Daily Events: Exhibits, Workshops, Demonstrations Throughout the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event, there are a host of exhibits, presentations, and demonstrations you can attend. Note: All of Forgotten Coast en Plein Air events run on Eastern time, so events in Mexico Beach will be one hour earlier in local time. For example, an event starting at 2:00 pm Eastern, will actually start at 1:00 pm Mexico Beach (Central) time.

Artist Demonstration: Reid Avenue Streetscapes Watch artists Stewart White, Aimee Erickson, Leon Holmes, and Tony Robinson capture the architecture and atmosphere of Port St. Joe. 9-11 am, along Reid Avenue, Port St. Joe Artist Demonstration: A Working Waterfront Join artists Charlie Hunter, Suzie Baker, and Poppy Balser as they document the Apalachicola River and the boats that ply the water. 9-11 am, Riverfront Park, 86 Water Street, Apalachicola Workshop: Nancie King Mertz Come learn how to add structures to your pastel landscapes or cityscapes with confidence. This workshop will help turn your favorite views of buildings and structures into dramatic, expressive paintings. Examine space, perspective, and design through hands-on lessons that aim to help you build self confidence. 9 am-4 pm, 86 Water Street, Apalachicola. $95.00 per person, register online, attendance limited. Bring a sack lunch. Workshop: Morgan Samuel Price Genre painting has been in the forefront of plein air painting. The recording of everyday
life has taught us much about daily life in history. During her all day workshop, “Daily Life in Paint”, Morgan and her students will select a scene, capture the figures and design the painting. 9-4 pm, The Joe Center for the Arts, 201 Reid Street, Port St. Joe, $95.00 per person, register online, attendance limited. Bring a sack lunch. Opening Luncheon: Kick off the 2020 Forgotten Coast en Plein Air in style! Join us for lunch with the artists, volunteers, visitors, and the greater arts community. 12-1 pm, The Community Center, 1 Bay Avenue, Battery Park, Apalachicola Residency Presentation: The Infectious Creativity of Change Mark Shasha’s week long residency explores the connection of elements in the Forgotten Coast, such as climate change and the morphing coastal culture. Riffing on the theme that necessity is the mother of invention, Mark will illustrate how change sparks creativity. Through interviews of biologists, architects, seafood workers, city planners, and other integral, but seemingly unconnected, parts of the community, Mark synthesizes how creative thinking, and its infectious nature, can build stronger community infrastructure, both metaphorically and physically. 6-8 pm, Cal Allen Coastal Art and Studio, 102 SE Avenue B, Carrabelle

Quickdraw: Mexico Beach The 2020 Quickdraw will be held in Mexico Beach this year, featuring a wide range of exceptional subject matter sure to challenge and delight all artists. Artists may choose from a wide range of pristine beach scenes as well as locations of recovery as the town continues to rebuild after Hurricane Michael. All completed work will be displayed for judging and sales. Enjoy live music and beautiful scenery at the reception that evening. You will receive a free ticket to the reception with your participation in the quickdraw. Guest/spouse tickets can be purchased separately online before the reception. Entry fee: $20.00. 8 am-12:30 pm, Mexico Beach Welcome Center, Canal Park, 102 Canal Parkway, Mexico Beach. Artist Demonstrations: Gather at Mexico Beach Welcome Center to observe artists Terry Miura, Vicki Norman, and Luke Buck as they paint the recovery efforts from Hurricane Michael in hard hit Mexico Beach. 2-4 pm, 102 Canal Parkway, Mexico Beach Mexico Beach Reception: Terry Miura will be the featured artist at the Mexico Beach reception. Come meet Terry and the other artists and see their work of Mexico Beach recovery scenes.
