Foster Youth Backpack Drive

Esteffany Paredes Historian|South Gate

On August 7th, Key Club participated in the Foster Youth Backpack Drive. This event was located at the Ninos Latinos Unidos. Key club members volunteered to help children have a great back to school time. Key clubbers helped set up tents, pass out food/drinks, and distribute school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, shoes, hand sanitizers, and masks. The food that members helped make and distribute was hotdogs, tacos, popcorn, slushies, and fruit. Prior to the event, members gathered together to make cards for the children. These cards contained motivational words and drawings to encourage the children to do their best in returning to school. Key club members volunteered because they understand the struggle of preparing for back to school. They wished to help struggling students feel more prepared and excited to return to school. Overall, Key club members were happy to be able to help others. Want to feature your Article or Visual in the Newsletter? Send in YOUR Article and Visuals to DNE A'Nya (d13w.cnhkc.dne22@gmail.com)

Foster Youth Card Making Esteffany Paredes Historian| South Gate

From August 2nd-6th, Key club members made cards for the Foster Youth backpack drive. Key club held a meeting discussing their contribution to the Foster Youth Backpack drive where they decided to make cards for the children. All week long members made cards that contained encouraging words and small drawings for the children returning to school. Some people decided to meet up together and make the cards together while others made cards on their own. Each member made about 7-10 cards each. Not only did Key clubbers bring the cards but they also brought stickers and bracelets for the children. Overall, Key clubbers were happy to take time out of their day to create something special that could brighten up children's day.

Mia Zambrano Historian| King Drew On July 29, King/Drew had their first fundraiser of this term. They had a Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser. King/Drew’s Key Club was challenged to come up with a fundraiser idea inspired by the song Watermelon Sugar. At this fundraiser officers helped distribute the donuts that were purchased by members of King/Drew’s Key Club as well as family and friends. They set up a table in front of King/Drew to do the distribution. It was a successful fundraiser and fun for all the officers who participated.
