness to the fact that these victims were medical personnel and patients, turning this tragic event into a haunting symbol of inhumanity 2. Al-Shifa, Gaza's largest hospital, is grappling with severe overcrowding, reaching a bed occupancy rate of 164 percent, according to the World

Health Organization (WHO). This crisis unfolds against the backdrop of Israel's continued bombardment and blockade of the territory. Regrettably, at least 16 hospitals across Gaza are now non-functional due to damage caused by bombing and a severe shortage of fuel, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry. The WHO has issued a dire warning that this fuel shortage poses an immediate threat to the lives of the wounded and other patients.

with a palpable desire for revenge and escalating hatred toward Palestinians, raising grave concerns. Decades spent under oppressive Israeli occupation, marked by thousands of checkpoints serving as daily reminders of Palestinian suffering, have contributed to this dire situation. The Gaza Strip has endured a 17-year siege, with 2.3 million people living in what can only be described as an open-air cage.

Years ago, Gideon Levy, a columnist for Israel's Haaretz newspaper, foresaw the perpetuation of Palestinian suffering if the U.S. continues its unquestioning support for Israel. The recent unwavering backing of Israel by the U.S. appears to overlook the plight and suffering of Palestinians, which is deeply regrettable. In a recent interview with Karan Thapar, Gideon Levy painted a grim picture for Israel's future, asserting that an invasion of Gaza would constitute one of the gravest war crimes ever committed by Israel 3.

The heartbreak deepens with each passing day as images of innocent children and babies killed in the conflict continue to flood our screens. One particularly heart-wrenching scene is that of a young father searching for his four children beneath the rubble of his home. Gaza is now a region filled with pain, distress, and unimaginable atrocities.

As time passes, more harrowing scenes emerge,

What is deeply troubling is that amidst this cruel massacre, the international community, despite a few exceptions, remains largely silent. Accountability for the atrocities committed by Israel is an urgent

necessity, and justice must be served for the Palestinian people who have suffered human rights violations and breaches of international humanitarian law. The cycle of violence and persecution must be broken, and the enduring impunity must come to an end. We implore our Australian government and the global community to unite without delay, calling for an immediate ceasefire and lending assistance to the people of Palestine. Every human being deserves to live a life free from violence and fear, and it is our collective responsibility to make that a reality.

COST OF LIVING CRUNCH: WHERE TO GO WHEN IN NEED Shakir Hurn The idea of asking for help from other than Allah is quite often perceived as taboo. In this article, we will address the concept of asking for help in the context of the cost-of-living crisis and identify if asking for help correlates with Islam. To begin with, let’s briefly identify what’s taking place from what we’ve seen at NZF throughout the cost-ofliving crisis. I want you to imagine the following three real-life examples that are happening in our backyard; A devoted single mother was deciphering whether to pay rent or to send her innocent child to school hungry. A husband is trying to put fresh food on the table for his family and unexpectedly must stop working due to a

family member being blessed with cancer. No government benefits can be obtained due to his family’s VISA status. A battered mother was abandoned abruptly by her husband with their two children and now doesn’t have the financial capacity to pay rent, bills, or groceries. With the infested rat race that we live in and the many things we take for granted, unconsciously and unintentionally we forget about those who are doing it tough. If you were to ask the individuals in the examples mentioned above, do you think they would have thought they would be in that situation when their life beforehand was going relatively okay? The reality is that we can’t be oblivious or fast asleep to the fact that any of the examples above

could happen to someone you know or even your own self. Now, the question beckons, who is going to help our brothers and sisters in need? And where does the help come from? This isn’t just as simple as saying they can receive help from Centrelink. This simply doesn’t cut it and demonstrates a decay of ignorance. So where does their help come from then? It’s paramount to understand the significance of Tawhid. What this means is all help is provided only by Allah alone, and Allah utilises his servants as instruments to administer help. Similarly, this applies to the context of the costof-living crisis and asking for help. At NZF, the staff at the forefront are only the instruments administering the help that Allah has bestowed upon those in

need. This demonstrates the importance of understanding Tawhid and how this correlates with asking for help from others. In addition, and to conclude, it’s important to recognise that anything that was destined to occur will always occur and anything that was not destined to occur will always be missed. The Housing Industry Association (HIA) welcomes the National Cabinet’s announcement of the National Skills Agreement. The Agreement promises to invest $12.6 billion to expand and transform the VET sector to deliver quality training and reforms which address our critical skills needs,” said Jocelyn Martin, HIA Managing Director. “Earlier this year National Cabinet committed to building 1.2 million homes over the next 5 years. To build these much needed homes, it is critical that we have the key skills and workforce in place to enable us to achieve this target. “This investment is a key plank in addressing the skills shortages, strengthening our VET sector and training and upskilling workers into national priority areas including construction. “Part of this agreement includes the establishment of nationally networked Centres of Excellence involving partnerships between TAFEs, universities, Jobs and Skills Councils and industry,” added Ms Martin. Whilst broadly supportive of these

targeted ‘Centres of Excellence’ which can focus on key skills gaps, HIA stresses the importance of the Australian Government broadening the focus beyond TAFE’s to also recognise the key role played by industry specific training organisations. These organisations deliver training developed by industry for industry and also have the capacity to deliver targeted skills in regional areas. Included in the $12.6 billion funding is $100 million to support, grow and retain a quality VET workforce, $250 million to improve VET completions including women and others who face completion challenges and $142 million to improve foundation skills training capacity, quality and accessibility. “The National Skills Agreement promises to deliver much needed changes to the VET system and the opportunity to target skills and reforms which will make a difference to our industry and our capacity to deliver on the Government’s plan to build 1.2 million homes,” concluded Ms Martin.

PALESTINE’S AMBASSADOR TO AUSTRALIA TALKS ABOUT THE ROOTS OF THE CONFLICT IN GAZA Abdelkader Azouz

Under the hazardous escalation in Gaza, the formed alliance between the Israeli occupation and some western governments is serving to amplify the proportion of suffering and violations targeting defenseless civilians by means of indiscriminate bombardments, making the situation in Palestine terrifyingly alarming. A key meeting with the Palestinian ambassador to Australia, Mr. Izzat Abdulhadi has allowed us to shed the lights on the situation in Gaza by comprehending its root causes. Before we proceed to the matter in hand, can you provide us with an overview of the demographics in the Gaza Strip and the percentage of refugees from the 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight? To begin with, we pray for the souls of our martyrs and wish a speedy recovery to our injured civilians. Concerning the demographics, the population in the Gaza Strip exceeds 2.2 million habitants and constitute 80% of the expulsed Palestinians of 1948, so when we say “people in Gaza”, we are referring to Palestinian refugees that lost their homes located 40km away from their current abodes, therefore you can only imagine the deep bond that ties them to their homeland and their villages within proximity to the racial segregation wall which Israel has erected. Unfortunately, since 2007, a large and severe siege has been imposed on Gaza, which has continued until this moment, allowing for 16 years of blockade by land, sea and air, and saying no to a life of dignity in the strip while greatly affecting its political, economic and social conditions. Hence condemning the Gaza Strip and its people to a long and proud history of national struggle and sacrifice. What are the roots of this current conflict? When speaking to the press about what’s going on in Gaza, we try make clear that the recent conflicts and aggressions done by the Israeli occupation there are not entirely new to the picture, and we try to focus on bringing to the surface the historical context, the political content and the root factors that led to the conflict reaching this stage. There are three main reasons that can provide us with the basis for the conflict: First off, the Palestine Nakba

of 1948, also known as the “Palestine Catastrophe” where the ethnical cleansing and permanent displacement of more than 800,000 Palestinians along with the depopulation and destruction of more than 500 villages by Zionist militias took place in Palestine to enable the colonial project backed by a few Arab countries, Britain and the United States. The emerging results of this catastrophe, in addition to the whopping 6 million Palestinian refugees outside of Palestine, who are still left to this day without any compensation or hope of returning to their homeland despite the United Nations general assembly resolution 194 which states the rights of Palestine refugees to return to their home and calls for a compensation, thus creating one of the roots of this conflict. The second main factor is the occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip in 1967 which to this date has led to 56 years of illegal and brutal occupation that excelled in proving to be capable of doing unimaginable atrocities. As a result of this occupation more than

800,000 Israeli settler are residing in Palestinian occupied land and constitute over 20% of residents in the West Bank. In addition to its human rights violations, Israel controls 80% of the natural resources and water resources in particular, and continues its constant oppressive acts, unlawful murders, and attacks on Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem particularly the recent attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to divide it spatially and temporally, like what they did in the Sanctuary of Abraham in Al-Khalil (Hebron). Thirdly, we have more than 5,000 Palestinians in occupation prisons and children abused in Israeli detention due to Israel’s circuitous methods, applying civil laws in favor of its settlers and military laws against the Palestinians, clearly demonstrating that Israel is practicing racial segregation against Palestinians. The “apartheid” system in Palestine is far worse than that in South Africa, as stated by Desmond Tutu, a Nobel Peace Prize winner and a

south African angelican bishop, also many international human rights organizations like “Human Rights Watch”, and some important figures in the Israeli community agree with the Apartheid description that befit Israel’s system. The influence of Israel’s extreme right government continues to reinforce this system which now comprises of well-known fascists like Smotrich and Ben Gvir, previous fugitives from Israeli justice in view of their racist propaganda and slogans against Palestinians. Another example is taken from Netanyahu’s recent brandished map that showed the West Band and Gaza as parts of Israel in his UNGA speech three weeks ago. In recent developments, there is not one Israeli official who talks about Palestine’s lawful right of Self-determination, not even a two-state solution, they already consider the occupied lands their biblical heartland “Judea and Samaria” according to the ancient Hebrew theology. Along with the 16 years siege on Gaza every act taken by Israel up until now is a clear violation of international humanitarian law. Everyone is warning about the plan to displace the population of Gaza to Sinai Peninsula. What is the seriousness of this plan and can it succeed? This plan is doomed to failure because it stands on the immoral grounds of ethnical cleansing and displacement of the habitants in Gaza and because of the growing awareness of the entire Palestinian people and their leaders, the history won’t repeat itself this time. We were taught a tough and painful lesson from the past refugee situation (as the one in Lebanon), so the people of Gaza fully reject the idea of moving to Sinai Peninsula. As known, this plan was drawn up by former US President Trump, who said that Israel must be settled within the framework of land exchange to alleviate the demographic aspect

in Gaza. Thus, expanding Israel into the surrounding areas by obtaining clear lands and increasing the size of their settlements. By claiming that this work is temporary in nature, and which conflicts with the current situation, this devious strategy has proven to be a definite way for cleansing the residents of Gaza and expelling them to Sinai, and therefore this plan has not passed and will not receive international support, even President Biden said that he sees no need to reoccupy Gaza. What is your assessment of the Government’s and opposition’s position in Australia on what is happening in Gaza? Have you reached out to them? Regrettably, the position of the Australian Government and the opposition was biased towards Israel and consistent with the positions of the United States and the European Union and did not attempt to link the events in Gaza to the root causes of the conflict, particularly the long blockade of the Gaza Strip and Israel’s prolonged occupation of Palestine. Australia’s position has slightly evolved as Israel’s aggression in the Gaza strip continues to escalate, with Australian officials discussing the importance of applying international humanitarian law and the need to protect Palestinian civilians and deliver the necessary assistance to them with due restraint. The Australian opposition on the other hand, represented by the Alliance took an unreserved position in favor of the Israeli aggression. With regard to contacts with the Australian Government, a delegation from the Council of Arab Ambassadors met with the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as an important meeting between the Arab ambassadors and Australia’s Foreign Minister, Senator Benny Wong, where clarifications about the Palestinian position from the Israeli occupation was displayed. In return, the Minister called for an immediate ceasefire to facilitate and enable a humanitarian corridor to reach our besieged Palestinian people in Gaza. The delegation explained the root causes of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the necessity of finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue while the international community fails to

find a one, leading to the dangerous political situation we are witnessing in the Gaza Strip. What is your assessment of the Australian media in handling the events in Gaza? Unfortunately, the Australian media is siding with the Western media that has been biased towards Israel in this ongoing war in the Gaza Strip which have unsystematically and dishonestly followed the positions of their governments. What steps are you taking to clarify your case to Australian public opinion? We believe that the Palestinian cause is a just one, and many free people around the world know that the Palestinian people are oppressed, their rights are lost, and their land is occupied. The Australian people are aware of these facts, and the reactions we observed from people confirm this. The marches and protests in support of Gaza has translated this awareness into reality, and the overall behavior towards our cause has confirmed that we do not need to keep explaining our issues with the occupation and the minimum rights that our Palestinian people are lacking. Some people are afraid of possible tensions that may occur in Australia in light of the deteriorating situation in Gaza. What is your message to the Australian community and how do you describe the conflict in Gaza? We believe that these fears are misplaced. In many countries and worldwide, marches and protests are continually expressing their rejection of the Israeli aggression on Gaza. Australia like other countries, has opponents and supporters of both Palestine and Israel, but the increasing awareness among the general public as a result of the indiscriminate bombardments that harvest the lives of unarmed civilians and the size of destruction that we are witnessing under these events, doesn’t leave much room for people to doubt in our cause.

Therefore, any efforts to help the Palestinian-Australian community remain suspended, waiting for the crisis to resolve and the aggression to stop. Certainly, if this war halts, we will coordinate our efforts with our brothers in Palestine to help our community return to Australia. Speaking of the demonstrations that broke out in various countries of the world, in your opinion, will the peoples of Europe and some Western countries triumph over the will of their rulers? Since the last aggression on Gaza, peoples of the world, whether in Islamic countries or elsewhere, have expressed their support and solidarity with the people of Palestine. However, some governments in the Western countries have adopted a position in favor of Israel despite their people’s refusal to support the aggression that targets children, women and defenseless civilians. Everyday, we are seeing peoples come out in massive marches to support the people of Gaza, denouncing all the blatant human rights violations that are occurring. In my opinion, the will of the people always triumphs because it is driven by humane values, not political or economic interests. A final word to the readers of AlWasat magazine? I thank Al-Wasat magazine for its continuous efforts and attention to convey the voice of truth concerning the Palestinian issue. The importance of the media in enlightening the public opinion and revealing many of the fallacies adopted by biased media outlets that choose to lean towards political and inhuman positions should not be taken lightly, many of these biased media platforms were loudly exposed by the events taking place in Gaza today.

Regrettably, the position of the Australian Government and the opposition was biased towards Israel and consistent with the positions of the United States and the European Union and did not attempt to link the events in Gaza to the root causes of the conflict, particularly the long blockade of the Gaza Strip and Israel’s prolonged occupation of Palestine.

Unfortunately, the Australian media is siding with the Western media that has been biased towards Israel in this ongoing war in the Gaza Strip which have unsystematically and dishonestly followed the positions of their governments.

The population in the Gaza Strip exceeds 2.2 million habitants and constitute 80% of the expulsed Palestinians of 1948, so when we say “people in Gaza”, we are referring to Palestinian refugees that lost their homes located 40km away from their current abodes.

‫يبلغ عدد الالجئين الفلسطنيين الموجودون‬ ‫خارج فلسطين حوالي ‪ 6‬مليون نسمة‪ ،‬لم‬ ‫يتم حتى هذه اللحظة إيجاد حأل لهم‪ ،‬رغم‬ ‫أن حق العودة لوطنهم األصلي جاء بناءا‬ ‫على القرار ‪ 194‬الصادر عن األمم المتحدة‬ ‫الذي ينص على العودة وتعويض الالجئين‬ ‫الفلسطنيين‪.‬‬

‫األسترالية والمعارضة منحازا إلسرائيل‬ ‫ومتسقا مع مواقف الواليات المتحدة‬ ‫واإلتحاد األوروبي ولم يربط األحداث في‬ ‫غزة باألسباب الجذرية للصراع وخاصة‬ ‫الحصار الطويل لقطاع غزة واالحتالل‬ ‫اإلسرائيلي المديد لفلسطين‪.‬‬ ‫تطور الموقف األسترالي قليال مع تصاعد‬ ‫العدوان اإلسرائيلي على قطاع غزة بحيث‬ ‫أصبح المسؤولون األستراليون يتحدثون‬ ‫عن أهمية تطبيق القانون الدولي األنساني‬ ‫وضــرورة حماية المدنيين الفلسطينيين‬ ‫وإيصال المساعدات الالزمة لهم مع‬ ‫ضرورة ضبط النفس‪.‬‬ ‫أما المعارضة األسترالية ممثلة بالتحالف‬ ‫فقد إتــخــذت موقفا مــؤيــدا للعدوان‬ ‫اإلسرائيلي بدون اي تحفظ‬ ‫وفيما يتعلق باالتصاالت مع الحكومة‬ ‫األسترالية‪ ،‬فقد اجتمع وفد من مجلس‬ ‫السفراء العرب مع وزارة الخارجية‬ ‫األسترالية وكذلك عقد اجتماع هام بين‬ ‫السفراء العرب ووزيرة خارجية استراليا‬ ‫السيناتور ببني وونــغ‪ ،‬حيث أوضحت‬ ‫للوزيرة الموقف الفلسطيني من العدوان‬ ‫اإلسرائيلي على قطاع غــزة وطالبت‬ ‫الوزيرة بالعمل على وقف فوري إلطالق‬ ‫النار لتسهيل وتمكين وصول المساعدات‬ ‫اإلنسانية لشعبنا الفلسطيني المحاصر في‬ ‫غزة‪.‬‬ ‫كما أوضحت لها األسباب الجذرية للصراع‬ ‫الفلسطيني اإلسرائيلي وضرورة إيجاد حل‬ ‫عادل وشامل للقضية الفلسطينية‪ ،‬كما‬ ‫أشــرت الى فشل المجتمع الدولي في‬ ‫إيجاد هذا الحل والذي أدى إلى إيصالنا‬ ‫لهذا الوضع الذي نشهده في قطاع غزة‪.‬‬ ‫ماهو تقييمكم لتعامل وسائل‬ ‫اإلعالم األسترالية مع أحداث غزة؟‬ ‫لألسف وسائل اإلعــام األسترالية هي‬ ‫جزء من االعــام الغربي الــذي تعامل‬ ‫بشكل منحاز إلسرائيل في هذه الحرب‬ ‫القائمة في قطاع غزة‪ ،‬وبالتالي قد لحقوا‬ ‫بشكل غير منهجي وغير أمين بمواقف‬ ‫حكوماتهم‪.‬‬

‫يوجد أكثر من ‪ 800‬ألف‬ ‫مستوطن اسرائيلي في‬ ‫األراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة‬ ‫سنة ‪ ،١٩٦٧‬وهم يشكلون‬ ‫بذلك أكثر من ‪ 20‬بالمائة من‬ ‫السكان الموجودون في الضفة‬ ‫الغربية‪.‬‬

‫ما هي الخطوات التي تقومون بها‬ ‫من أجل شرح قضيتكم للرأي العام‬ ‫االسترالي؟‬ ‫نظن أن القضية الفلسطينية قضية‬ ‫عادلة‪ ،‬والكثير من أحرار العالم يعلمون‬ ‫أن الشعب الفلسطيني مضطهد‪ ،‬وحقوقه‬ ‫ضائعة وأرضه محتلة‪ ،‬والشعب األسترالي‬ ‫يعي هذه الحقيقة‪ ،‬وما الحظناه من ردود‬ ‫أفعال يؤكد ذلك‪ ،‬فالمسيرات والمظاهرات‬ ‫الداعمة لغزة وفلسطين‪ ،‬ترجمت هذا‬ ‫الوعي إلى حقيقة وسلوك وأكدت أننا ال‬ ‫نحتاج لشرح قضيتنا‪ ،‬ألنها قضية احتالل‬ ‫اسرائيلي وشعب فلسطيني يفتقر ألدنى‬ ‫حقوقه المشروعة‪.‬‬ ‫يتخوف البعض من تشنجات ممكن‬ ‫أن تحدث في أستراليا في ظل‬ ‫تدهور الوضع في غــزة‪ ،‬فماهي‬ ‫رسالتك للمجتمع األسترالي؟‬ ‫نظن أن هذه التخوفات في غير محلها‪،‬‬ ‫حيث انطلقت مسيرات فــي مختلف‬ ‫دول العالم معبرة عن رفضها للعدوان‬ ‫اإلسرائيلي على غزة‪.‬‬ ‫استراليا كغيرها من الدول فيها المعارض‬ ‫وفيها المؤيد‪ ،‬ولكننا متفائلون بأن الوعي‬ ‫بالقضية الفلسطينية زاد لدى كل الشعوب‬ ‫بعد ما رأوه من قصف عشوائي وتدمير‬ ‫وتقتيل للمدنيين العزل‪.‬‬ ‫هناك عــدد مــن أبــنــاء الجالية‬ ‫الفلسطينية األسترالية عالقون‬ ‫فــي غـــزة‪ ،‬فهل هــنــاك إمكانية‬ ‫لمساعدتهم من أجل العودة الى‬ ‫أستراليا؟‬ ‫فــي الــوقــت الــراهــن غــزة محاصرة‬ ‫والعدوان ال يتوقف ليال نهارا‪ ،‬فبالتالي‬ ‫أي جهود لمساعدة الجالية الفلسطينية‬ ‫األسترالية‪ ،‬تبقى معلقة في انتظار انفراج‬ ‫األزمة وتوقف العدوان‪ ،‬وعند توقف هذا‬ ‫العدوان سننسق جهودنا مع إخواننا في‬ ‫فلسطين لمساعدة جاليتنا للعودة إلى‬ ‫أستراليا‪.‬‬

‫‪ 80‬بالمائة من المصادر الطبيعية وخاصة مصادر المياه‬ ‫تحتكرها اسرائيل باإلضافة إلى االنتهاكات اإلسرائيلية‬ ‫لحقوق اإلنسان الفلسطيني‪ ،‬والقمع المستمر سواء من حيث‬ ‫اإلستيطان أو القتل خارج القانون أو االعتداءات على األماكن‬ ‫المقدسة اإلسالمية والمسيحية في القدس وخاصة اإلعتداءات‬ ‫األخيرة على المسجد األقصى المبارك ومحاولة تقسيمه مكانيا‬ ‫وزمانيا‪ ،‬كما فعلوا بالحرم االبراهيمي في الخليل‪.‬‬

‫بالنسبة للمظاهرات التي جابت‬ ‫مختلف دول العالم‪ ،‬فهل في رأيكم‬ ‫ستنتصر إرادة الشعوب في أمريكا‬ ‫وبعض الدول الغربية على إرادة‬ ‫حكامها؟‬ ‫منذ الــعــدوان األخير على غــزة‪ ،‬كل‬ ‫شعوب العالم سواء في البالد اإلسالمية‬ ‫أوغيرها عبرت عن دعمها وتضامنها مع‬ ‫الشعب الفلسطيني‪ ،‬أما في بعض الدول‬ ‫الغربية التي تبنت حكوماتها موقفا مؤيدا‬ ‫إلسرائيل‪ ،‬رفضت شعوبها مساندة العدوان‬ ‫الذي استهدف األطفال والنساء والعزل‬ ‫من الشعب الفلسطيني‪ ،‬حيث تخرج‬ ‫الشعوب يوميا في مسيرات حاشدة داعمة‬ ‫ألهل غزة مستنكرة كل ما يحدث من‬ ‫انتهاكات صارخة لحقوق اإلنسان‪.‬‬

‫في رأيي دائما إرادة الشعوب تنتصر ألن‬ ‫ما يحركها هو الشعور اإلنساني وليست‬ ‫المصالح السياسية أو اإلقتصادية‪.‬‬ ‫كلمة أخيرة لقراء مجلة الوسط؟‬ ‫أشــكــر مجلة الــوســط على جهودها‬ ‫المتواصلة‪ ،‬والتركيز على القضية‬ ‫الفلسطينية إليصال صوت الحقيقة‪ ،‬ألننا‬ ‫نعرف جميعا أهمية اإلعــام في تنوير‬ ‫الــرأي العام والكشف عن الكثير من‬ ‫المغالطات التي تتبناها بعض وسائل‬ ‫اإلعــام المنحازة للقرارات السياسية‬ ‫والمواقف غير اإلنسانية‪ ،‬والتي كشفتها‬ ‫األحداث الواقعة في غزة اليوم‪.‬‬

‫تعود جذور الصراع في غزة‬ ‫إلى نكبة ‪ 1948‬و سياسة القتل‬ ‫والتهجير واالعتقال والتمييز‬ ‫العنصري‪.‬‬

‫ال يمكن أن ينجح مخطط تهجير سكان غزة الى سيناء أبدا ألنه يقوم‬ ‫على تطهير عرقي لسكان غزة‪ ،‬هناك وعي متزايد لكامل الشعب‬ ‫الفلسطيني والقيادة الفلسطينية‪ ،‬فالتاريخ الذي حصل في ‪ 1948‬لن‬ ‫يتكرر‪ ،‬تعلمنا درسا مؤلما وقاسيا‪.‬‬

‫في ظل الحرب الشاملة الوحشية التي تقوم بها إسرائيل ضد المدنيين‬ ‫العزل في غزة‪ ،‬وأمام تحالف بعض الدول الغربية مع قوات اإلحتالل‪،‬‬ ‫والتي زادت من حجم المعانات واإلنتهاكات الصارخة التي تستهدف‬ ‫المدنيين‪ ،‬حيث أصبح الوضع ينذر بكارثة إنسانية غير مسبوقة‪.‬‬ ‫وبهدف الوقوف على جذور المشكلة ومعرفة المخططات الصهيونية في‬ ‫غزة والضفة الغربية‪ ،‬كان لنا لقاء خاص مع سعادة سفير دولة فلسطين‬ ‫في كانبرا في أستراليا السيد عزت عبد الهادي‪.‬‬ ‫قبل الحديث عــن ما‬ ‫يــجــري فــي غـــزة‪ ،‬هل‬ ‫يمكنكم إعطائنا فكرة‬ ‫عن التركيبة السكانية للقطاع وما‬ ‫هي نسبة الالجئين فيه الذين‬ ‫نزحوا من أراضي ‪1948‬؟‬ ‫أوال نترحم على أرواح الشهداء ونتمنى‬ ‫للجرحى السالمة والشفاء العاجل‪ .‬فيما‬ ‫يخص قطاع غزة فعدد سكانه يتجاوز‬ ‫‪ 2‬مليون و‪ 200‬ألف نسمة‪ 80 ،‬بالمئة‬ ‫منهم من الالجئين الفلسطنيين الذين‬ ‫نزحوا من أراضيهم عام ‪ ،1948‬وبالتالي‬ ‫عندما نتحدث عن سكان غزة نقصد من‬ ‫فقدوا أراضيهم التى تبعد حوالي ‪40‬‬ ‫كلم فقط عن مساكنهم الحالية‪ ،‬إذ كانوا‬ ‫يمتلكون هذه األراضي قبل ‪ ،1948‬فتخيل‬ ‫هذه العالقة الحميمية القوية والوطنية‬ ‫والسياسية بين هــوالء الذين يعيشون‬ ‫في غزة وبين موطنهم األصلي وقراهم‬ ‫الموجودة خارج السور العنصري الذي‬ ‫بنته إسرائيل‪.‬‬ ‫لألسف الشديد منذ سنة ‪ ،2007‬أطبق‬ ‫على غزة حصارا كبيرا وشديدا استمر‬ ‫حتى هذه اللحظة‪ 16 ،‬سنة من الحصار‬ ‫برا وبحرا وجوا‪ ،‬الذي لم ي ّمكن القطاع‬ ‫من العيش بكرامة‪ ،‬وأثر ذلك بشكل كبير‬ ‫على األوضــاع السياسية واإلقتصادية‬ ‫واإلجتماعية‪ ،‬وبالتالي يمكننا القول إن‬ ‫القطاع مناضل وشعبه مناضل وله تاريخ‬ ‫عريق في النضال الوطني‪.‬‬ ‫هل يمكن ان تحدثنا عن الجذور‬ ‫التاريخية لهذا الصراع وعن العوامل‬ ‫السياسية التي أدت الى وصلنا اليه‬ ‫اآلن؟‬ ‫في حديثنا مع الصحافة حول ما يجري‬ ‫في غزة‪ ،‬نركز بشكل أساسي على اإلطار‬ ‫التاريخي والمضمون السياسي والعوامل‬ ‫المتجذرة التي أدت الى وصول الصراع‬ ‫إلى هذه المرحلة‪.‬‬ ‫هناك ثالثة أسباب رئيسية هي أساس‬

‫الصراع‪:‬‬ ‫أوال‪ :‬نكبة الفلسطينيين عام ‪ 1948‬حيث‬ ‫جرى تطهيرا عرقيا وطرد أكثر من ‪800‬‬ ‫ألف فلسطيني وتم تدمير أكثر من ‪500‬‬ ‫قرية في ذلك الوقت بسبب المشروع‬ ‫االستيطاني المدعوم من بعض الدول‬ ‫الغربية‪ ،‬على رأسها بريطانيا والواليات‬ ‫المتحدة األمريكية‪.‬‬ ‫وبالتالي لم يتم التعامل مع نتائج هذه‬ ‫الكارثة‪ ،‬باإلضافة إلى موضوع الالجئين‬ ‫الفلسطنيين الموجودين خارج فلسطين‬ ‫الذين يصل عددهم إلى ‪ 6‬مليون نسمة‪،‬‬ ‫لم يتم لهذه اللحظة إيجاد حأل لهم‪،‬‬ ‫رغم أن حق العودة لوطنهم األصلي جاء‬ ‫بناءا على القرار ‪ 194‬الصادر عن األمم‬ ‫المتحدة الذي ينص على العودة وتعويض‬ ‫الالجئين الفلسطنيين‪.‬‬ ‫ثانيا‪ :‬اإلحتالل اإلسرائيلي للضفة الغربية‬ ‫وقطاع غزة والقدس الشرقية عام ‪،1967‬‬ ‫أي منذ ‪ 56‬سنة هناك احتالل عنيف‬ ‫مــارس كل اإلنتهاكات التي ال يمكن‬ ‫تصورها‪ ،‬قامت اسرائيل بالسيطرة على‬ ‫األراضــي الفلسطينية التي تم احتاللها‬ ‫عام ‪ ،1967‬وهناك أكثر من ‪ 800‬ألف‬ ‫مستوطن اسرائيلي يقيمون في األراضي‬ ‫الفلسطينية المحتلة‪ ،‬حيث يشكلون أكثر‬ ‫من ‪ 20‬بالمائة من السكان الموجودون‬ ‫في الضفة الغربية‪.‬‬ ‫تحتكر اسرائيل ‪ 80‬بالمائة من المصادر‬ ‫الطبيعية وخاصة مصادر المياه باإلضافة‬ ‫إلى االنتهاكات اإلسرائيلية لحقوق اإلنسان‬ ‫الفلسطيني‪ ،‬والقمع المستمر سواء من‬ ‫حيث اإلستيطان أوالقتل خارج القانون‬ ‫أو االعــتــداءات على األماكن المقدسة‬ ‫اإلسالمية والمسيحية في القدس وخاصة‬ ‫اإلعتداءات األخيرة على المسجد األقصى‬ ‫المبارك ومحاولة تقسيمه مكانيا وزمانيا‪.‬‬ ‫كما فعلوا في الحرم االبراهيمي في مدينة‬ ‫الخليل‪.‬‬ ‫ثالثا‪ :‬لدينا أكثر مــن ‪ 5000‬أسير‬ ‫فلسطيني في سجون االحتالل‪ ،‬باإلضافة‬

‫إلــى الطرق االلتفافية الموجودة في‬ ‫الضفة الغربية‪ ،‬واعتقاالت األطفال‪ ،‬حيث‬ ‫تقوم إسرائيل بتطبيق قانونين‪ ،‬األول‬ ‫مدني يخص المستوطنين اإلسرائيليين‪،‬‬ ‫والثاني عسكري يطبق على الفلسطينيين‪،‬‬ ‫وهذا يعتبر نظام فصل عنصري وتمييز‬ ‫ضد الفلسطنيين‪.‬‬ ‫إن نظام الفصل العنصري «األبارتايد»‬ ‫في فلسطين أسوأ من الذي كان موجودا‬ ‫في جنوب إفريقيا‪ ،‬كما قال “ديزموند‬ ‫توتو”‪ ،‬كبير أساقفة جنوب إفريقيا‪ ،‬وقد‬ ‫أشــارت إلى ذلك أهم مؤسسات حقوق‬ ‫اإلنــســان على غــرار «هيومن رايتس‬ ‫ووتش»‪ ،‬حتى أن هناك شخصيات هامة‬ ‫في المجتمع اإلسرائيلي أشــارت إلى‬ ‫موضوع األبارتايد‪.‬‬ ‫بعد وصول الحكومة اإلسرائيلية المتطرفة‬ ‫تعزز هذا النظام والــذي أصبح يضم‬ ‫الفاشيين أمثال بن غفير وسموتريتش‪،‬‬ ‫(وهما متطرفان كانا مطلوبان أمام‬ ‫المحاكم االسرائيلية)‪ ،‬حيث كانوا‬ ‫يرفعون شعارات عنصرية وي ّدعون ان‬ ‫لإلسرائيليين الحق في التجول في الضفة‬ ‫الغربية أكثر من الفلسطينيين‪ .‬كما فعل‬ ‫نتنياهو قبل ثالثة أسابيع لدى عرضه‬ ‫خارطة على األمم المتحدة خالية من ذكر‬ ‫الضفة الغربية واألراضي الفلسطينية‪ .‬ال‬ ‫نجد حاليا أي مسؤول إسرائيلي يتحدث‬ ‫عن حق فلسطين في تقرير المصير أو‬ ‫حتى حلّ الدولتين نهائيا‪ ،‬بل يعتقدون أن‬ ‫هذه األراضي إسرائيلية وليست محتلة أو‬ ‫متنازع عليها بل تعتبر «جوديا وسماريا»‬ ‫حسب اللفظ العبراني الالهوتي القديم‪،‬‬ ‫أضف إلى ذلك موضوع الحصار على غزة‬ ‫منذ ‪ 16‬سنة والذي يعتبر انتهاك ًا صارخ ًا‬

On October 19th, over 100 health care professionals and their allies stood on the steps of the State Library of Victoria in response to the healthcare catastrophe in Gaza. This occurred following a similar rally the day prior in Sydney, and concurrently with another in Adelaide. The event opened with a speech

by the event organiser, Dr Jasmin Dabboucy, who established the premise of the demonstration: a call to “support basic human rights” and to recognise the sanctity of human life. After a minute’s silence, two Palestinian speakers took to the stage. The first was Dr Mohammad Irhimeh, a Palestinian haematologist from the Royal

Children’s Hospital. The second was Riyad Aladassi, a Palestinian nurse who has worked in Gaza and graduated from the Baptist school of nursing situated at Al-Ahli hospital. This was followed by a silent demonstration. The demonstration ended with a plea to the Australian government, delivered by Dr Shazeea Mohamed Ali.

the Bankstown library (80 Rickard Road, Bankstown) near the flags at Paul Keating Park and will remain available for our community to place flowers, reefs, placards and words of prayer during this tragic time.

Councillor Khodr Saleh Said “the Memorial is a place that rightfully acknowledges our community’s grief and hopefully a means to find comfort in this tragic and horrific time.”

HEALTHCARE CATASTROPHE IN GAZA: STATEMENT AND URGENT REQUEST We are Australian healthcare workers: doctors, nurses and allied health. We collectively mourn the loss of innocent life, and we reflect on our duty to provide care for all people regardless of nationality, ethnicity, creed or gender. We watch with horror at the ongoing bombing and siege occurring in Gaza. Israel has cut off electricity, fuel, food and water to 2.2 million people. Hospitals have been bombed. Medical care cannot be delivered. Surgery is being conducted without anaesthesia. Over 4000 Palestinians have been killed, 62% of whom are women and children. About 1.4 million people are internally displaced (as per the United Nations). These are war crimes. Doctors operating in Gaza are losing their lives. Hospitals operated by international aid organisations like Medecins Sans Frontieres are being attacked. Civilians sheltering in United Nations operated schools are being shelled. This is a humanitarian catastrophe. We remind the Australian government of its obligations in the international community. The Australian government recognises that Palestine is an occupied territory. In light of this we call on the Australian government to do the following: 1. Condemn the violence that is being conducted on all sides of this war, including the violence perpetrated by Israel. 2. Uphold standards of international law and hold Israel to these obligations. 3. Call for an immediate cessation of the bombing and siege of Gaza. 4. Support international efforts to open a humanitarian corridor to allow aid to reach besieged Palestinians. 5. Uphold the principles of universal human rights for all. We call on all our unions and medical associations – including the AMA – to be persistent and do the same. A CALL FOR REFLECTION ON THE UMMAH’S LEADERSHIP

Imam Kafrawi Hamzah The current Australian government under Labour has been very clear in its messages to all Australians of its unwavering tendency in the Palestinian conflict against the occupying Israeli force although the Labour Party before the National election reiterated time and time again in their statements that we cannot find any political party other than Labour in standing up for the rights of the Palestinian people. Almost all political parties in this region have expressed their succour for Israel against the downtrodden Palestinian people in the conflict at hand. Hence, I appeal to ANIC which has claimed to represent the voice of the Muslim Community to take a firm stance in expressing Muslim sentiments to the government in urging its sense of fair play in its foreign policy in standing up for the human rights of all people, in particular, of the suppressed Palestinian people. ANIC’s relationship with the government should be limited to a mouthpiece of the stance of the Muslim community towards government policies in all aspects especially those which negatively impact Muslims and their demand for their rights as citizens. ANIC is urged to show its unwavering seriousness to the government in carrying out the aforementioned tasks. It has to appear in the eyes of the Government as a dignified body representing a dignified community. Islam is identical to justice, hence, any Islamic organization/ association or public figure that does not champion justice lacks credibility. Indeed, the rise and fall of a nation or an organization depends very much on its leadership. Likewise, I also appeal to AFIC

to not just follow patterns in issuing its media releases that the Ummah hardly benefits from. And instead of reading them, people just trash them in disregard. AFIC has lost its credibility with the Ummah, and the Ummah has taken its stand towards AFIC by rejecting almost everything that comes from the organisation. AFIC needs a leader with a vision and integrity who places the interest of the community above that of individuals. The organization has lost its vision and direction and needs a change in its leadership to save it from sinking further down the abyss. AFIC has been in such disarray resulting from our indifference to keeping an eye on how its affairs are being managed by people who imposed themselves to be elected by any means necessary without fear of accountability. AFIC recently spent over $100,000 of the Ummah’s money to reprint the Quranic translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. We all know that Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s translation is difficult to understand as commented by Maryam Jameelah (an AmericanJewish woman who embraced Islam) and by many others, to whom English is their native tongue. How unnecessary! That amount of money should have been used for something else that is more beneficial for the Ummah, unless they did it for other reasons. There is a famous saying:

DOCTORS IN DESPAIR

Dr Jasmin Dabboucy Healthcare workers across the globe are in agony. In the late hours of October 17th, Al-Ahli Baptist hospital - located in Gaza City - was attacked by an Israeli airstrike. This indiscriminately killed at least 500 innocent civilians, approximately half of whom were children. This was not just an attack on medical care, but an attack on humanity. As is the entire siege on Gaza. Israel has cut off electricity, fuel, food, and water to 2.2 million people. Medical communities working and volunteering in this warzone – striving to uphold the sanctity of human life – have been stripped of their ability to deliver care. Doctors, nurses, and paramedics alike are being martyred. Before the attack on Al-Ahli hospital, there were at least 57 separate Israeli attacks that killed 16 health care workers and injured 28 others. Among these was Yosry Al Mosry, a paramedic from Beit Hanoun village on the northeast edge of the Gaza strip. On October 11, Al Masry and five fellow paramedics were targeted and killed while trying to save lives. A dear friend of Al Masry, Riyad Aladassi, is an anaesthetic and recovery nurse working in Melbourne. The recent hospital blast is particularly close to home for him, having completed most of his clinical placements at Al-Ahli hospital. The grounds on which he’d play soccer on his lunch breaks has now turned to rubble. To put it simply, what is happening in Palestine is a humanitarian catastrophe. As blatant international crimes get committed, the medical community in Australia is at a loss for words. I am a doctor. My duty is first and foremost to my patient, regardless of race, gender, age, or creed. My

peers and I made an oath: to do no harm. To be beneficent and just. To protect and to heal. To bear witness to these atrocities, even from so far away, feels like a betrayal of our fundamental values. We cannot sit still or remain silent. Whether a person is religious or not, political or not – human life is sacred. Hospitals are universal healing grounds, not warzones. No one has the right to leverage and target them like this. In the face of adversity, our colleagues in Palestine continue to serve. Phone torches are being used to conduct operations. Children are being stitched without anaesthetic. Lives continue to be saved with the absolute bare minimum. Aladassi relays a statement from a colleague currently working in Gaza: “We will not leave. We will not abandon our people”. Oh, my Palestinian brothers and sisters. We will not abandon you either.

ISAA MEDIA STATEMENT ON PALESTINE Amidst the escalating humanitarian crisis in Palestine, the Islamic Schools Association of Australia strongly condemns the indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. We firmly support peace, adherence to international law, and the protection of civilian lives. The recent events have deeply saddened us. Since October 7, more than 8,000 people have been killed, including over 3,000 children and this number keeps increasing on a daily basis. This dire situation is profoundly affecting our school communities, a significant number of whom have relatives and cherished ones residing in Gaza and the Occupied Territories. The continuous targeting of numerous hospitals, places of worship such as mosques and churches, schools, shelters, and designated safe zones has had a devastating impact. We stand in solidarity with the global community in condemning the deliberate and indiscriminate targeting of civilians, including innocent children, women, and the elderly. We also condemn the

inhumane occupation of Palestine and the blockade of Gaza’s 2 million residents. The pain and distress caused by these events extend far beyond the Middle East. Australian Muslims, along with all individuals who value peace, are deeply affected by this violence. We are very concerned about the recent rise in Islamophobia, and anti-Palestinian racism that has infiltrated public discourse. Racism and discrimination is extremely damaging and serves to fracture communities. We call upon the Australian Government, as well as faith leaders, organisations, and the global community, to demand an immediate ceasefire and the permanent end to the occupation of the Palestinian people. The path to peace is challenging, but it must be pursued with unwavering determination and a deep commitment to justice. Here in Australia, October 2023, the lying racially tainted campaign against the recognition of an Indigenous Voice to Parliament was successful. The First Nations leadership went into one week’s silence, mourning the rejection. Naïve voters were told that they might lose their homes, Muslims were told that they would no longer be able to bring relatives here. Vague conspiracy theories like those during the pandemic were touted, such as a hidden wicked Zionist or fascist agenda behind the move to change the racist constitution. Duttton, with his record of walking out on the National Apology, warning of African gangs in Melbourne and laughing about rising sea levels in the Pacific, made great use of two indigenous faces to call for a No while accusing Yes campaigners of divisiveness. He topped it off after the failure of the referendum by trying to get a Royal Commission into child abuse in indigenous communities, to the shock of many of his own party, one of whom crossed the floor in parliament.

Referendum Results The referendum results were catastrophic.

They showed that white colonialism was alive and well in the Great Southland. The strongest No vote was in Parkes electorate, with Moree where Aboriginal children were banned from the pool until the Freedom Rides of 1965. Just on 80% voted No in that electorate. On the otherhand there was light within the inner city electorates. Teal electorates, which were once strongly Liberal supporting, voted Yes, suggesting that the Liberal party crusade will not deliver seats in old strongholds. The No supporters tried to claim that the First Nations electorates voted against the Voice. Although the northern electorates, all with white majorities voted No, examination of booths showed a different reality. Antony Green, our national guru on elections stated in his blog: “If you drill down within electorates to voting patterns in communities with a high proportion of indigenous residents, you detect more information about how Indigenous voters in these communities voted. And the majority voted Yes. But even this is difficult to extrapolate to a broader Indigenous vote scattered in smaller proportions across the country.” [antonygreen. com.au]

Racism and Ignorance The Referendum Campaign brought out racists from under their rocks. “The CPAC conference, of which Warren Mundine is chairman, was dominated by criticism of the Indigenous voice referendum. Mundine and Price, the leaders of the Fair Australia campaign from conservative political group Advance, were the headline speakers of the two-day conference. “ “Other speakers included

Just how popular she is with First Nations people is indicated by the Guardian article: “Central Land Council leaders say Jacinta Nampijinpa Price ‘needs to stop pretending we are her people’.” “Ninety leaders in Northern Territory issue statement condemning comments from Coalition spokesperson on Indigenous Australians.” [20 April 2023 Guardian] Her declaration that colonisation had no bad effects but in fact positive effects on the Indigenous community was an important reactivation of the assimilationist mindset which we were in the process of eliminating on the grounds that it did not work for 200 years. Killing for Country That the publication of David Marr’s Killing for Country came just after

this drivel was fortunate. It received wide publicity in both corporate and social media. It traces the history of colonisation from the days of the Limits of Location. The colonists saw the land as freely available to them for the first people did not apparently cultivate the land but just wandered across it. The official government line was that the Aborigines were British subjects with the rights of British subjects, but this was not enforced. Those British subjects could not give evidence in court because unlike the civilised Europeans they could lie without fear of Hell if sworn upon Scripture. The Myall Massacre by white thugs was actually punished so the squatters decided to be more subtle in their killing of blacks– they poisoned the flour they gave out. The Native Police, recruited from tribes far from other nations, commanded by white officers, were used for many years to subdue the tribes, to the extent that any large gathering of Aborigines could be fired upon. Those who spoke out in defence of these victims were called “croakers” and were regarded as traitors to the white colonists and the Empire which the colony served. The colonial equivalent of “woke.” The pattern of colonisation was clear. Invasion and land occupation, resistance by the original inhabitants, reprisals from the colonists, intensified resistance, topped by genocide, physical and cultural. The Native Police and the squatters did the physical while the Mission Stations did the cultural For someone purporting to speak for Indigenous Australians to claim this was positive is ludicrous.

Lessons from October 2023 While the Voice to Parliament was defeated and the government has accepted that defeat, all is not lost. We have identified the sources of race hatred in the community. We heard opposition demands that we not be racialized by the Voice, but their first action after the defeat was to attempt to get a racialized Royal Commission into sexual abuse in Indigenous communities. We have seen in action the role of the corporate media including the publicly funded ABC, in the No campaign in support of the politicisation of the issue. The stacked ABC Board is now better understood. We have established the extent of public ignorance over the Gap between the First Nations and the general Australian community on basic indicators like life expectancy, suicide rate, educational level and incarceration rates. A larger proportion of the Australian population, over 40%, has been made aware of the need to Close the Gap, more than were aware before the campaign. Millions have been mobilised and their activism will not just disappear but will be reflected at the grassroots level across the country. It might be disconcerting that we are surrounded by a sea of racism and ignorance, but it is likely that ignorance is the main enemy. That can be overcome with effort, assuming the basic decency of the people.

GALLIPOLI HOME, AGED CARE FACILITY AL WASAT - Sydney Growing old can be quite challenging for many senior citizens. The fear of being left behind leads to social isolation, the inability to maintain the quality of life and lifestyle that is desired by elders especially those who are culturally diverse and in need of specific types of catering that consider their religious practices and cultural backgrounds calls for an adequate approach.

Gallipoli Home, an aged care facility located in Auburn, New South Wales, is taking on the challenge with a vision of setting a high standard for aged care where elders of culturally diverse and Muslim backgrounds feel right at home. Dr Abdurrahman Asaroglu, the managing director of the Gallipoli Turkish Cultural Foundation and Gallipoli Home grew up in Auburn. Being the son of Auburn Gallipoli Mosque’s first Imam, he took an engagement in Auburn’s Community and had a strong inclination to its elders. Dr Abdurrahman attained his PhD degree in sociology of religion at the University of Melbourne and studied Auburn LGA, he worked as a chaplain for a while through the Islamic Council of NSW and actively engaged in visiting healthcare facilities and hospitals. Many of the encounters with the elders who were suffering left him with a big impression. After being appointed the role of mosque association president in 2013 he initiated the Aged Care project with a construction team. They had a lot of obstacles such as funding, and community acceptance as well as design specifically for a culturally diverse Muslim community. The team worked to obtain government funding and a Sharia-compliant bank loan as well as community support. By October 14th, 2018 the aged care facility was up and running providing a diverse set of staff members and supporting clients from several backgrounds having recently celebrated its 5th anniversary on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. According to research that was done for the purpose of this project, the number of Muslim residents in different aged care facilities has grown from 400 residents a couple

of years back to approximately 1000 residents currently all around Sydney, the reason being is that of an aging Australian population. Dr Abdurrahman pointed out that the situation in other aged care facilities is unfortunate due to their lack of cultural sensitivity toward Muslim communities. Gallipoli Home is doing its best to accommodate the needs of its community and has produced many services such as home care services, sending qualified and certified staff, and working with about 130 houses under the necessary regulations which can be immensely appreciated by the elders in need. In the words of Dr. Abdurrahman, the modern age has altered the unit structure of the traditional home where people now have to be adaptable to their work environment and occasionally being required to travel and or live in a different city away from their parents thus leaving elders on their own and creating vital risks to their health. The best way to face this issue is by having responsible and educated old care centers that take care of their health by monitoring their medicine and dietary programs and catering to them. The connection between the elders and the staff at the Gallipoli Home continues to grow stronger and the wholesome nature of their bond is said to be a source of honor for the staff who take pride in being perceived as sons and daughters by the elders. The deaths of some elders are not also taken lightly and their departure from this world is taken to heart while helping them recite the “shahada” in their last moments which is the most culturally sensitive thing a Muslim can wish for.

‫عن طريق اإلعالم»‬ ‫حاوره عبد القادر عزوز‬ ‫يكتسي اإلعالم‬ ‫أهمية كبيرة خاصة‬ ‫بالنسبة للجالية‬ ‫المسلمة في أستراليا‪ ،‬حيث‬ ‫يجد ابناء الجالية في البرامج‬ ‫اإلذاعية ضالتهم ويستأنسون‬ ‫بالحصص التي تطرح‬ ‫انشغاالتهم وتعالج قضاياهم‪.‬‬ ‫ومن هذا المنطلق كان لنا‬ ‫لقاءا خاصا مع الحاج ابراهيم‬ ‫الزعبي مدير البرامج في إذاعة‬ ‫الصوت اإلسالمي‪.‬‬ ‫بداية نرحب بكم ونود لو‬ ‫تقدمون لقراء مجلة الوسط‬ ‫نبذة عن مسيرتكم المهنية؟‬

‫أتيت إلى أستراليا عام‬ ‫‪1970‬ومنذ ذلك الحين وانا‬ ‫أعمل بجد ونشاط والحمد‬ ‫الله‪ ،‬أتواجد في مدينة سيدني‪،‬‬

‫أشغل اآلن ادارة إذاعة الصوت‬ ‫اإلسالمي بأستراليا‪ ،‬وكنت أول‬ ‫من بدأ باإلعالم اإلسالمي سنة‬ ‫‪ ،1992‬وأول من قدم برنامج‬ ‫للسحور في رمضان على “أس‪.‬‬ ‫ب‪ .‬أس” بعنوان”الفجر”‪.‬‬ ‫وبعدها انطلقنا من مسجد‬ ‫اإلمام علي بن أبي طالب‬ ‫كرم الله وجهه وأنشانا إذاعة‬ ‫واستوديو‪ ،‬انطلقنا من هناك‪،‬‬ ‫ثم انتقلنا إلى المجلس اإلسالمي‬ ‫في الوالية وأنشأنا استديو‬ ‫هناك أيضا‪ ،‬كان ذلك منذ سنة‬ ‫‪ 1997‬لغاية ‪،2001‬ثم انتقلنا‬ ‫إلى هنا في الكميا وشيدنا هذا‬ ‫المبنى وما زلنا نبث ‪24/24‬‬ ‫ساعة يوميا‪ ،‬مختلف البرامج‬ ‫السياسية‪ ،‬االجتماعية والدينية‪،‬‬ ‫يعني كل أنواع البرامج‪.‬‬ ‫نحاول من خالل هذه البرامج‬ ‫مساعدة الجالية اإلسالمية‬ ‫عن طريق اإلعالم‪ ،‬كما نعمل‬ ‫على أن نكون همزة وصل بين‬ ‫الحكومة األسترالية والجالية‬

‫المسلمة‪.‬‬ ‫معظم البرامج المقدمة هي‬ ‫باللغة العربية‪ ،‬هل لديكم‬ ‫خطة لزيادة البرامج باللغة‬ ‫اإلنكليزية؟‬

‫يتم تقديم البرامج في أغلبها‬ ‫باللغة العربية أي بنسبة مايقارب‬ ‫‪ 90‬بالمئة‪ ،‬ولكننا نعمل ونخطط‬ ‫ليكون البث ‪ 50‬بالمئة بالعربية‬ ‫ومثله باإلنجليزية‪ ،‬إلى أن نصل‬ ‫لنسبة ‪ 80‬بالمئة إنجليزي و‪20‬‬ ‫بالمئة عربي‪ ،‬ذلك ألن الجيل‬ ‫الموجود حاليا في استراليا ال‬ ‫يعرف العربية‪ ،‬لذا علينا التركيز‬ ‫على اإلنجليزية لضمان توجيه‬ ‫حقيقي لهذا الجيل‪.‬‬ ‫بالحديث عن البث اإلذاعي هل‬ ‫تعتمدون على البث المباشر؟‬

‫اإلذاعات اإلسالمية لها أدوار‬ ‫متعددة منها دور ثقافي‪ ،‬وكذا‬ ‫نشر تعاليم الدين اإلسالمي‬ ‫وتقديم الفهم الصحيح لإلسالم‪،‬‬ ‫وإعطاء دروس ونشر الثقافة‬ ‫االسالمية وربط الجالية‬ ‫بالمجتمع االسترالي وتوجيه‬ ‫الفرد المسلم بمعرفة القوانين‪.‬‬ ‫كما نستضيف نخبة من أبناء‬ ‫الجالية من أصحاب الرأي‬

‫المصدر الرئيسي للتمويل هو‬ ‫اإلعالنات ثم بعد ذلك تأتي‬ ‫التبرعات‪ ،‬ففي كل شهر رمضان‬ ‫نقيم حملة تبرعات كبرى‪،‬وهذه‬ ‫الحملة تعطينا دفعة مالية من‬ ‫مصادر إسالمية وغير إسالمية‪،‬‬ ‫ونحن منذ أكثر من ‪ 26‬سنة‬ ‫نعمل على هذا المنوال ولم‬ ‫نتوقف ألن العطاء ال يتوقف‪.‬‬

‫المدرسة اإلسالمية في كانبرا‪ ...‬تسعى لفتح‬ ‫فصول جديدة إستجابة لإلقبال الواسع‬ ‫الوسط ‪ -‬كانبيرا‬ ‫تــهــدف الــمــدارس‬ ‫اإلســـامـــيـــة في‬ ‫أســـتـــرالـــيـــا إلــى‬ ‫إعـــداد الطالب المسلم من‬ ‫جميع النواحي وربطه بالعقيدة‬ ‫اإلسالمية والحفاظ على هويته‬ ‫وأصالته‪ ،‬ومن بين المدارس‬ ‫الناشطة في هذا المجال‪ ،‬نجد‬ ‫المدرسة اإلسالمية كانبرا‪ ،‬التي‬ ‫كان لنا لقاء مع مديرها الدكتور‬ ‫محمود عيد‪ ،‬للحديث عن نشأتها‬ ‫وما تقدمه للجالية المسلمة‪.‬‬ ‫تأسست مدرسة كانبرا اإلسالمية‬ ‫سنة ‪ ،2005‬بحسب ما ذكره لنا‬ ‫األستاذ محمود عيد الذي أصبح‬ ‫مديرا لها منذ عام ‪ ،2020‬وكانت‬ ‫في البداية إحــدى المدارس‬ ‫التابعة ل “أفــيــك”‪ ،‬ولكنها‬ ‫انتقلت إلى ملكية جديدة بنهاية‬ ‫عام ‪ ،2017‬ومنذ بداية ‪2018‬‬ ‫اصبحت تحت إدارة جديدة تابعة‬ ‫لجمعية دعوية باسم اي بي دي‪.‬‬ ‫سي‪.‬‬ ‫وعــن التحديات التي مرت‬

‫بها يقول مدير المدرسة «لقد‬ ‫مرت المدرسة بإختبارات صعبة‬ ‫وتحديات كبيرة ومتعددة‪ ،‬ولكن‬ ‫بفضل الله عز وجل‪ ،‬استطعنا أن‬ ‫نتجاوز هذه الصعوبات ونصل‬ ‫إلى ّبر األمان ونحقق االستقرار‬ ‫والتقدم بمشيئة الله»‪.‬‬ ‫وفــيــمــا يــخــص عـــدد طــاب‬ ‫المدرسة يوضح عيد‪ ،‬أنه لكون‬ ‫كانبرا‪ ،‬مدينة صغيرة‪ ،‬وأكثر‬ ‫ساكنيها يشتغلون بالتجارة والعمل‬ ‫الدبلوماسي وفي مختلف الدوائر‬ ‫الحكومية‪ ،‬فهناك حركة مستمرة‪،‬‬ ‫وبعض ممن يأتي إلى كانبرا قد‬ ‫ينتقلون الحقا إلى سيدني أو‬ ‫ملبورن‪ ،‬أو قد يسافرون إلى‬ ‫الخارج بعد انتهاء خدماتهم‪،‬‬ ‫أي أن هناك تنقل دائم‪ ،‬لذا لم‬ ‫يكن عدد الطالب في المدرسة‬ ‫كبيرا وكان يترواح ما بين ‪250‬‬ ‫إلى ‪ 300‬طالبا‪ ،‬أما اليوم فعدد‬ ‫الطالب يبلغ حوالي ‪ 400‬طالبا‬ ‫تقريبا‪ ،‬وهناك أكثر من ‪100‬‬ ‫طالب على لوائح االنتظار‪.‬‬ ‫«تشهد المدرسة اليوم إقباال‬ ‫كبيرا بسبب سمعتها الممتازة‬

‫والطيبة‪ ،‬وهناك ضغط كبير‬ ‫لتسجيل المزيد من الطلبة في‬ ‫المدرسة نظرا لالقبال المتزايد‪،‬‬ ‫ولكننا لالسف ال نسطيع استيعاب‬ ‫كل أبناء الجالية»‪.‬‬ ‫وعــن قلة اإلستيعاب يقول‬ ‫مدير المدرسة ان ذلك يتعلق‬ ‫«بعدم وجــود فصول دراسية‬ ‫كافية‪ ،‬باإلضافة إلى النقص في‬ ‫عدد المدرسين في المدارس‬ ‫األسترالية‪ ،‬رغم أننا نقدم رواتب‬ ‫جيدة وتنافسية تتراوح بين ‪85‬‬ ‫ألف إلى ‪ 121‬ألف دوالر»‪.‬‬ ‫وعن األفاق المستقبلية تطمح‬ ‫المدرسة لفتح ثالثة فصول‬ ‫جديدة في العام المقبل وقد‬ ‫يتم توسيعها إلى خمسة فصول‬ ‫حسب ما يؤكده األستاذ عيد‪،‬‬ ‫إذا تم توظيف العدد الالزم من‬ ‫المدرسين‪.‬‬ ‫كبقية الــمــدارس األسترالية‪،‬‬ ‫تـــدرس الــمــدرســة المنهاج‬ ‫األسترالي باالضافة الى التربية‬ ‫االسالمية واللغة العربية والقرآن‪،‬‬ ‫وتحصل المدرسة على تمويلها‬ ‫من طرف الحكومة األسترالية‪،‬‬

‫الدكتور محمود عيد‪ ،‬مدير المدرسة اإلسالمية في كانبرا‬ ‫مــع تحصيل رســـوم مدرسية‬ ‫متواضعة من أولياء االمور‪.‬‬ ‫وتسعى المدرسة على الدوام‬ ‫لرعاية الطالب واالهتمام بهم‬ ‫واتباع أفضل الوسائل التعليمية‬ ‫لتهيأتهم للمرحلة المقبلة من‬ ‫التعليم الجامعي‪.‬‬ ‫وتلعب المدرسة دورا هاما في‬ ‫إعــداد أبناء الجالية المسلمة‬ ‫لميادين العمل مستقبال‪ ،‬شأنها‬

‫في ذلك شأن بقية المدارس‬ ‫اإلسالميه االخرى في استراليا‪.‬‬ ‫تتوجه المدرسة على لسان‬ ‫مديرها بجزيل الشكر للجالية في‬ ‫كانبرا على ثقتهم في المدرسة‬ ‫وعلى دعمهم المتواصل للمدرسة‬ ‫وتعاونهم لما فيه مصلحة أبنائهم‬ ‫وبناتهم وترجوا إدارة المدرسة‬ ‫أن يتواصل التعاون مع األهالي‬ ‫لما فيه مصلحة الطلبة والجالية‪.‬‬

THE GROWING NEED FOR ZAKAT IN NON-ISLAMIC COUNTRIES Abdelkader Azouz Zakat is one of the five pillars in the religion of Islam and one of the most impactful practices that directly translates to helping those who are in need. With a vision for Islam to flourish in society, National Zakat Foundation is a revolutionary initiative that started 10 years ago in 2013 and which aims to utilise Zakat funds and voluntary donations collected in Australia for the benefit of local, deserving recipients. In an interview with Abu Muneer Ismail Davids, the CEO of the foundation, he talks about the importance of zakat on a global scale and hopes to correct some misconceptions about it being limited to poor countries or not needed in more developed countries. He encourages people who think that zakat Is not needed in Australia to educate themselves on the categories of zakat which makes it invaluable in any place in the world. According to the teachings of Islam zakat is the 3rd pillar and the one that upholds the other four by looking after the physical, financial and emotional needs of a person and up to a community, and that every

adult Muslim around the world is required to implement it in their life along with the other four pillars without any exception. Helping educate people about zakat, how to calculate it, collect and distribute it is the main goal for building this foundation in Australia stated Abu Muneer, but another important aim is for it to become a long-term destination for future generations who find themselves in need of help. The foundation’s current campaign called “Catching Those Falling Through the Cracks” aims to help a variety of categories of people including: new Muslims in need of support and resources, those suffering from the loss of a loved one, single parents facing challenges to raise their children, orphaned children and widows, victims of domestic violence, displaced individuals and families, people suffering from addiction, and neglected elderly individuals. In the past 10 years, the foundation was able to distribute over 15 million dollars of zakat in Australia by helping more than 210,00 individuals through various campaigns as the one mentioned, 514 of which were victims of domestic abuse, 7833 were suffering from financial hardship, 1982 cases related to

homelessness and housing, and 774 cases of need of medical assistance. According to Abu Muneer, the need of zakat never ceases, many people around Australia daily face issues like losing their jobs, getting evicted, being subject to abuse, and people in need of proper burial. There is not one mosque in Australia that will bury a person without payment and in the last month we were able to help 10 families bury their dead commented Abu Muneer. Another recent campaign run by the foundation is “caring connections” which was created to help people with medical conditions, particularly “cancer and breast cancer” and the families that struggle under the shadow of illness. With the high cost of living looming around, the lives of people living in middle class can easily be affected by such incidents specified Abu Muneer and implores Muslims who are suffering and in need to go to them for help and assures them that there’s nothing to be ashamed about since everything is to be done in privacy and with confidentiality. This is a part of our “Deen” just like praying or fasting he confirms and shouldn’t affect anyone’s dignity. We have a team of 20 people working in five available centers

NATIONAL SKILLS AGREEMENT CRITICAL TO GROW THE CONSTRUCTION WORKFORCE The Housing Industry Association (HIA) welcomes the National Cabinet’s announcement of the National Skills Agreement. The Agreement promises to invest $12.6 billion to expand and transform the VET sector to deliver quality training and reforms which address our critical skills needs,” said Jocelyn Martin, HIA Managing Director. “Earlier this year National Cabinet committed to building 1.2 million homes over the next 5 years. To build these much needed homes, it is critical that we have the key skills

and workforce in place to enable us to achieve this target. “This investment is a key plank in addressing the skills shortages, strengthening our VET sector and training and upskilling workers into national priority areas including construction. “Part of this agreement includes the establishment of nationally networked Centres of Excellence involving partnerships between TAFEs, universities, Jobs and Skills Councils and industry,” added Ms Martin.

Whilst broadly supportive of these targeted ‘Centres of Excellence’ which can focus on key skills gaps, HIA stresses the importance of the Australian Government broadening the focus beyond TAFE’s to also recognise the key role played by industry specific training organisations. These organisations deliver training developed by industry for industry and also have the capacity to deliver targeted skills in regional areas. Included in the $12.6 billion funding is $100 million to support, grow and retain a quality VET workforce, $250

million to improve VET completions including women and others who face completion challenges and $142 million to improve foundation skills training capacity, quality and accessibility. “The National Skills Agreement promises to deliver much needed changes to the VET system and the opportunity to target skills and reforms which will make a difference to our industry and our capacity to deliver on the Government’s plan to build 1.2 million homes,” concluded Ms Martin.

‫شخصية جمعت بين التألق في رياضة‬ ‫التايكاوندو والعمل الخيري واإلنساني‬ ‫عبد القادر عزوز‪ -‬سيدني‬ ‫هــــي مــســيــرة‬ ‫حافلة جمعت بين‬ ‫الــريــاضــة والعمل‬ ‫الخيري‪ ،‬وشخصية بــرزت في‬ ‫رياضة التايكواندو في أستراليا‬ ‫فحققت االكثير من المكاسب‬ ‫وتركت بصمتها من خالل العمل‬ ‫اإلنساني الذي تجسد في بيت‬ ‫الزكاة بسيدني ‪.‬‬ ‫عصام عبيد الــذي كانت لنا‬ ‫فرصة لقائه‪ ،‬حــاول اختصار‬ ‫مسيرته الرياضية ألكثر من‬ ‫‪ 43‬سنة‪ ،‬فمن لبنان كانت‬ ‫البداية‪ ،‬وفي أستراليا أثمرت‬ ‫التجربة‪ ،‬وفي هذا الصدد يقول‬ ‫«رحلتي في الرياضة بدأت‬ ‫سنة ‪ ،1969‬في نــادي النصر‬ ‫الــريــاضــي بطرابلس شمال‬ ‫لبنان‪ ،‬كانت البداية مع رياضة‬ ‫الجودو والكراتيه‪ ،‬ولما سافرت‬ ‫إلى أسترليا عام ‪ 1973‬بدأت‬ ‫بممارسة رياضة التايكواندو‬ ‫والتي ال أزال أمارسها»‪.‬‬ ‫تمكن عصام عبيد من التميز‬ ‫والتألق في هذه الرياضة التي‬ ‫روت شغفه‪ ،‬ليصبح بعد فترة من‬ ‫الممارسة مدربا ويتمكن من‬ ‫إنشاء عدة فرق‪ ،‬برزت وشاركت‬ ‫في عــدة بطوالت‪ ،‬كما يعتبر‬

‫الوحيد الذي تخرج على يديه‬ ‫أكثر من ‪ 55‬ماسترز أي متحصل‬ ‫على الحزام الرابع فما فوق‪،‬‬ ‫فيما بلغ هو أعلى المراتب في‬ ‫التايكواندو بحصوله على الحزام‬ ‫التاسع “دان”‪ ،‬منذ تسع سنوات‪.‬‬ ‫وال يــزال عصام عبيد يؤطر‬ ‫ويدرب‪ ،‬فكل األمور بالنسبة له‬ ‫جيدة سواء في فترة اإلمتحانات‬ ‫أو تخرج دفعات الرياضيين‪،‬‬ ‫وعن الشباب الذين يخضعون‬ ‫للتدريب والتكوين يقول عبيد‬ ‫أن هناك دفعة من الشباب ممن‬ ‫دربهم استطاعوا أن يتأهلوا‬ ‫ويشاركوا في األلعاب األولمبية‬ ‫في ‪ 2012‬في لندن‪ ،‬و‪ 2016‬في‬ ‫ريو دي جانيرو‪ ،‬وطوكيو‪،2021‬‬ ‫حيث أحـــرزوا نتائج إيجابية‬ ‫ونالوا المراتب األولى‪.‬‬ ‫كما تمكن أحــد تالميذه من‬ ‫أن ينال العضوية في اإلتحاد‬ ‫العالمي للتايكواندو‪ ،‬ونال رتبة‬ ‫أحسن حكم في العالم في سنتي‬ ‫‪ ،2018, 2014‬وهو من حكام‬ ‫األولمبياد‪.‬‬ ‫وعــن عــدد التالميذ الذين‬ ‫تعلموا أصــول هــذه الرياضة‬ ‫القتالية على يديه‪ ،‬يذكر عبيد‬ ‫أن العدد تجاوز ‪ 15‬ألف تلميذ‪،‬‬ ‫منذ سنة ‪ ،1979‬وهو يشغل اليوم‬ ‫رئيس «األشيانة تايكواندو وولد‬

‫تايكواندو أرغنزايشن»‪ ،‬حيث‬ ‫يعمل على التحضير للمشاركة‬ ‫فــي األلــعــاب األولمبية التي‬ ‫ستجرى في باريس سنة ‪.2024‬‬ ‫وعن بيت الزكاة التي يشرف‬ ‫على إدارتها أكد عصام عبيد‬ ‫أنها تاسست قبل سنة ‪ ،1986‬من‬ ‫طرف شخصيات تركوا بصمتهم‬ ‫في العمل الخيري على غرار‬ ‫الحاج أديب المعرباوي وشاوي‬ ‫كبارة والشيخ خليل شامي رحمه‬ ‫الله وغيرهم‪ ،‬وكانت اإلنطالقة‬ ‫الكبيرة في السنة المذكورة‪،‬‬ ‫بفضل ـجـهــود المتطوعين‪،‬‬ ‫وقد انضم لهذه الهيئة شباب‬ ‫وموظفين ورجـــال األعــمــال‬ ‫ممن يق ّدروا العمل التضامني‬ ‫واإلنساني‪ ،‬حيث تم كفالة أكثر‬ ‫من ‪ 647‬يتيم‪ ،‬هذا إلى جانب‬ ‫أعمال خيرية أخرى يوفرها بيت‬ ‫الزكاة‪.‬‬ ‫ولتوسيع عمل هــذه الهيئة‬ ‫اإلنسانية خارج حدود أستراليا‬ ‫تم التعاقد مع مستشفى في‬ ‫لبنان للتكفل باألرامل واليتامى‪،‬‬ ‫ليبقى السيد عبيد شخصية‬ ‫اســتــثــنــائــيــة ســخــر األخـــاق‬ ‫الرياضية ليكون نموذجا ناجحا‬ ‫في الرياضة وعنصرا فاعال في‬ ‫العمل الخيري‪.‬‬
