MINISTRY CATA LO G
Spring 2017
WELCOME Whether you are new to College Heights or a long time member, we are so glad you are here! Every person who walks through our doors is important to us, so if you ever feel like just another number, we’re doing something wrong and we give you permission to tell us about it! We know that you, like every person who comes to College Heights, are on a unique journey of faith marked by a quest to answer the questions you face. You may be asking yourself, “Will I fit in here with this group of people?” “Is this a place where I can serve?” “Can these people help me grow in my relationship with God?” Or maybe you are wrestling with difficult and disturbing questions like, “Where is God in the midst of tragedy?” “Is there hope for me to be forgiven by God?” “What happens to me when I die?” “How can I live a life that matters?” Wherever you are on your journey, we want to walk together with you. It is in Christian community that we learn our true identity, what our purpose is, and who we are meant to become. At College Heights, you can be a part of something bigger than yourself. It is only together that we can carry out our mission: to make disciples of Jesus Christ who change the world through the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God. We invite you to join us in • praying about everything to strengthen our trust in God and deepen our love for Him; • speaking the good news of Jesus’ rescue, healing, and purpose; • growing by following Jesus and choosing God’s way every day; and • loving like Jesus loved by giving time, resources, gifts and energy to help all people encounter God’s love. As a group of God’s people we care about you and your family and we’re here not only to help you grow spiritually, but to help in any way we can! If you would like to know more about College Heights or get plugged in, please don’t hesitate to connect with us!

WE WILL PRAY Pray about everything.
We will talk to God to deepen our trust in him, agreement with him, love of him, and commitment to his purpose.
SPEAK The things we love, we talk about. If we love Jesus and love people, we will speak the good news of Jesus’ rescue, healing, and purpose at every opportunity.
GROW Choose God’s way, every day.
We will follow and live like Jesus and help others as well by choosing God’s way everyday.
LOVE Love like Jesus.
We will love like Jesus by giving our lives, resources, gifts, and energy to help all people encounter God’s love.
MAKING DISCIPLES WHO CHANGE THE WORLD 11
SMALL GROUPS The church is a community of committed disciples of Jesus who make other disciples! This means that relationships are at our core. Growth occurs in relationship with Jesus and with others. As a matter of fact, the Bible says that when we isolate ourselves, we are fools (Proverbs 18:1). Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote, “Sin demands to have a man by himself. It withdraws him from the community. It is in the community of fellow believers (who incidentally are also fellow sinners) that God does some of His most formative work! This is discipleship beyond Sunday morning. The importance of our gathering and worshiping on Sunday, shoulder to shoulder, cannot be understated. The inspired teaching and preaching of the Word of God is something Jesus modeled and charged his people to do. At the same time, learning to obey and live out the teachings of Jesus primarily happens in the day to day - in relationship.
One of the key ways you can get connected to community is through College Heights small groups. Small groups creates an environment for sharing lives with one another, praying for one another and for the world around us, growing together in Christ, caring for one another as well as reaching out to those around us who need Jesus also! If you are not yet connected into a small group, get a hold of our Small Groups Minister, Josh Beck at jbeck@chjoplin.org / 417-624-6915 x320 and he can help. If you are already in a small group, then follow Jesus well...together!

More of a connection that lasts. This year we will strive to encourage each other to CONNECT with Him and CONNECT with each other in a deeper way. CONNECT...with a purpose on purpose.

Friday, April 28 – 5pm This is a fantastic opportunity for our families to get together, as well as the volunteers who lovingly serve our children each week. Food, fun, families, and faithful volunteers make a great combination!
LAUNCHPAD 1ST - 5TH GRADERS
Our goal in LaunchPad is to give every child a solid foundation for their spiritual journey. We do this by going all the way thru the Bible every year. Each week we dive into a Bible story to learn the facts and discuss how we can apply it to our lives. We also spend time in small groups to learn how to talk about Jesus and share our lives with others. We use FUN to make church enjoyable and memorable; hopefully this will be the best hours of a child’s week. Every week we like to...PLAY HARD, SING LOUD, LOVE GOD.
PARENTS,
We want you to know that we want your children to feel like they BELONG in LaunchPad. We design our time together to not only teach them about Jesus, but also to connect them with friends their own age and adult leaders who will engage them, encourage them, and be a consistent voice in their young lives. We know kids love to have fun, so we do our best to include that, too. It’s a great way to bond with friends and learn about Jesus.
ADULTS,
We want you to know that we are always on the lookout for people who love Jesus & love children. If you share our desire to establish a strong foundation for our children’s spiritual journey, we would love to talk to you about joining the team. We have lots of different roles to meet a wide variety of passions, skills, and comfort levels. So if you are thinking about it... JUST SAY YES to joining the LaunchPad team!
