A

s Hong Kong continues to grow as an international business hub, the supply of attractive and affordable office spaces is becoming scarce. Therefore, some companies have had to explore places outside the traditional business center in Central. Many of them have settled in Quarry Bay and Tai Koo, located a little further down the island. Previously a residential and industrial area, the neighborhood has steadily been growing into a commercial center with banks, advertising and information technology companies setting up offices in Taikoo Place and its 10 office towers. With the increased volume of workers in the area, more restaurants, cafes and bars have opened up to offer trendy dining and drinking locations. With more and more out-of-town workers coming to work in the neighborhood, living accommodations have increased as well, particularly service apartments like the brand-new Taikoo Place Apartments. The 28-story building is located walking distance from the Quarry Bay train station and just outside the Taikoo Place commercial complex. The building immediately catches eyes as the façade is a striking juxtaposition of glass, stone and aluminum. The immersion of modern design extends to the interiors as the lobby has handcarved limestone for walls, high-quality European wood flooring and a stunning chandelier to welcome guests.

There is a total of 111 units tailored for professionals in Taikoo Place Apartments. With 63 studios, 40 one-bedroom suites, six two-bedroom suites and two penthouses, there is accommodation for anybody making the move to Hong Kong. Each unit is laid out to maximize space, efficiency and natural light as they all have large floor-to-ceiling windows allowing for plenty of sunlight to enter. The dozen trees are all at least over 100 years old and are on the Hong Kong Government’s list of “Old and Valuable Trees.” They used to be on the site of the former Whitfield Camp Barracks for British forces. When the

barracks were removed in 1968, the site was developed into Kowloon Park and most of the trees were left there. Camphor trees are considered feng shui trees, which are believed to bring good luck and harmony. Residents will be treated to plenty of greenery and open space in the beautiful and spacious Kowloon Park sitting across the street from The Camphora.
