He is editor of AIGA VOICE and contributing editor to Print, Eye, Baseline and I.D. magazines. He is the author of more than 120 books on design and popular culture. Color Forecasting for Fashion Kate Scully and Debra Johnston Cobb
Color is a powerful selling tool. It is the first thing to catch the consumer’s eye in the shop window. Get the color choice wrong and an entire line can stay on the racks. So, how do colors arrive on the runway or the sales floor and why do different companies all seem to choose similar colors each season? The answer lies in the behind-the-scenes work of the huge colorforecasting industry. Color Forecasting for Fashion breaks down the forecasting process—from how to put together a color palette to color theory, and the way that colors behave—and helps readers to build the combination of research and intuitive skills that a successful designer or forecaster needs. Kate Scully is a color forecasting consultant and Senior Lecturer in Fashion Promotion at the University of the Creative Arts at Rochester. She has worked as the color and fabric editor of several forecast publications. Debra Cobb has researched trends and developed products for fiber, fabric, and apparel manufacturers in the US, including Guilford Mills, Ge-Ray Fabrics, Unifi Inc., and Hanesbrands. She is a regular contributor to textile trade journals on both sides of the Atlantic. • Unique, fully-illustrated guide to color forecasting • Explains a process that students often find difficult to grasp in clear and easy-to-understand terms • Essential subject for students in all fashion disciplines, including design, buying, journalism and marketing

Fashion & Sustainability Design for Change Kate Fletcher and Lynda Grose Foreword by Paul Hawken
This book examines how sustainability has the potential to transform both the fashion system and the innovators who work within it. The book is organized in three parts. The first part is concerned with transforming fashion products across the garment’s lifecycle and includes innovation in materials, manufacture, distribution, use, and re-use. The second part looks at ideas that are transforming the fashion system at root into something more sustainable, including new business models that reduce material output. The third section is concerned with transforming the role of fashion designers and looks to examples where the designer changes from a stylist or shaper of things into a communicator, activist or facilitator. Kate Fletcher is Reader in Sustainable Fashion at London College of Fashion. She is also director of design for sustainable fashion consultancy, Slow Fashion. Her work in business, education, policy, and research has been at the forefront of sustainability ideas and research practice for the past 15 years Lynda Grose is a professor at California College of the Arts. As a practising designer, consultant, and educator, she cofounded ESPRIT’s ecollection line, which was the first ecologically responsible clothing line developed by a major corporation. Lynda also advises clients including Patagonia, Gap, and the Sustainable Cotton Project. • Will appeal to fashion students and professionals • Sustainability is a key issue in fashion and textiles • Authors are leaders in the field and lecture internationally • Foreword by Paul Hawken, the world’s foremost commentator on commerce and ecology

This Means This, This Means That A User’s Guide to Semiotics
Second Edition
Sean Hall
Semiotics is the theory of signs, and reading signs is a part of everyday life: from road signs that point to a destination, to smoke that warns of fire, to the symbols buried within art and literature. Semiotic theory can, however, seem mysterious and impenetrable. This introductory book decodes that mystery using visual examples instead of abstract theory. Read straight through or dipped into regularly, this book provides practical examples of how meaning is made in contemporary culture. Sean Hall is Deputy Head of Department and Leader in Contextual Studies in the Department of Design at Goldsmiths College, University of London. He was formerly a lecturer in Philosophy at Balliol College, Oxford. As a practicing artist, he has exhibited at the V&A, the Royal Academy, and the Whitechapel Gallery. • New and revised edition featuring a greatly expanded introduction and improved images and sections • Novel and fun way of presenting difficult concepts through key images • Visual approach that appeals to art and design students • Each chapter provides a concise introduction to key themes and ideas, decoding meaning in bite-sized chunks

Skateboard Stickers
Mini Edition
Steve Cardwell and Mark Munson
This is the first book to celebrate the use of stickers in skateboarding. Showing the full spectrum of skate sticker art, it brings together over 350 of the most memorable stickers ever produced. Stickers became extremely important in the late 1980s and early 1990s when many smaller, skater-owned companies emerged—they are an easy way to get brands noticed and virtually every board graphic is also available in sticker form. Nearly every skater has a sticker collection of some sort, either on a bedroom door, on the fridge or in a shoe box. From Wes Humpston and Dogtown’s stickers in the 1970s to Birdo at Consolidated’s “Don’t Do It” campaign, Skateboard Stickers features the very best designs, selected by pro skateboarders past and present. It includes sticker-related stories and articles from skaters and artists, such as the story of Death skateboards or Jim Phillips’ legendary Screaming Hand sticker logo for Speed Wheels Santa Cruz, and features quotes from skateboarders describing what stickers mean to them. Contributors include Wes Humpston, Bucky Lasek, Sean Goff, Steve Alba, Andy Howell, Mark McKee, Jim Phillips, and Mike Vallely. Steve Cardwell runs his own design company Fifteenten Design producing work for print and screen. Focusing on the skateboard snowboard and music industries his work includes corporate identity board graphics posters record sleeves advertising and websites. Mark Munson is an accomplished skater snowboarder and cinematographer. He has been skateboarding for over 14 years and currently works for Airwalk Genetic Shoes as skateboarding team manager and PR for the UK. • First book to focus exclusively on skateboard stickers, now available in a new mini gift format • Features stickers by Wes Humpston, Bucky Lasek, Sean Goff, Steve Alba, Andy Howell, Mark McKee, Jim Phillips, and Mike Vallely • Includes sticker-related stories, articles, and quotes from well-known skateboarders
