COLOR REPORT: FALL WINTER 2015-2016

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
This Color Report is a reconnaissance into
the moods and energy flowing intuitively through fashion of the moment. Fashion has to paint a big

picture; not only does it take into account style, but also expression, emotion, utility, and, functionality. And in order to truly resonate, it must have relevance to this world. Taking cues from art, music, events, cultural ideals, and current zeitgeist. Each chapter of this report attempts to take a snap shot into four

different combinations of the sorts; color being the unifying expression of all. Color has the ability to transcend all and assign a pure hue to expression. Each chapter has a unique color story share no words can uphold in the same way. Best,

This color story takes on the title Public Domain to address issues today with the rise of social media, over commercialization, and constant overexposure to images, logos, branding. Because of this issue most consumers have become numb to traditional means of advertising. Colors that were once used sparingly to shock and grab our attention in advertisements are now common place. This is expressed by the fashion world in graphics, optical patters, and bold pairings of color.

Coven speaks to the darker inner workings in us. An individualistic mind set that forms from the creativity within and rejects all external influences. Hand drawn graphic elements and stripes represent this. Coven’s moodiness unleashes a rebellious side usually only reserved for the night, manifested in overwhelming black with blood red hues.

Supernature is what will happen when humans begin to listen to nature. When human kind, technology, and nature fuse together in beautiful harmony. Perhaps it such a big undertaking, that we translate this trend as futuristic as a subconscious way of procrastination. Supernature’s palette consists a large range of transitional pastels. Digital printing is used often as a way to translate the digital world to the physical world. Shinny details and holographic elements capture and reflect light into a spectrum otherwise unseen.

History repeats itself. As does fashion. Modern Relevance is an ode to the dusty bookcase full of beautifully bound leather texts, myths, stories, and tales that timelessly have captured imaginations. These colors are soft, rich, and enticing; as if beckoning one in for a closer look at the brush strokes of an old renaissance painting. Classic fashion silhouettes will become irresistible with rich embroidery and fringe and gold accents.
