HAPPY NEW YEAR D13W!!

Welcome to the 8th issue of The Spiking Scoop! I can't believe 2023 is finally here! I hope everyone ended their 2022 year with no regrets! hope you all has a wonderful winter break, Christmas (if you celebrate) and New Years!

My first Rose Float Decorating was a blast! Although decorating the floats were tiring, having the chance to help the community and bond with my fellow Key Club members made it all worth wild. It was a long 6 hour day and by the end of the day my home club devoured 8 Domino's pizzas.

Winter Solstice is coming back yipieee! If you don't know what Winte Solstice is, it's our division formal full of fun, dancing and recognitions Members have the opportunity to "buy" the Division Leadership Team (DLT) and be apart of the Royal Court! (proceeds will go to PTP)

NEW SPEED NEW YEAR

Hedgehogs, we’re rolling faster than ever before. Can you believe it? All the service, fundraisers, and training conferences and now we’re in January. It’s like a new beginning. As you make your new starts, let your inner hedgehog spirit continue to roll you to being as spiking as you could ever imagine. For hedgehogs, January doesn’t represent the start, but rather the point of reflection and drive in hibernation. Whilst reflecting on the term’s pasts, let’s make an even better future. We have many goals to reach and events to experience. Roll with me before my term ends in hibernation!

what is DCON?

District Convention (DCON) is an annual event held to celebrate the achievements of the term, elect the new District Executive Board, attend educational workshops, meet new Key Clubbers across California, Nevada, and Hawaii, and welcome the new term!

Key club is such a fun and comfortable club, I’m able to help out the community while having fun with friends. I really like how easy it is to bond with people inside of key club, I’ve probably made 10+ friends all just from fall rally. Key club really just feels like a big family, I’m so glad I joined.

I don’t know which one’s better Halloween or Dia De Los Muertos?! On November 1st, Legacy Key Club participated in the Kiwanis Dia De Los Muertos event! They did face painting on children, ran pumpkin decorating booths and gave out candy.

MOVIE NIGHT

On December 16, Lincoln Key Club held a movie night in their schools very own black box theater! From 3-5pm members had a chance to interact with other members and enjoy a Christmas move "Home Alone." At the event, hot chocolate and popcorn was sold for $2. In total 12 members showed up to support Lincoln Key Club!

what is conclave?

Conclave is a region event where the next Lieutenant Governor is elected. Each candidate has a chance to say their speech and answer caucus questions before the voting. Delegates from each school (2) vote for the candidate that is best fit for the position.
