About the Community

Community Service Salt Lake Home Builders Association Members Help Build Communities Like many of you who give of yourself, we aren’t really good at sharing our own story. Our members self-select to participate in our organization with ambitions of bettering our communities. Certainly, one would expect us to advocate for homeownership knowing it is vital to any civilized society. But are you aware that we are engaged in providing for the less fortunate as well? You may notice we contribute a great deal to Make-A-Wish® Utah through the Parade, however, we are anxiously engaged in doing many projects all year long. Our Community Service Committee, chaired by Gary Pugmire, is committed to helping our neighbors in need. In the last year, our members have built—at no cost— wheelchair ramps, therapy rooms, ADA accessible bathrooms, new window treatments, and even put on a new roof. Our members volunteer their time to help and donate materials for the completion of these projects. Today, we are nearing the finish in building out a basement for a young man who is wheelchair-bound. His needs couldn’t be met in the family’s existing living space, so we moved to the unfinished basement to provide needed therapy. Our goal is to help improve the communities we live in and helping as many people as possible. Providing assistance to people who may not have the means or connections to get the needed repairs or new projects completed is the lifeblood of this committee. We would love for you to join us in working on these efforts. Or, if you have or know of a need, please reach out. We didn’t just fix their leaking roof, we were able to get them a completely new roof just in time for Christmas!
