‘RED SEA ADVENTURE FISHING SAFARI’. HUGE
PREDATORS, WHERE THE DESERT MEETS THE WATER .................................... Africa-Angler.com, in association with our partners in Egypt, is proud to promote our sport-fishing organisation in the most southern Red Sea region of Egypt, around 160 km south of Marsa Alam. An excellent and beautiful popping and jigging fishing destination, only 4-5 hours’ direct flight from Europe, the only great Giant Trevally destination within such a short distance. The weather conditions are perfect almost all year round. It very rarely rains, however you can sometimes encounter windy conditions and it’s very hot in July and August. This destination is for hard core anglers and will test some of your physical capacities. Fishing is possible all year around, however the best fishing time is from October till the end of June. Our fishing safaris allow us to reach out to vast areas in the Red Sea, offering great potential and a fantastic variety of fishing, in areas some nearer and some further away from the coast. The amount of fishing spots is countless within a totally virgin area of the Red Sea. Our fishing areas are free from industrial fishing and totally unspoiled. We apply “catch and release” except for the occasional fish for the table. In addition to the fantastic fishing on offer, you will have access to world famous scuba diving, snorkelling, wind and kite surf, beach relaxation, cultural excursions and visits of ancient Egyptian temples.
THE FISHING This destination is also perfect for those who want to initiate themselves into popping and jigging without spending too much for the first time or by combining their passion for sport fishing with a beach resort holiday that offers many other activities such as world famous scuba diving, snorkelling, wind and kite surf, beach relaxation, cultural excursions and visits of ancient Egyptian temples. We have some of the toughest, craziest, hard-fighting fish in the world right here in the Red Sea. Giant Trevally, blue spotted Trevally and other Trevally species, Amber Jack, Dog Tooth Tuna, Yellow fin Tuna, Golden Dorado, King Mackerel and Wahoo, Giant Barracuda, Sailfish and Sharks can all be caught on lures, poppers and jigs. And hard-pulling reef fish like the Lutjan ohar/Red Bream, Rosy Jobfish, Groupers, we got them all. Try fishing off your boat in the evening or at night for these reef dwellers. Fishing techniques: popping (with poppers & stick baits), fast- jigging (140 300gr) and trolling, also night and bottom-fishing with baits. Our local fishing guides know the area very well. You will fish on high marine plateaus, reef drops, channels, surface reefs and some islands. Try out plenty of different lures, poppers and jigs to see which ones work the best. Our guides will aim you in the right direction to make sure you catch the fish of your dreams! The amount of fishing spots is countless within a totally virgin area of the Red Sea. Our fishing areas are free from industrial fishing and totally unspoiled. We apply “catch and release except for the occasional fish for the table.
TACKLE TALK We suggest the following gear for our Red Sea Fishing Safari trips: RODS AND REELS 1 x 6-7ft Boat/trolling rod with large capacity trolling reel loaded with 80lb mono line. Good all-round rod for reef fishing and trolling for Giant Trevally, blue spotted Trevally and other Trevally species, Amber Jack, Dog Tooth Tuna, Yellow fin Tuna, Golden Dorado, King Mackerel and Wahoo, Giant Barracuda, Sailfish and even Sharks 1 x strong 7ft Popping rod (200-400g) with X strong spinning reel loaded with 65-80lb braid, tough enough to cast big poppers to 200g. Good outfit for general heavy bottom action as well as on top for GTs, Dogtooth Tunas and Barracudas and many other species. 1 x strong 6ft Jigging rod (140-300g) with X strong fast-jigging spinning reel loaded with 65-80lb braid. Tough, fast fishing but worth the fight for all the above species too. Can also be used on bottom reef dwellers like Groupers, Red Bream, Jogfish and Dogtooth Tuna. 1 x heavy 6’6”–7’6” baitcasting or spinning rod should be matched with a baitcasting or spinning reel with capacity of min. 120m of 50-65lb braid. This outfit can be used for reef fishing on the bottom for smaller species. *Always bring spare line and a multi-tool.
SET-UPS Your fishing equipment should be fully adapted to the type and power of the fish you are going to encounter and we recommend overall 65-80lb strength set-ups. Equipment rent: please let us know what you need and we will make you a rental offer although you may bring your own fishing gear for trolling, popping and jigging. The gear used is very much comparable to other similar destinations like the Maldives, Great Barrier Reef, Guinea Bissau, Madagascar and Oman. LURES FOR TROLLING: Best producing lures for trolling on Rapala X Rap deep divers, CD 14, 18 and 22s, rubber squids, coneheads etc. LURES FOR POPPING AND OTHER SURFACE BAITS: Large poppers with wide mouths like Dumbell 200s, Halco Haymakers, Braid Sparta, Offshore Angler etc. mixed giant stickbaits like Megabait Surface Darters, pencil poppers and many others can be used to entice huge topwater explosions from aggressive predators like GTs, Barracudas etc.
JIGGING: Jigs for reef fish come in every shape and size available. Butterfly jigs like the BC One 160 and 200gr work really well and cover a wide variety of fishing conditions and depths. * We recommend you change out your popper and stick baits to one large treble hook (7-9/0) at the back of your lure. This way you will do less damage to the fish and you will have less failed hook-ups. ** We sell on site at very competitive prices: Dumbell Popper 200 (125g), Bomber trolling lures 30+ and Jig CB One 160g and 200g.

It follows a circle itinerary and is operated with anglers living aboard. Our 22m live aboard has a capacity for up to 6 people in 3 double cabins with 2 sharing toilet and shower facilities. The boat has a kitchen, bridge, dining area in and outside, DVD, echo sounder, GPS, electric generator, saloon and a terrace. The boats offer a good basic level of comfort and are very well adapted to this kind of fishing trip. In the late evening and at night you may continue fishing with live or dead baits from the stern terrace, it’s great fun – 24 hour fishing is possible! Beers & wine can be ordered separately in advance, we practice normal European prices. Soft drinks are also available and can be paid at the end of the trip. Other activities on the live aboard are snorkelling, scuba diving on special request only, kayaking, sun and fun. This category of fishing safari will give you the most intense fishing time. It’s for anglers who are focused on tropical fishing for popping and jigging. On lunch breaks you may enjoy snorkelling on a reef edge or just relax and prepare for the afternoon fishing. At night, the live aboard is anchored behind the reef barrier, protected from wind and waves.
