PORTFOLIO
LANDSCAPE FOR PLAY, Madrid - Paisaje Para El Juego Playground Design Project at Aberrant
Architecture, 2019 (Imagery courtesy of Aberrant Architecture)
“Landscape for Play” is an installation devoted to the idea of free play. Inspired by the Dutch Playground Designer, Aldo Van Eyck, “Paisaje Para El Juego” or “Landscape for Play” is a leisure-based proposal that shifts the shapes of the surrounding city in to an interior space. The installation itself uses a translation of the urban space through play, utilising shapes and colours that invite children of all ages to use the space in a newly engaging and imaginative way. The interior play-scape is composed of follies, sunken spaces and different height elements that don’t impose strict and rigid restrictions in terms of how people must behave and play.
This flexibility means that the playground can be used as a setting for a range of activities that go beyond the traditional notion of a “playground”. The playground was installed in Madrid from April 2019 through to September 2019. Working on this project forced us to think spatially, graphically and logistically in order to develop the structures remotely from London. The programme required us to form an advertisement campaign that comprised of graphical posters aswell as a short animation that would be broadcast on public screens across Madrid and across the whole of Spain.”Paisaje Para El Juego” is for children of all ages.

LAUGHING MATTERS, Victoria & Albert Museum Exhibition Design Project at Aberrant
Architecture 2018/19 (Imagery courtesy of Aberrant Architecture and the Victoria & Albert Museum)
British comedy is justly famed, not only as a source of entertainment and collective experience, but also for its power and precision as an acute tool of cultural and political critique. “Laughing Matters” was designed to help instil those core values that British Comedy has bought to countless homes over the past 100 years and celebrate it’s ever evolving content. The exhibition houses curated items and footage that are categorized into specific themes regarding British Culture and attitudes reflected through comedy over time. Split across two floors, the installation provides an exhibition spaces on the ground floor and a co-working/
learning space in the space above where the theme of comedy is constantly present. Custom designed display case reflect iconic British artistic styles that help reflect and resonate within the Gallery Space whilst using, block, matte colours to distinctly increase Gallery 55 recognisable elements within the collection. Interactive elements also play a part including interactive media screen with audio Elevation Diagrams telephone handsets alongside graphically designed captions and showcases that allow for user input aswell as user participation. “Laughing Matters” brings the past 100 years of British Comedy to life and returns its iconography into our Museum Living Room. 600mm 600mm 600mm

Indicative Display Objects
A continuous frieze system, inspired by the Robert Adams bookcase in the V&A British Galleries and by Cruickshank’s cartoon The British Bee Hive, provides an holistic container of cells or alcoves in Gallery 55, for various display scales and strategies.
1
Glazed cells mimic antique cases and bureaux; selected panes in glazed displays could utilise thickened, curved or textured glass to underline the idea of ‘distorted’ and warped views. Patterned and coloured alcoves could indicate thematic connections between the objects on display. Larger alcoves are augmented with a variety of treatments for the surrounding apertures: lenses or peepholes in smaller alcoves could form viewing ‘cameras’, embedded with video content, while others could host interpretation graphics, or fragile objects in protective cases.

SOCIAL HOUSE, Shanghai
Aberrant Architecture 2018 (Imagery courtesy of Aberrant Architecture)
The idea of the Hearth has been around for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. A place for gathering, meeting and socialising around a collective group of personalities. Using this idea and concept of the Hearth, SOCIAL HOUSE was developed to expand that notion and take it out from the private sphere, to the public sphere. Social House consists of five Hearth structures, reflecting that of chimneys, that break through the lattice structured roof, retaining that aesthetic. The structures themselves containing several uses in the forms of perching, leaning, sitting and leaning. All of these being forms of informal socialising. The SOCIAL HOUSE uses its
structures to house books, and magazines to allow for provocation of conversation, allowing a free flow of socialising and meeting within and around it. Centered in the heart of Xintiandi in Shanghai, the installation itself will last through the Summer of 2018, allowing users and passers by to filter though the exhibition and allow the life of the SOCIAL HOUSE to thrive. The idea of the hearth is a timeless feature of the home alongside the dwelling and the narrative of a collective gathering, SOCIAL HOUSE is here to capture it. Aberrant Architecture 2019 (Imagery courtesy of Aberrant Architecture) aid the movement of hot desking and a kinetic working environment. Drawing up detail designs and creating colourful visuals helped us drive our notion of an active workspace that also including a filming, set space to provide broadcasting capabilities to the outside world. We wanted to make sure that we were breaking down the barriers to fitness and create a truly motivating and connected fitness and working experience that keeps people coming back for more to use a series of spaces that is hardly ever thought of as a combined treatment. With this project we are applying what we’ve learnt over practice, to help revolutionise an industry.

Fiit’s interactive, online platform is bringing boutique studio fitness into everyone’s living rooms. Designing their brand new office space and studio headquarters provided us with a challenge that felt natural in maintaining their mission to make fitness addictive. Retaining the fitness and active theme, we decided to design a working space that could be turned quickly and flexibly into a working out, active space. Using gym flooring, bespoke furnitures our creative input allowed Fiit to believe in our vision and execution of what will become their most important and exclusive space. RIBA VALIDATION EXHIBITION Self-Directed Exhibition Design Project at Central
Saint Martins, 2018 and models. The space itself I decided to separate into aisles to allow a circulated space to help with the journey of the assessment and also provide a space to sit, and allow discussions and meetings to take place during the assessment week. Using my skills at 2D and 3D CAD, planning and executing the exhibition was quite a familiar process and easily achievable with the space provided. Central Saint Martins were awarded with a High Validation Distinction and a commendation on the presentation and display of the exhibition and its curated content. This project allowed me to work collaboratively and also at a hands on level, alongside computer design work. 0.28
Every 4-5 years, the (BA) Architecture Course at Central Saint Martins is validated by a board of pre-selected, external RIBA members, who come to assess the overall work from the current/past year. In 2018, I was selected to lead, design, build and curate the RIBA Validation, post graduation from the course. As someone with an intimate knowledge of the course, its contents and well maintained relationships with students and staff, it was a tremendously exciting project to lead that was completed within 3 months, from concept to build completion. The exhibition itself demanded bespoke furnitures to be built and works to be resized with accompanying objects

Visions of the Future in Blade Runner
END OF YEAR CATALOGUE PUBLICATIONS
Investigating the Sets and Theories Constructing a City on the Edge of the Future. Centered around set design and the application of Architectural Theory in Film whilst being a study of Ridley Scott’s 1982 production of, Blade Runner. I discuss the conception, production and execution of the project in relation to it’s influences and sources, amongst real architectural sets used in the film. From Corbusier to Archigram, Sant’Elia to Peter Cook, the writing demonstrates an extremely important link between two fields of study that I deeply connect with. It is a critical piece of work that questions whether set design can become a form of experimental and predictive science.
Rounding each academic year off, a publication highlights the student work throughout the year. I have been a part of the core team that provides the design and layouts for content. These publications are printed en masse and left on show at the annual end of year University Degree Show. They are presented and used as a tool for further recruitment for the University and the course. Working closely with a professional Graphic Designer, I have been able to learn layout and Graphical skills that have in turn, helped with Portfolio and Professional Publications. Harnessing these graphical skills have made me more flexible for working both collaboratively and independently.

MARINA-VILLE
Graduate Final Design Project | Tutors - David Chambers and Kevin Haley The concept of maritime is etched into the fabric of Canvey Island. Sailing and Yacht clubs, Marina workshops and the iconic Chapman Lighthouse still carry significance towards the identity of Canvey today. Marina-Ville, aims to target the distancing generations and create a masterplan to regenerate the Marina environment by reviving a forgotten community. Island seniors can help share knowledge of craft and history, through construction and archiving, teaching new skills to engaged youths. In turn, youths will help maintain the area, through the management and development of new skills, helping run the area. This agenda aims
to set up several spaces enforcing a generational bridge featuring Tidal Pool Classrooms (extracting educational potential of the natural environment), Boat and Mechanical Workshops (providing jobs and opportunities such as apprenticeships), surrounded by Tidal Social Spaces, using submersible structures to help link both the land and the sea. The proposal will offer a contemporary and feasible solution to renovating the existing run-down area of Oyster Creek and breathe a new life back into the Marina. Focusing on The Point of Canvey Island, the proposal will address making and learning within a natural and artificial landscape.

In response to my material test series I developed a Material Totem. This model, representing a programmatic element, such as a tidal pool, and using intended materials in its composure. This model is also to be used as an experiment to decide the most suitable material upon exposure to water. The model is to be placed in a sealed container and exposed to periods of water interaction over 1-2 weeks. A way to determine the integrity and suitability of the most successful test materials.

RAPHA CYCLECROSS INSTALLATION
Luxury is no longer simply about the rarest materials, their elegance and their expense. It has developed into mindful luxury. Designing this proposal, we understood that a high end sustainable consciousness has developed as our effect on the natural world has become more apparent. Our Living Monument Naturally Luxurious, celebrates the LIFE of each product, and congratulates LVMH on its commitment so far. This will be achieved through eight cylindrical installations. Every column tells the story of how each Maison honours the LIFE program. This story is literally told though the materials that are protected and used.
In collaboration with Rapha, for their cyclecross event, this particular one in King’s Cross. In keeping with the theme of bicycles, we designed a bike tyre bench that would accommodate up to 5 people and was weather resistant. Group Project of 4 people. Constructed from recycled bicycle tyres resting on an internal steel frame which is embedded in concrete foundations. The structure is able to be mobile and weatherproof.

DEGREE SHOW EXHIBITION AND PAVILION
LONDON FESTIVAL OF ARCHITECTURE
Engagement is the foundation of crucial research. Being truly immersed in a community provides the ultimate platform for ideas. First hand interaction with users allows for conversations which create a richness in the development of concepts; no project should begin without a form of user-engagement. For this proposal, my team and I produced activities on site for specific age groups. These took

These activities were devised to gauge local issues and potentials. Direct communication with the users is, without question, a key aspect of progression within my projects.

VAULT SPACE
University Design Project | Tutor - Andrew Friend Using my position as a “designer” and the catalyst of production in urban development, I carried out research on the site of Dover Street, Mayfair. Using hidden means of production and services as my central theme, I started investigating and developing a programme that would compliment and further my current research strain. Vault Space
provides a tailored and unique service to its clientele. A secured and monitored storage and banking facility for those in need of maximum security for their possessions and keepsakes. Using major precedents from bunker architecture, to pop culture and film studies, Vault Space has undeniably become the impenetrable fortress on Dover Street.
SAVILE ROW UNMASKED
FURNITURE WORKSHOP
After observing, uncovering and investigating the total area, my project became focused on Savile Row. I was fascinated by the means of production and craftsmanship that took place directly within the businesses on Savile Row, to my surprise. Research began to interrogate why these specific crafts were still situated in house today. The very exclusive character
Based in Elephant & Castle, London, this project was tailored to accommodate the local community in constructing tailor made “nomadic furniture” which would allow easy transportation and construction.
