Message from ASTA’s CEO

WELCOME TO ASTA GLOBAL CONVENTION ASTA is pleased to welcome all of our delegates to Washington, D.C., ASTA’s hometown, for what promises to be the most spectacular Global Convention in recent memory. This is a packed program designed to help you grow your business, further your education as a professional travel agent and bring you together as travel suppliers and sellers from around the globe. The momentum has been building. You are ready, and ASTA is ready, to retake the world stage—together. Here is what you can expect during the convention this week:

Inspirational Education—Learn from industry veterans during various education sessions, such as our Generations Panel about how to weather the good times and prepare for the bad times. Hear from Valerie Wilson, chairman and CEO of Valerie Wilson Travel; Butch Stewart, founder of Sandals Resorts and Brad Anderson, copresident of Avoya Travel talk about the family business. Great Destination—Get to know all of the one-of-a-kind attractions in Washington by signing up for a sightseeing tour. You also will receive discounts on purchases by showing your conference badge at dozens of restaurants and galleries and shops. Historic Venue—We have chosen a venue that is not only a historic spot, but one full of glitz and glam as well. The Omni Shoreham Hotel, which is hosting our Gala Opening Reception, was loved by The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, but also used by many presidents for their inaugural balls, and as a place on occasion. And of course…Politics—Our closing general session will delve into the 2016 Presidential Election and how it will impact you. Former White House insider Ann Compton will give us the inside scoop on the players before we close out with exciting details about where we want to take you in 2016. Thank you for choosing to take the time to join us in Washington. The ASTA staff has endeavored to bring you sessions and networking opportunities that will inspire, educate and sharpen your sales skills. To our proud partners and our members, we thank you for your continued support and hope that you enjoy your time in our nation’s capital. I look forward to both meeting you and seeing old friends.

Sasha will stitch together all the factors, from global consumer psychology to technology’s place in the communication revolution. Everything will be on the table, from why “Social Media” is now discussed in the boardroom to how B2B organizations use brand strategically.

What happens in D.C. does not stay in D.C.

ASTAPAC is the path by which ASTA supports political causes, legislation, regulations and initiatives that promote the travel agency cause. • ASTAPAC dollars help change political futures • ASTAPAC dollars help gain access to key legislators who play important roles in determining the collective future of our industry

Decisions made here impact travel businesses across our nation.

Maintaining a strong PAC will allow ASTA to gain access to key legislators who play important roles in determining our collective futures. Our advocacy successes are thanks to the travel agents and agencies who contribute to the ASTAPAC program.

• ASTAPAC dollars shape legislation to reflect your best interest
