PROJECT PROFILE

I n the hot - semi arid climate of Ahmedabad lies lush green Spring Valley Scheme with many bungalows. One such bungalow is Milly -- designed beautifully to match the needs of the users and the region. Family of four with 2 young kids stay in this beautiful abode of dreams. The house is tastefully designed to have a combination of vernacular aesthetics with modern interiors. The semi luxurious apartment is a blend of creativity and coming of age design.

The house has a subtle warm wooden tones to it. The usage of natural light and rich blend of furniture with colour play makes it more exciting! A sloping bridge overseeing the living room, a kids slide running parallelly to the wooden steps are some of the highlights of the house interiors.

CHALLENGES

A huge double heighted structure with inclined glass roof and an open plan in their living room created challenges for us to have 5.1.2 Cinematic sound system and controlled mood lighting. With natural light pouring in, we had to devise automated shade for the sunroof. With inclination of 45degrees, Sonance with its versatility in its product line proved to be a boon. In wall subwoofer was installed with 3 frontline atmos speakers & 2 Cornered Audio Speakers to chase a cinematic experience. Installation of projector lift was an interesting task as it was planned under a bridge which ran across overseeing the living room below with wooden finish at the base.

Another aspect of the house was about its constructed walls that were made out of sand, so it was challenging to run across wires without chipping of edges and material off the wall. With a clear understanding and systematic planning with the interior designer, we were able to do it with a neat finish!

SPECIAL FEATURES

Roof windows can help you enjoy the sun all year round. However, sometimes too much sun can make it hard to function – if you want to watch TV without the glare, wish to control the light and create a more romantic atmosphere, or want to keep some of the heat out, for instance. This is when blinds or shutters are very helpful.

And this is where All Automatic stepped in with automated blinds/curtains for the roof to support mood lighting inside the the room!

PROJECT PROFILE

H aving travelled to Europe, clients had liking & affinity towards having a european style of architecture which evenually was brought to reality with help of architects onboard. The client had four-bedroom home with enough public spaces to host several socials. Three generations were to live together in this bungalow, with all of them enjoying the company of guests at home -“a teenage boy, a young couple and elderly in-laws—all with a robust social life” as quoted the architect. All Automatic brought in the flavour of products & brands which suited their taste as well as the aesthetics of european settings brought in by the architect.

Having 3 generations staying in the huge abode, key was to bring technology to life with an ease of access to all as well. Eventually with all the expertise, All Automatic were able to achieve, what was promised for!

CHALLENGES

A huge double heighted structure at the entrance called for beautiful controlled lighting to enhance the beauty of the porch walkway. But having said that, planning for light was a challenge in a way where the controls were to be placed at G.Floor but mounting of lights were right at the top. Since the roof was inclined, running of wires was structured in such a way that they are hidden and could easily allow decentralised control system. With proper planning and expertise, it was made possible.

Planning of wall junctions and trap-door junctions and aesthetics of it was made to camouflage with the interior style of the house.

European style windows have a sleek rim which gives hardly any room for fixtures of locks and fittings which are needed for automation. The possiblity of fixing door locks with minimal space cover was a key feature of our expertise.

All in all, we worked our way towards making things possible by customising it to fit the aesthetic and user needs.

SPECIAL FEATURES

A flyout feature, was an interesting element we added to the experience of space in terms of technology wherein touch screen keypads were installed in all the rooms. This feature enabled quick control access of lighting, music, security etc to the users specific to the room. Another feature was Alexa Controlled Automation which added to Aural experience of the space.

H aving lived in a strictly urban environment all their lives, the family wished for a haven that connects them to the outdoors, thus making the landscape and the green pockets equally important. The built form is articulated to open out to the expanse of a large garden on the north, and other pockets of greens around. The outdoor spaces are imagined as a series of open or intimate pockets that house different possibilities of interaction for the family- sometimes a dinner with friends, or a barbecue with cousins, or simply an evening chai on the swing. North-south spine of the house through the courtyard space connects the internal and outside, thus blurring the barrier between the two. The first floor also has its share of terraces as outdoor pockets on the north overlooking the lawn, and on the southwest. The recreation room and the lounge open out to this terrace, which becomes a venue for a lively evening of entertainment, and to enjoy the evening breeze.

CHALLENGES

A house which is designed conceptually with central courtyard which in itself is a light source for spaces organically designed around it- posed an interesting challenge of having artificial lighting in spaces with ample amout of natural light and also having them dimmable as and when needed. The design of house was such that it had less ceiling suface area (common areas) to play with in terms of lighting as visible in the image 2.2 on the left. The challenge was pretty much straighforward, that the lighting needs to be provided but with wall surface and needs to be decentralised as a holistic system.

Rako, a multifaceted and versatile brand, provided us an opportunity to play around with their products and control as per the user needs.
