Our Events Even though our seasons are highlighted by a myriad of activities, there are four events that truly define a year at America SCORES New York. These days act as opportunities for our young poet-athletes to show off their soccer skills, perform their transformative poetry, and display their community-focused service projects, but they are often much more than that. All of these events allow the poet-athletes to interact with other students outside of their immediate community, as well as let their families and friends see what their time at SCORES really means to them!
Fall Frenzy
Poetry SLAM
In October, ten of our partner schools sent 300 elementary schoolers to take part in soccer games, poetry performances and a literacy project!
In late November, we held our 13th annual Poetry SLAM at A. Phillip Randolph High School! Inspirational, thoughtful, and powerful words spoken in 80 poems impressed all in attendance!
KIF Tournament
Jamboree!
Over 60 high school students from Harlem, Washington Heights, and the Bronx competed in the first America SCORES New York Kicking it Forward Alumni Tournament in May! This was a launching pad for the foundation of our new high school program, KIF!
