Student Art Day
Sharing Goes Both Ways
Watch talent take root and bloom.
chicola Estuarine Research Reserve as they mentor local students from Gulf and Franklin county schools. Each artist will work side-by-side with a student to help create a plein air piece of art. The students will sign their paintings and volunteers will frame them onsite. Artists, students, teachers, and volunteers will then gather for a noon lunch to celebrate the day’s accomplishments.

Nothing is more exciting and satisfying than watching talent take root and blossom at an early age. That’s why we consider Student Art Day to be one of the jewels in the crown of the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event. Started in 2007, Student Art Day has become one of the most popular events of the year.

In the afternoon, the student paintings will be hung at The Joe Center for the Arts in Port St. Joe for the duration of the event. Please join us for activities celebrating the wonderful tradition of student and professional collaboration. And, if you happen to miss Student Art Day, be sure to stop by to see their paintings up close.
Our artists always love sharing their skill and passion for plein air art with young people. It’s fun to watch the students and artists interact and learn from each other as the event progresses. It’s never a one-way conversation as the students find their own vision and passion in the pieces they create. Don’t miss this event if you want to get a front row seat for a youthful explosion of creativity.
