Massage Envy was founded 10 years ago with the goal of making professional massage therapy accessible, convenient and affordable. Today, the company is the gold standard for massage therapy. Just ask Lise Barbanti. She discovered the benefits of therapeutic massage while recovering from a car accident. Today, the former marketing executive owns the Massage Envy Spa at the Archway Shopping Center in Scarsdale. “Some clients visit the spa to relieve stress. Others have specific pain areas to work on. And others appreciate massage’s preventive benefits,” says Barbanti. Clients can make individual appointments, or purchase a flexible membership program, for a series of massages at a reduced rate. Members who travel can visit any of more than 800 Massage Envy spas all over the country at the same reduced rate. “We have 15 estheticians and massage therapists, offering facials and a range of massages, including hot stone, deep-tissue and aromatherapy,” says Barbanti. “We customize our massages to meet each client’s needs.” Hours: Open seven days a week. ongtime celebrity makeup artist Devra Bader, of Devra Bader Skin Care and Beauty Spa, knows how to make all her clients’ lives extra-luxurious. A specialist in bridal makeup application for more than two decades, Devra Bader offers a full range of facials, manicures, pedicures and body treatments. An exciting new treatment is the HydraFacial, featured on Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS. A breakthrough procedure, it works in three ways to hydrate, detoxify and rejuvenate the skin — without irritation — for a clearer, smoother, more beautiful complexion. HydraFacial’s advanced technology exfoliates and resurfaces like microdermabrasion; it provides the renewal of a chemical peel, and it offers the extractions and significant hydration of a deep-cleaning facial. Results are immediate and lasting, and there is no downtime. Renowned for enhancing beauty and wellness, Devra Bader has been featured in InStyle magazine, New York magazine and Shape magazine. She has appeared as an expert on “The Today Show” and Lifetime television. Her spa carries only the finest, most effective products. Clients are devoted to G.M. Collin and Skinceuticals moisturizers to counteract stressed skin from summer tans and guard against dryness caused by blustery winter winds. For everyday looks, special occasions or holidays, teens and moms look and feel their best with customized skin care and makeup consultations. Brow shaping is a specialty. Try it to bring more expression to your face — you’ll notice the results. Stimulate your senses with a chocolate cake or green tea body scrub. Treat your toes to custom pedicures — in pumpkin, chocolate, vanilla, white tea, or, for that special day, birthday cake. The spa’s healthy airbrush tan gives a beachy, sun-kissed look, minus tanning bed damage. It’s the perfect indulgence during winter’s sun-starved days. Hours: Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday. Private appointments available.

Purchasing insurance can be confusing. How much is enough, and is it affordable? If there’s a claim, can a knowledgeable, caring agent be reached easily? There’s no anxiety with Plum Insurance Agency, whose roots date back to 1949. Personal service remains a hallmark of this three-generation, family-owned, independent agency in Scarsdale. Plum’s agents work with many insurance companies, and as a result, rates are often lower than those found at much larger competitors, which can’t offer anything close to Plum’s comprehensive care. From personal insurance — life, health, long-term care, vehicle, homeowner’s and renter’s — to all forms of business insurance, including cybersecurity, Plum meets every need, and reviews each client’s coverage on a yearly basis. Stop in and speak with an agent, or schedule an appointment. We’ll be happy to have a conversation about your insurance portfolio before making recommendations — all free of charge. olfers, get on your game! Winter is the perfect season to improve fitness, focus and technique, so you’ll start the next season at the top of your swing. At Westchester Golf Performance Center, you will benefit from a customized, one-on-one training plan that addresses the technical, physical and psychological aspects of your game. Westchester Golf Performance Center’s multidisciplinary approach targets five performance areas — swing, mental approach, physical fitness, nutritional optimization and equipment customized to your swing. Sophisticated physical evaluations, developed by the Titleist Performance Institute, identify weaknesses that might be hindering a client’s golf swing. Potential concerns are investigated by detailed swing evaluations conducted by certified, professional golf instructors. Stateof-the-art technology takes diagnosis one step further — the K-Vest 3D motion analysis machine and the TrackMan launch monitor measure and study all aspects of a golfer’s swing sequence and ball control, down to the most minute details. Information from these diagnostic tools directly benefits each individual client. Whether you are a beginner just learning the sport or a seasoned pro trying to improve your game, our team will design a program of exercises and training drills, targeted specifically to your needs. Muscle memory improvement, or biofeedback, is based on repetition, and most clients experience noticeable to marked improvement after six to 12 sessions. Staff professionals include Dr. Phil Striano, a Titleist Performance Institute level-2 certified golf fitness instructor, a K-Vest level-2 certified golf fitness instructor, and a certified sports medicine and injury specialist; Dr. Robert Flower, a Titleist Performance Institute level-1 certified golf fitness instructor; golf professional Keith Melnik, a K-Vest level-2 certified golf instructor; and golf professional Joe Gothman, a Titleist Performance Institute level-1 certified golf instructor. While disordered eating may begin as a means to control some aspects of your life, those very thoughts and behaviors may end up controlling you. At Metro Behavioral Health Associates Eating Disorders Centers (MBHA), we understand that recovery is a complex process. Our specialists have devoted their professional training to the treatment of anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder and everything in between. Since no two cases have exactly the same causes or symptoms, the ideal recovery plan for each patient is unique. “Eating disorders don’t emerge overnight, says MBHA Founder and Executive Director Jennie Kramer, M.S.W., L.C.S.W. “We take a ‘no stones unturned’ approach, so we can get to the root causes and effect gradual change. After all, you can’t take away behaviors if you don’t replace them with other strategies. MBHA begins with a comprehensive psychosocial evaluation, followed by the development of an individually designed treatment plan. The center’s services include individual, family and group psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, nutritional counseling, hypnotherapy and creative arts therapy, to name a few. If you know someone who may be struggling with an eating disorder, call us for a free telephone consultation today.

Not responding well to antidepressant medications? Having difďŹ culty taking what’s prescribed for you due to uncomfortable side effects? Dr. Yadagiri Chepuru offers an alternative at TMS Center of Westchester in Yonkers. Transcranial magnetic stimulation therapy (TMS) is a new antidepressant treatment, which has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for patients suffering from depression and who have not achieved satisfactory improvement from prior treatment. Dr. Chepuru provides TMS on an outpatient basis in the comfort of his private ofďŹ ce. Magnetic pulses stimulate the brain to release serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine — chemicals that occur naturally in the brain and that help to reverse the effects of depression. TMS is a noninvasive, nonsystemic, safe treatment with little or no side effects. Dr. Chepuru is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a subspecialty in geriatric psychiatry. He is chief of psychiatry at Riverside Health Care Systems in Yonkers. Dr. Chepuru has extensive experience in treating mood disorders and other psychiatric conditions and is a trained Suboxone provider for the treatment of opiate addictions.

hen Drs. Elise Lovisa and Joseph Zuckerman ventured out on their own to open Ardsley Veterinary Associates on Aug. 8, they weren’t alone. Many of their loyal clients followed them from their previous practices to their new, conveniently located office, where Riviera Bakery was once housed. There the duo has created a topquality medical and surgical care facility in a warm, compassionate and friendly atmosphere for both owners and their pets. Drs. Lovisa and Zuckerman work with a board-certified surgeon and have teamed with Dr. Lisa Donato, who is schooled both in Western and Eastern medicines to offer a more holistic approach to pet care, including acupuncture and Chinese herbal methods. Many clients are already familiar with the staff, with whom the doctors worked previously. There are two experienced LVTs (New York State-licensed veterinary technicians), who assist in anesthetic monitoring, surgical prep, client education and patient care. Their friendly and competent receptionists are here to meet and greet — they are the first line in client relations — and the support staff keeps the clinic immaculately clean and assists in patient handling. Ardsley Veterinary Associates features full services from dental radiology to digital radiography, a fully equipped surgical room to in-house lab work. Dr. Lovisa has been practicing in Ardsley — where she lives — since 1986. She graduated from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell and interned at the Animal Medical Center in New York. She has been in private practice since 1984. Dr. Zuckerman was born in the Bronx and earned his degree at Ross University. His education was augmented by a year of rotations at the University of Minnesota and worked for 4 1/2 years at a multi-specialist emergency clinic in Yonkers before coming to Ardsley in 2003. The entire staff engages in continuing education in order to ensure the finest medical care for their loyal clientele’s loved ones. Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday to 3 p.m.

It’s the call every mother dreads: “Your child has head lice.” No worries. Anna Albano-Krosche, the Lice Lady of Westchester, can come to the rescue 365 days a year, “because lice is always an emergency.” Anna is Westchester’s original head lice removal expert. “I’ve been in business since 1998, and I’ve treated over 10,000 heads,” says Anna. She is the area’s only lice removal specialist with a freestanding salon. She also makes house calls. Anna frequently travels to schools and camps to do lice checks and to give presentations on head lice prevention. “I’ve been through this with my own children and myself, and I relate 100 percent to everybody who comes in,” she says. A client’s head is examined under a magnification light, then is given a 20minute, all-natural enzyme-based shampoo. Nits are combed from the hair, then the hair is rinsed, blown dry and rechecked. Clients leave the salon with a homework sheet, including instructions on how to “delouse your house.”

Distinctive, artisanal, luxurious — Giordano Beauty is a destination for splendor. Glamorous cosmetics, fragrances, brushes, soaps, skin care and bath products comprise the boutique’s custom line. Based on original formulas by renowned makeup artist Susan Giordano, Giordano Beauty was recognized by Women’s Wear Daily as one of six “emerging indie cosmetic companies to watch.” Susan’s 25 years of perfecting faces for catwalks and magazines show in her products, which transform runway glamour into wearable looks for everyday. A favorite is Satin Skin moisturizer. Its unique formula began as a kitchen concoction Susan brought to photo shoots for “amazingly touchable” skin. When models asked for more, Susan knew she was on to something. Makeup is magic. It not only transforms your looks; it also changes the way you feel about yourself. More than foundations and mascara, Giordano Beauty is an intimate emporium of personalized service and generous advice not available elsewhere. Ask Susan about expert eyebrow shaping, makeup bag evaluations, product tutorials and makeup applications — or just about that perfect, pouty shade of red. Ruffled Feathers Gourmet Rotisserie, the popular takeout spot, is now entering its 21st year, and its delicious prepared foods have become standard fare in most homes in and around Scarsdale. Owners Ken and George specialize in preparing healthy and low-fat foods using the best and freshest ingredients available. Besides the great rotisserie chickens, other items are available from the rotisserie, such as Long Island duck, Cornish game hens, fresh turkeys, and garlic and herb-crusted filet mignon. They also have oversized grilled chicken breast and skinless fried chicken, which is low in both cholesterol and fat but high in flavor. For those who choose not to have chicken, they offer many other dishes: grilled salmon, sole française, turkey chili, turkey burgers, baby back ribs and assorted pasta dishes are among the highlights. Other notable delicacies available at Ruffled Feathers include homemade coleslaw, kasha varnishkas (that would make grandma proud), rice pudding, mélange of roasted vegetables, purée of butternut squash, creamed spinach (it’s really creamless); cranberry, walnut and apple compote; solid white tuna with dried cranberries and apples; homemade soups and of course, their famous chopped chicken liver. Salvatore Cucullo Jr. has spent his life in the restaurant world. His hands-on experience, top-level training at The Culinary Institute of America and family background — rooted in Italian cooking — are the perfect ingredients to create this innovative and sensational chef. The 808 Bistro’s menu is built with an Italian foundation, finished with chef Salvatore’s creative mix of culinary expertise and sensitive hand. The pasta section features homemade offerings that pay a loving homage to Cucullo’s background, like Nana’s gnocchi. They also stay current with how we eat today, offering whole-wheat and gluten-free pastas. Using only the freshest, mostly organic ingredients, the menu changes with the seasons, to take full advantage of the best produce Mother Earth has to offer that month. “I’m very passionate about food and believe as a chef that I’m never more important than my ingredients,” says Salvatore. Traditional Italian chicken, veal and fish are always offered, and the restaurant accommodates special requests. The bar uses fresh, muddled ingredients to make drinks, and suggested food and wine pairings are always on the menu. New at The 808 Bistro is our “express” lunch. Order for pickup, or come in for a quick, delicious lunch — in just an hour! Hours: Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday brunch.

There’s no need to travel to Naples to experience truly Neapolitan pizzas, pastas, salads, desserts and wines. Like its namesake — burrata, a creamy, rich artisanal mozzarella — Burrata Wood Fired Pizza is known for signature flavors and textures. Burrata’s pizzas — all individual — cook in a wood-fired brick oven made in Naples by a third-generation oven builder. The intense heat — 850 degrees Fahrenheit — means they’re done in just 60 to 90 seconds, allowing for proper charring without burning. Naturally leavened dough, fork-mixed using super-soft 00 flour and Sicilian sea salt, produces light-as-air crusts covered with tomatoes from Puglia, Wisconsin Fior di Latte mozzarella and beautiful Greek olive oil. Produce is sourced locally. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Burrata’s Chas Anderson is passionate about what he serves, whether it’s pizza, pasta, small-plate appetizers or side dishes. Menus change seasonally, accompanied by an extensive wine-by-the-glass list. Hours: Open seven days a week. Lunch: Sunday through Saturday, from noon to 3 p.m. Dinner: Monday through Thursday, from 5 to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday to 10:30 p.m., Sunday to 9 p.m.

Owner Philip Santise has continued the family tradition. Coming from the Arthur Avenue section of the Bronx, he and his brothers became involved in the family food business at an early age. ew York School of Esthetics offers the New York State 600-hour esthetics (skin care) course, which leads to eligibility to sit for the state-board testing procedures. It is our mission to provide an exciting, well-planned curriculum for students, one that will put you ahead in this fast-growing industry. The function of the school is to provide a professional environment where the student learns the theory and principles (hands-on) in esthetics. We will prepare all students for their New York State esthetic written and practical board exams. Since opening, New York School of Esthetics has not raised its tuition and includes more certifications in the undergraduate program than any other school of its kind. These certifications include microdermabrasion, basic chemical peel, body treatments and teeth whitening. Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions that include working with plastic surgeons, in dermatologists’ offices, day spas and laser centers. The school’s advanced courses include Laser Hair Removal Certification and Advanced Makeup Artistry, both approved by the New York State Department of Education. As one student said, “I learned so much compared to other schools of esthetics and made a family rather than just friends! I graduated knowing that I am a professional with great knowledge in skin care!” New York School of Esthetics is fully accredited by National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts & Sciences (NACCAS) and offers financial aid to those who qualify. We participate in the Pell Grant program, Direct Student Loans and Parent Plus Loans.

Linda Angel, owner of Art Transcending Time, designs jewelry that is more than just an accessory to wear; it is a true work of art. She incorporates antique Italian micro mosaics with semi-precious stones strung on silk to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Her jewelry is crafted in a wide variety of colors, most typically in blues, greens and warm earthy tones. “I get inspired by each antique mosaic that I work with,” Linda says. Her custom-made necklaces are created by combining a sparkling antique chandelier crystal with a personal photo, often of ancestors. “I love making these memory pieces for my customers,” says Linda, adding that she enjoys hearing the personal stories and history some of her customers share while ordering their jewelry. “Each necklace represents a connection between the past and present.” Stop into Linda’s studio and boutique to see her at work and learn more about her “unique handmade jewelry transcending time.” Hours: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
