Welcome to ASTA Global Convention ASTA is transforming the way we operate to improve our ability to advocate for members. For more than 80 years ASTA has supported travel professionals and worked to facilitate a vibrant global marketplace that is rewarding for global travel agents, travel suppliers and the traveling public, because one thing is irrefutable: it is essential to the human spirit to go and see. And as travel professionals, you make it all possible. Here is what you can expect and what we hope to achieve over the next few days… • Town Hall—to discuss the travel issue of the century. What is IATA’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) and what does it mean for you and your customers? We will demo, decode and discuss the NDC and other future visions of retailing. • Cruise CEO Panel—Hear from people in charge about the strategic direction of the industry. • All-Industry Panel—Leaders from Car, Hotel, Tour Operators and Technology offer insight that give you an advantage with your customers.

• Achieving Business Excellence—How do your financials, GDS contract and employees’ productivity stack-up against your competitors. • Keynote speaker: The Honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton—After nearly four decades in public service, Mrs. Clinton served as the 67th U.S. Secretary from 2009 until 2013. Her “smart power” approach to foreign policy repositioned American diplomacy and development for the 21st century. Thank you for attending our global convention. We are all here together to share knowledge, celebrate successes and pave the way for our future. To our proud members, you are our greatest asset. We could not accomplish what we do without your support. I hope you enjoy your time here in Miami, the “cruise capital of the world” and gateway to Latin America. We are delighted to be here with you. I look forward to meeting you. Zane Kerby CEO and President, ASTA

HAS LUXURY TRAVEL REBOUNDED?

Post-recession luxury has taken on new meaning for the affluent. They are more savvy and mindful of purchases and increasingly comfortable spending on high-worth items, as long as quality and service are guaranteed. Legacy brands are their mainstay, but they are willing to experiment based on positive word of mouth and trusted recommendations and reviews. The Greater Fort Lauderdale Vacation Like a VIP summer promotion highlights the Lauderdale Luxe Collection of higher-end properties from The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale to the Pillars, voted top Florida hotel by Conde Nast Travel readers. www.sunny.org/luxe

Sabre Travel Network Chris Kroeger, Senior Vice President, Sabre Travel Network Chris is senior vice president of marketing for Sabre Travel Network, a leading provider of solutions for the travel industry. Chris has served on the ASTA Allied Marketing Council and on the NBTA (now GBTA) Allied Leadership Council, and in 2011 was named ASTA Allied Member of the Year. Chris leads a team of dedicated professionals focused on creating a thriving marketplace to meet the needs of buyers and sellers of travel. Learn more at www.sabretravelnetwork.com. CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE EVOLUTION OF SABRE AND ITS FOCUS TODAY?

At a technology company, “evolution” happens constantly and quickly. Some in our industry still refer to Sabre as a “global distribution system” (GDS), but we’ve moved beyond distribution to what is now the world’s leading travel marketplace. Sabre ensures that buyers can efficiently shop, purchase and manage travel. And we provide suppliers with access to a global buyer network, enabling them to differentiate themselves in new and exciting ways. Our focus is on continually innovating that marketplace, whether it’s providing mobile tools for agents and their travelers or enabling agents to access unique, custom offers from suppliers to targeted travelers. WHAT INVESTMENTS IS SABRE MAKING TO HELP TRAVEL AGENCIES?

We constantly work to ensure that our shopping capabilities are second to none. And we’ve also brought many new

CAN YOU ELABORATE ON THE ROLE AND RELATIONSHIP NORWEGIAN HAS WITH THE TRAVEL AGENT COMMUNITY?

capabilities to market during the past 12 to 18 months and have more on the horizon. One example is the Sabre Red App Centre, the industry’s first B2B travel app marketplace. It lets agents download specific apps that tailor their Sabre Red Workspace to meet their unique needs. TripCase Connect gives agencies a robust communication platform to stay connected with travelers on the go. And we recently announced TruTrip, a new service that will give agents a more comprehensive view into their customers’ itineraries, enabling them to provide a higher level of service. Through TruTrip, agents will have visibility into more elements of a trip regardless of where those elements were booked.

Norwegian’s ‘Partners First’ philosophy defines our commitment to the trade through four pillars: Investment in travel partner success, a complete focus on being easy to do business with, a commitment on how we conduct direct business and listening and taking action. Travel partners are critical to our business and every decision that is made at Norwegian is through the lens of ‘How will this affect our travel partners?’

TELL US MORE ABOUT SABRE’S CULTURE.

WHAT DOES 2014 LOOK LIKE FOR NORWEGIAN?

We believe we have the best team in travel, employees who bring talent, passion, commitment, customer focus and innovation. Advocacy is also an integral part of our corporate culture -- advocacy for our industry and our community. Our record and involvement in this area is something we are proud of and something our customers have recognized us for. On the community side, we place great emphasis on being a responsible corporate citizen. Last year, we launched Passport to Freedom, an initiative to raise awareness about human trafficking, child exploitation and the unsuspecting role our industry may play. We were the first travel technology company and the eighth U.S.-based company to sign the ECPAT Code of Conduct. The Code now has more than 1,000 members worldwide. I encourage convention attendees to learn more about these programs and how they and their company can make a meaningful difference. One way to start is by adding the national human trafficking tip hotline to your mobile phone: 1-888-3737-888. All of us as travelers and in the travel industry can be the eyes to make a difference in this effort. Without a doubt, we are an engaged group at Sabre, and it all starts with our culture of helping customers solve the complex problems and opportunities they face.

We grew 10% in 2013 and will be growing 48% in the Caribbean alone in 2014 with the launch of Norwegian Breakaway’s sister ship, Norwegian Getaway, sailing yearround from Miami starting in February. Our new Breakaway Plus and Plus II ships delivering in October, 2015 and March, 2017 will bring another 30% increase in Norwegian cruise capacity. What’s different is that we are deploying most of our new capacity in North America – not overseas – giving North American travel partners a significant opportunity to make more money from cruising. This is why Norwegian should be your cruise line of choice.

Norwegian Cruise Line Camille Olivere, Senior Vice President, Sales, America, Norwegian Cruise Line

WITH SUCH CAPACITY GROWTH, HOW DO YOU PLAN TO FILL SO MANY NEW SHIPS?

Our goal is to be the travel partners’ and our guests’ cruise line of choice, thus we need to offer the best onboard product in the business, always be the innovator, always be one step ahead of our competition and always put travel partners first. Every travel partner in North America has a personal contact at Norwegian through their Business Development Specialist or Manager (if you don’t know who it is, send a quick email to sales@ncl.com). Our trained sales team is keen to build long-lasting relationships, providing co-op marketing funds as well as opportunities to visit and sail aboard Norwegian’s ships. Beyond that you have a direct connection to me, 24/7 on Facebook at www.facebook.com/colivere.
