Dear <Name> and <Name>, Eastern’s campus is a buzz with new and returning students this fall semester. You can feel the energy of students as they head to classes, settle into their dorms and apartments, cheer at sporting events and text each other all across campus. As a business school graduate, I remember those days like they were yesterday, working hard at pursuing my own dreams. I would consider my time as a student at Eastern among the happiest days of my life … and it keeps getting better. Many of today’s students gain the full benefit of their college experience when they become immersed in campus life. Fifteen years ago, I was one of those students. When I attended EMU, I had the privilege of receiving scholarships which helped pay for my tuition and room and board. That financial assistance allowed me to work on campus, do a business school co-op at a local restaurant, and join social and academic student groups -- all of which enriched my own college experience. As an upperclassman, the College of Business became my home away from home. It was there that I took most of my classes, tutored other students in the Accounting Lab, and gained valuable work experience from my student position within the Accounting Department. My first two years of college I lived in Jones Hall and enjoyed all the nuances that dorm life can bring. As I think back to those days, it never occurred to me that each of my experiences were funded and built based on gifts from donors like you. A decade after graduating from Eastern, I find myself back to where I started. I currently work as the Finance and HR Manager at the EMU Foundation. In my position, I see first-hand the process of fundraising – making solicitations, procuring donations, creating funds and awarding scholarships – and it has given me a newfound appreciation for the scholarships that I received as a student. As a donor, you have helped shape the future of EMU students. Your past gift is truly valued by our community of faculty and students. Today, EMU is asking for your continued financial support to help fund needed scholarships, new technology, and other campus improvements. By renewing your support with a gift of <AMOUNT> You keep Eastern a vibrant place to learn and grow – allowing students to achieve the full educational experience. My story of success is shared by multitudes of EMU students – the details may change but the commitment to learning and the desire to excel is a common bond we all share. Professors not only teach, they become mentors. Students receive an excellent education that builds the foundation for our careers. And, we build lifelong relationships. Eastern is where I met my husband of 10 years. Brandon and I proudly share our ‘EMU Love Story’ with everyone we meet. The life we built together now includes two wonderful children, who are already Eastern fans. Eastern not only educates, it changes thousands of lives annually – of students and the communities in which they live and work. Let’s keep a good thing going. I give back to EMU and I hope you will too. Sincerely,
Nicole (Caruso) Roberts (BBA00) Accounting, Magna Cum Laude
