SUGGESTED BEQUEST LANGUAGE This suggested language is intended to provide examples, not legal advice. The Eastern Michigan University Foundation recommends that you consult your attorney or financial advisor regarding your personal circumstances and estate planning wishes. Bequest Language “I give, devise and bequeath to Eastern Michigan University, [Select one of the following clauses, either (a) or (b)] a. the sum of $___________; or b. a dollar amount equal to __________ % of my adjusted federal gross estate to be used for the benefit of Eastern Michigan University or the following program or fund__________________.” THE HERITAGE SOCIETY The Eastern Michigan University Heritage Society recognizes those who have documented a current bequest provision in their will or estate plan. In addition, membership is extended to those who have made qualified planned gifts, which may include life-income gifts or naming Eastern Michigan University as a beneficiary in an individual retirement plan. Qualifying gifts may include: • A bequest intention • A completed bequest via will or living trust • The designation of Eastern Michigan University as the beneficiary of a retirement plan, annuity, etc.
