Viva Academic AMSA-Indonesia!

Salam Sejahtera Dear People of Tomorrow, AMSA-Indonesia National Competition Archive (AMINO) is a form of scientific publication of AMSA-Indonesia member’s works that is sent to the competitions held by AMSA-Indonesia (i.e. PCC EAMSC, PCC AMSC, and IMSTC) as a form of appreciation and an example for the generations to come. Through this publication, it is expected that new members will be able to learn more from the particular competition's winner. Ultimately, knowledge of all AMSA-Indonesia members may improve dramatically and also their ability in making scientific paper, scientific poster, and public poster. Facilitating and realizing the three fundamental foundation of Asian Medical Students Association: ‘Knowledge’. Observing the view’s growth on AMINO, I realized that the views were generated mostly within the duration of PCC AMSC 2016 submission, which I think, a proof that AMINO has lived up to the reason of why it was created. I hope that the previous AMINO has helped the readers significantly and even more so for this next publication. This next edition contains Pre-Conference Competition for East Asian Medical Students Conference 2016 (PCC EAMSC 2016) submissions which is AMSAIndonesia’s annual national competition to select the best work from AMSA-Indonesia members to represent AMSA-Indonesia in AMSA-International's annual competition of AMSC 2016. It is also necessary to mention that this AMINO will only contain three branch of: Public Poster, Public Video, and Photography, without Scientific Poster and Scientific Paper because the two branch are not included in PCC AMSC and was handled by Secretary of Research in a separate competition. I hope this brief foreword may give an introduction towards why AMINO existed and what is AMINO. As a closing remark, I would like to thank all Academic Team (A-Team) of AMSA-Indonesia 2015/2016 whom have helped me in making the third and last AMINO for 2015/2016 tenure. I would also like to thank all members of AMSA-Indonesia who have actively participated in PCC AMSC 2016, Emiliana Kartika as AMSA-Indonesia Regional Chairperson 2015/2016, and all AMSA-Indonesia’s Executive board 2015/2016 without whom this project will not be well accomplished. With the last AMINO published I would like to thank all readers and hope you will enthusiastically await for the AMINO of next tenure as much as you have awaited for each new edition. Have a happy reading and do not forget to listen to the audio presentations whenever necessary 

Thank you,

: 8x10 inch : Jl. Talasalapang, Makassar – Indonesia : As attached

Description & Background: More than 30% of Indonesian children smoke before age of 10. Indonesia holds one of the highest rates of smokers and often begins at young age. This phenomena are caused by cheap cigarette, massive promotions, and lacking of law enforcement. Smoking is considered to be "an ingrained part of Indonesian culture". One of the victims of this complexity is Ilham, 14 years old boy who has been smoking 2 packs a day since the age of 10. Children like Ilham have been destroying his lung since very young age. If this problem continues, tobacco will kill future our generation. We captured common culture we often see : wealthy parents encourage their children to eat in fastfood restaurant to make them eat ravenously, as the restaurant’s marketing strategy are very appealing to kids. This phenomenon is effect from lacking one more important aspect of SDOH : awareness of early childhood development. This is dangerous to the children, early exposure to fastfood leads to various disease and continuous recurrent phenomenon in future. Care our future, save our future!

ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE IS NOT A GAME Damarini Dida Pratiwi, Betavia Puspita Pratiwi, Widhiastri Dyah Pratiwi Padjadjaran University, Indonesia Size and orientation of the poster: A3 portrait In many countries, millions of people suffer because they cannot access the health care they need, especially in small villages or remote towns. Where infrastructure just don’t comply well, transportation don’t reach, and the resource insufficient. This is a common phenomenon in many countries. Illness and sick people are everywhere, no exceptions on faraway places. So access to healthcare is crucial. We should also think about the infrastructure needed to reach hospitals and not just about building up hospitals. Sure a thousand new hospitals are great, but what’s the point of inaccessible healthcare?

Protect Your Community by Getting Vaccinated Asiyah Nurul Fadila, Eldesta Nisa Nabila, Raksheeth Agarwal, Sarah Humaira Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, Indonesia Background: Herd immunity provides protection from a disease to both immunized and non-immunized individuals. This occurs when a significant percentage of the society is immunized, so the transmission of the disease is slowed down. In an example, WHO reports that when less than 70% of the population of Gambia was immunized to Influenza type B (Hib), the disease was eradicated. The same publication describes the negative perception of vaccination in the modern society, which is a barrier to this phenomenon. Because of this, awareness about the advantages of effective vaccination is important, which is also the purpose of our poster. 1

WHY LOOK GOOD WHEN EARTH LOOKS BAD? Betavia Padjadjaran University, Indonesia Size and orientation of the poster: A3 portrait

They say the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. Nowadays the lifestyle trends and the globalization phenomenon seem to affect the environment in a bad way. People continue following the trends and behave without rethinking the impact on the environment. People being nonchalant about the damage they cause while putting hairspray on, lit garbage on fire, and fuming vehicles. Not caring how them damaging the environment also compensates for their health status. Unwise use of hairspray, AC, and fuel contributes to bad air. Bad air condition means bad respiratory health.

Think Twice Before Act Falensia Dwita Lestari, Nurizki Meutiarani Faculty of medicine, Hasanuddin University – Makassar, Indonesia Abstract Some trends are now becoming problematic, since it can negatively influence young generation particulary in health sector. There are many teens decided smoke simply because it’s a requirement to be accepted in their social environment eventhough they exaclty knew it has some direct impacts to their body.In some worse cases, smoking is now becoming a way for someone to look cool and strong in front of others. This mindset is very urgent to be shifted, and teenagers nowadays need to think that standing on the right side will be always right despite of what other people think. You are going to be good by attitude, not by people's opinion.

When it Comes to Health, Knowledge matter! Ferdy Bahasuan, Billy Jonathan, Steven Jonathan Kristen Krida Wacana University Contact Name: Ferdy Bahasuan, Email: ferdy.fkukrida.14@gmail.com, Phone: +6285924186879

Abstract: 5.9 million children under the age of 5 died in 2015. More than half of these early deaths are due to the conditions that could be prevented or treated with simple & affordable interventions. The main causes of newborn deaths are prematurity & low birth weight, infections, asphyxia & birth trauma. These are the main causes (80%) of deaths for children under 5 years old. Actually, up to two-thirds of newborn deaths could be prevented if skilled health workers perform an effective health measure at birth & during the first week of life, but home births are very common in developing country such as Indonesia which usually be delivered regardless of the hygiene. Giving birth without paying attention to the hygine can cause many diseases like tetanus, poliomeningitis, etc. There are still many people who don't know that hygiene is one of the most important things when giving birth. So, it is important to give early education to people that are going to be a parent what do’s & don’ts for giving birth. It is necessary to educate the people who help in parturition too, especially in rural areas because it is sometimes hard to find a skilled health care in rural areas and people who live there often do not have the proper knowledge about how to do parturition. They just do the parturition which based on what their ancestors did or some unofficial information which is not evidence based.

Social Determinants of Health Anastasia Patty, Fenska Seipalla, Khen Mikhael Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia

Abstract According to an International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, 2015: 6477, 6483-6485, children nowadays play outside less than their parents did and more often play indoors. It's really unfortunate, because there are more health benefits of playing outdoors than indoors. Children are more active when they are outside compared to when they are indoors. This active physical activity will lower the blood pressure, body mass index and waist circumference, make more favorable lipid profile, improve cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal fitness, fosters the development of bone mineral density among children and youth, and reduced the incidence of type-2 diabetes by 58%, even outperforming the commonlyused drug metformin. Conversely, a systematic review of 232 studies concluded that children and youth who watched TV for more than 2 hours/day had less favorable body composition, reduced fitness, lower scores for pro-social behavior, and decreased academic achievement. In addition, when children spend more time in front of screens, they are more likely to be exposed to cyber-predators and cyber-bullying, and eat unhealthy snacks. Even the air quality indoors is often worse than outdoors. This is increasing the exposure to common allergens (e.g., dust mites, cockroaches, domestic pet dander, molds, fungal spores, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde) and infectious diseases. In the long-term, sedentary behavior and inactivity elevate odds of developing chronic diseases, including heart disease, type-2 diabetes, some forms of cancer and mental health problems, such as depression. So, that’s why it’s so important to “Go Outside, Improve Your Child’s Health”.

Child Verbal Abuse Awareness Keisha Deandra Christie, Mathilda Abigail Kristen Krida Wacana University, Indonesia Size and orientation of poster: The poster is formatted to be printed on full bleed portrait A3.

Conscious or not, venting anger on child with words that we never meant to say when you’re emotionally unstable can actually affect their mental wellbeing, especially when it recurrences. For adults, it might go away as the emotion fade. But to children, it stays in their subconscious mind. Several studies have shown that parental verbal aggression is a form of abuse that has larger effect than that of familial physical abuse. Every parents should be aware that their words are the rudder towards their child’s future. For your child's future, lies in your choice of words.

Like Parents Do, Like Child Will Be Muhammad Rafif Alfian Dita, Yohanes K. A. Pinandito, Achmad Januar Er Putra Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University, Indonesia Family is one of the social determinants of health. As we know, family, especially the core family is the first socialization media for the child. They learn values, mores, and even the healthy education from their parent. Because we know that the family, especially supportive family is substantial for making a healthy generation, we are trying to educate the parents through this public poster entitled, Like Parents Do, Like Child Will Be. At this poster, we would like to educate the parents by giving two illustrations, in black and white background. If the parents in a family provides the children with good environment to grow, family support, adequate nutrition, and basic education, it will shape the children for having a healthy mind and physical/body. For healthy mind, they will always work positively. Also, through those good support from the parent, we can imagine that the children soon will be a healthy person at the future shown from the red heart with a normal electrocardiogram line. While, at the other side, if the parent is not providing their child with a good environment, family, nutrition, and education, it will results for the national problems at the future. They will have no psychiatric health, which is described through the bad words at the head. More, the bad family support will also affect the physical health of that child, explained through the grey heart with no electrocardiogram line.

STIGMA IS THE ONLY DISEASE Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia Meilia Dwi Cahyani, Alvin Saputra, Dyah Ratri WIdyati, Henry Timothy and Rendra Dwi Putra A1 potrait HIV/AIDS is one of the biggest issue in the global public health. With more than 36.9 million people living with the HIV/AIDS (PLHA), it’s important to make sure that the PLHA are living a productive and fulfilling life. Considering the social determinants of health, it’s essential for them to have social connectedness with their environment. However, this might be hard to do since PHLAs are highly stigmatized by the society. Along with this poster, we’re proposing interventions to be done with objective to repress the stigma. Our slogan is #STANDUPTOSTIGMA Caring a Patient with HIV Won’t Give You The Virus.

Endorse Life Niki Kusuma Bangsa, Fernanda Irfatul L., Fenska Seipalla Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia Abstracts Cardiovascular Disease is the number 1 cause of death in the world. One of the major causes comes from physical inactivity. The fact is about 7.4 million people dead due to coronary heart disease and 6.7 million were due to stroke (WHO, 2015). The number might reduce by cycling. Cycling outdoors is also a good way to release stress and reduce anxiety and depressions. Cycling performance for 3-7 days per week can improve the stamina and muscle works by increase cardiac output and oxidative potential. Furthermore, the change in metabolism to improve glucose haemostatic and insulin sensitivity through cycling can prevent people from being overweight. This can protect you from diseases like stroke, heart attack, arthritis, and diabetes. In addition, cycling can also be done by all ages from children to older adults. Abstract: Healthiness is one of basic human right that need to be sustained, not only by doctor and other healthworkers but also by other proffesional jobs. In order to achieve this, we need all proffesional jobs to work together side by side in each specific sector to reach this very important goal. For instance, farmer needs to provide fresh and healthy food while cleaning services need to keep our environment cleaned in order to create a proper system to live. This also need to be applied to other proffesional jobs, otherwise we wouldnt reach the goal we were dreaming for

Increasing Society Participation on National Health Insurance Program Resty Puspita Sari, Hermanuaji Sihageng, Tania Prima Auladina Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia (Size: 29,7 x 42 cm [A3] ; Orientation: Portrait) National Health Insurance or “JKN” is goverment’s program to provide wider coverage of public health insurance. In reality, public participation is still low, only 61.2% of Indonesian people, while the target is 100%. Moreover, JKN principle is mutual cooperation. If people participation is still uneven, the principle of mutual cooperation will not work well. According to the fact above, we made this public poster to gain public awareness towards the importance of being JKN participant. By joining this program, they will be less worry of losing too much money once they are sick, like our slogan: “Stop worrying, Start protecting!”

One for All, All for One Hanifan Nugraha, Yosep A. Tarong Maranatha Christian University, Indonesia

We know, Nowadays there are lot of obstacles for Medical Worker to upgrade the health quality on their own country. Especially the government, the government must be having a way out to this problem. We know that the problems are not always coming from health system and health workers. The social determinant, the understanding, the culture, and the perception from the society are the most important thing to determine success or failure about the program that government held. Societies often do not understand the regulation, the programs that government held. Whereas, the program was built to improve the health qualities. The big reason why this is happening is caused by one reason, that is about “Understanding”. Why this understanding can’t be gained ? lot of factors affect it. Cultural, the local belief, low, low education, low social services, ethnicity, are affecting society understanding to follow the government rules. So, what’s the resolution ? yes, we need to intensify our touch as a medical worker to do socialization to the societies. We can’t just do same socialization again and again until it become monotonous. We need something fresh, and it can come from the public video. And the video itself can’t be boring so they won’t see it. The video need to be attractive and informative.
