Be prepared for a variety of weather conditions when packing for an international locale. Think in layers, starting with breezy clothing for

warmer days, plus long pants and sweaters for cooler nights on the water. Depending on the time of year, be prepared for unpredictable weather. You may want to include waterproof shoes and rain ponchos that fold small and can easily be tucked in a suitcase or carry-on bag.

When packing, skip items that can easily be found internationally.

For example, aspirin, magazines and other

reading material, or extra razors. These common items can be found in airport shops

or at your destination, should you need them during your travels.

CLOTHING TIPS: NEUTRALS To avoid over-packing, pick neutral clothing that can be mixed and

belt and a pair of heels for an evening out. With this method, you can significantly reduce the amount of items in your luggage.

CLOTHING TIPS: ROLL, DON’T FOLD

Rolling your clothes takes up less space than folding each item. Keep this in mind: • Rolling can cut down on wrinkles and creases,

especially for items made of synthetic fabrics.

• The rolling method works well for shorts, socks, undergarments, & sleepwear.

• Cotton is one fabric that doesn’t take well to rolling.

S AV E R O O M You’re likely to pick up souvenirs on an international trip, so be sure to leave space in your luggage. Another idea is to pack an empty tote or duffle bag, folded small so that it takes up virtually no space. At the end of the trip, it can be filled with souvenirs and checked or carried

separately. If you’re still low on extra room, use all the space you can: tuck small souvenirs into shoes or clothing pockets.
