A political action committee (PAC) is a transparent, legal, and federally monitored way for trade associations such as AMRPA to participate in the political process. The AMRPA Political Action Committee was created to ensure that Members of Congress prioritize the field of medical rehabilitation and support the highest quality of care for our patients. We are funded by collecting voluntary contributions from employees of AMRPA member organizations, which allows us to leverage every donation into one strong fund for one strong voice.
Why is Prior Authorization so Important? FEC regulations require that the AMRPA Political Action Committee obtain approval before contacting executives and officers of member organizations or hospitals with information on how to donate. The form takes just a few moments to complete, and makes a huge impact.
How are Donations Used? Contributions to the AMRPA PAC will be used for political purposes, and must be drawn on personal, not corporate, accounts. Political contributions are not taxdeductible for federal income taxes. Individuals within AMRPA’s membership may voluntarily contribute up to $5,000 per year to the AMRPA PAC. Contributions are voluntary – you may choose whether and how much to give to the AMRPA PAC. 100% of your donation will be spent on political campaign contributions to help us elect candidates who understand our point of view and will legislate on behalf of our field.
Granting prior authorization is a simple and effective step you can take to strengthen AMRPA’s voice in Washington, D.C.
I am an appropriate designee able to request that AMRPA enroll my organization as a member of the AMRPA PAC for the years indicated below. As a member of AMRPA, our organization authorizes the AMRPA PAC to undertake the solicitation of voluntary contributions from the organization’s executive, administrative, and management personnel in the United States. This authorization does not obligate the organization to contribute to the AMRPA PAC. It does allow AMRPA to keep us informed of political and legislative issues and activities. Authorization can be given to only one trade association federal PAC per year. My company may withdraw its authorization at any time. Federal law prohibits political contributions from foreign nationals. Contributions to the AMRPA PAC are not tax deductible. As an AMRPA member, I hereby authorize the AMRPA PAC to undertake the solicitation of voluntary contributions from company executives, management, and administrative personnel for the calendar years designated.
