Missing Melanated Women

There is an alarming number of missing Melanated Women across the United States. The most up-to-date statistic that showed the number of black women missing is from 2022. According to the National Crime Information Center, in 2022, of the hi271,493 girls and women reported missing, 97,924, or over 36 percent, were Black, despite the fact that Black women and girls comprised only 14 percent of the U.S. female population at that time.

The open cases of women and girls of color seemingly falls by the wayside if not for the families of the missing or organizations and advocates of our missing continue to bring our women and girls to the fore front. We have to give our missing a voice in our communities and beyond. The number of melanated women that are victims of trafficking and homicide goes unnoticed and not given national and media attention as they should. Here at AMPS Magazine we stand as a voice in helping to protect our women and girls and we’re using this platform as a way to continue to keep the attention on our missing. Please take a moment to look at the faces of the women on our missing page. Help us to bring them back to their loved ones.
