Healthcare Complex Hospital + Assisted living + Medical Office BUilding + Lab
Inspired from the human body, Alveoli is a medical healthcare complex that tries to improve the air quality within and around the campus.Located in the center of the busisest and polluted streets of Delhi , each component of the Alveoli perform individually in a system to filter the air. Each building has its own identitity and function related design.
Alveoli
Peace. The ideal healing atmosphere within a medical complex can be achieved by introducing natural green spaces thatinduce meditation and peace. Environments are delicate and needed special attention to provide a comfortable environment.

Green integration The masterplan for the healthcare Complex derives its concept from an integrated circuit. Each component has its own function and looks different from the others.Yet they work well in a system, each component understanding its role. Similarly each component of the Alveoli works indiviudally in its own capacity to perform well in terms of daily functioning as well as urban scale priorities like air quality improvement.
The patient bed towers are placed around the central courtyard that is primarily used as a green waiting area or transitional space from one department to the other. The concept of open air waiting areas help release stress and also reduce chances of Hospital Acquired Infections.
Alveoli
Hospital.
Alve Square. The square is a 1200 bedded hospital within the healthcare complex. The square encloses a central courtyard with a controlled environment. The central plaza can be used as an excellent means for relaxation as well as department finding.
The ramp connects all floors and thus is disable -friendly.This ramp connects the residential units with the social spaces like T.V.Room , Kitchen, Reading Room and Games Room.Colour coding of each floor helps in legibility of levels.

Path with activity rooms on the interior
Alve Circles. In a dense urban environment like delhi , there is a dearth of quality open social spaces especially for the old. Circles innovates in providing a safe, interactive, social space within the medical complex. Circles is born out of a single path that circulates and ramps around 4 cores , two residential units and two central social cores.
The tightening of the central space cools down and increases the wind drastically.
Alveoli
Medical Office Building + Lab.
Alve angles. Alve angles are the office towers. Pinned at the centre , the towers move away from each other thus forming two green courtyards on both sides. Each tower is also provided with a terrace view onto the plaza level.
Alveoli
Alve circuit. The alve circuit provides an uninterrupted pedestrian movement from the nearby metro station around the site. The circuit also elevates at points above gates thus not clashing with the hospital movement . The circuit can be used forexcercises by the local crowdhence healing on a scale greater than the complex itself.

Scoop.
Moon Settlement
Scoop is an innovative hemispherical moon settlement. Scoop has been designed to provide an alternative solution to living on the moon by providing an atmosphere relative to the gravity of the moon. Scoop derives its name from the mechanism by which RING ‘ scoops’ out the excess of the crater to form the settlement.
Scoop
Scooping Scooping out an already defined crater would be a faster way to create a moon settlement. All one needed to do is to carve it into a habitable cave that could protect one from future meteroites and harmful solar rays.
Arrival.
Scooping.
RING is an improved robot / machine that is propelled on to the moon. Aligned with spokes , RING aprroaches the crater and places itself over it. With a radius of 56 m, the RING is formed from 16m sections that can be replaced separately during maintenance.
RING scoops out the excess soil from the crater to the top where its banked to protect it from further meteors. During this time, each spoke carves a deeper penetrateion which is used as caves by humans.Theses caves protect humans from the harmful harsh solar rays.
Scoop
Time. After the settlement is constructed , the ring acts as an energy source and a sun dial for the whole system. It eventually becomes the icon for the settlement.
Scoop
Space and time. Due to the comparatively lower gravity of the moon, people would prefer jumping as the preferred mode of travel. Architecture is subjective to the gravity of the planet and in this case hemisphere would be an ideal solution. .

Sangath
Artscapes. The seed of the array originates from the already existing Iqbal Maiden pole. The array leads to the Bada talaab offering various views created by staggering planes that offer a canvas for art. Artscapes that can influence space and people over time.
Sangath
Views. Various views of the parallel walls. This way one spends more time appreciating the art and thus landscape.

AL-YASR MULTIUSE BUILDING DESIGN COMPETITION WINNER
2014
Weave. Multiuse Complex
The weave as an icon is a metaphor that works at multiple levels - it stands for a thread that runs through Egypt’s long history, it stands for an act that helps blend the new into the existing and the pattern itself stands for something that can be new, unique and iconic. Furthermore the building design in this case is a weave that integrates the programme, the climatic response and the pedestrian experience. The design catalyzes an active integration of nature in the form of vegetation and water that modulates, improves and heightens the user experience.
Weave
Wicker. Weaving, as a practiced craft, has been a common cross-cultural phenomenon for thousands of years. While patterns and techniques differ between cultures, the basic craft of weaving has maintained its cultural and economic significance. Basket weaving has been a constant in Eygpt’s long history. Remains of baskets have been found in the Fayoum dating to the Neolithic period, about 5000 BC.
Weave
Solar insolation. The building facade was annalyzed for solar gain. This information was then mapped to a 3d model and served as a tool to determine the variable density pattern of the screen. The screen is a composite of 4 modules that were designed to respond to 4 corresponding values of insolation.
Weave
Materiality. Wooden screen with variable density made out of treated bamboo woven on a metal sub frame with a variagated color stain is used as the main construction material.
Weave
Eco section. Annual solar movement is studied to derive the facade.Passive techniques of cooling have also been employed to reduce the temperature.
