GO & NGO GUIDELINE

Liaison Officer for Governmental Organization and Non-Governmental Organization Foreword Dear people of tomorrow, GO/NGO (Governmental/Non-Governmental Organization) collaboration becoming a very important element in running an organization, since it can positively impact the image of organization itself to be a well known organization as well as give the chance for members to learn more how to build a good collaboration with external parties. This type of act hopefully can strengthen the three fundamental foundation of Asian Medical Students' Association: knowledge, action, and friendship. Based on what AMSA university had done so far in developing AMSA through several collaborations, GO/NGO basically becoming a g o o d s t a r t f o r u s t o ex p a n d o u r organization even more. Moreover, GO/NGO collaboration can also reinforce the advocacy both in ascendence way from society to government, and also in descendence way from government to society. Ascendence communication includes submission of information from society to government regarding what society do, think, and feel. On the other hand, descendence communication includes the way of government to tell the society regarding all things that have been planned and done. By becoming the representative of society in trying to p e r s u a d e g ove r n m e n t a l p o l i c i e s a n d programs, NGO can also provides horizontal informations and work along with other organization at the same field.

This GO and NGO guideline hopefully can positively trigger all AMSA members to start doing collaborations with GOs and NGOs in order to achieve the goal, both in local, national, and international activities. Finally, i would like to thank all members of AMSA-Indonesia, Representatives of all university, Ananta Siddhi Prawara as Regional Chairperson AMSA-Indonesia 2016/2017, and all AMSA-Indonesia’s Executive Board 2016/2017 since this guideline will not exist without the help of them. By the publishment of this guideline, me as the LO for GO and NGO AMSAIndonesia 2016/2017 really hope for this guideline to be well used and can help members in doing their future programs. At the beginning of the new century, it is the common aspiration of the peoples of the two countries to deepen mutual understanding, enhance trust, develop friendship and strengthen cooperation. Because the keystone of successful business is cooperation. Friction retards progress.

GO & NGO GUIDELINE

The main objective of this organization is to provide services and not for profit because the organization is a part of a country's commitment to provide services to its citizens. A non-governmental organization (NGO) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens’ group which is organized on a local, national or international level. Task-oriented and driven by people with a common interest, NGOs perform a variety of services and humanitarian functions, bringing citizen concerns to Governments, advocate and monitor policies and encourage political participation through provision of information.

Some are organized around specific issues, such as human rights, environment or health. They provide analysis and expertise, serve as early warning mechanisms and help monitor and implement international agreements. Their relationship with offices and agencies of the United Nations system differs depending on their goals, their venue and the mandate of a particular institution. The World Bank defines a non-governmental organization (NGO) as "private organizations that pursue activities to relieve suffering, promote the interests of the poor, protect the environment, provide basic social services, or undertake community development An international non-governmental organization (INGO) has the same mission as a non-governmental organization (NGO), but it is international in scope and has outposts around the world to deal with specific issues in many countries. An inter-governmental organization (IGO) is any non-profit organization that looks to resolve concerns that affect the world. These organizations can include governments.
