Case-study: Employee transport at Munich Airport

The Challenge • • •

Employees of Germany‘s second-biggest airport must travel to multiple locations on the vast airport grounds For this on-site mobility, Munich Airport provides a fleet of 70 passenger cars, which the employees have access to However, this fleet is heavily under-utilized as the vehicles are parked for the longest part of the day while waiting for the return trip

Swvl‘s solution • • •

With the Shotl-powered ”ShuttleMe” service an On-Demand Bus service with three van vehicles was introduced Instead of driving alone by themselves, employees now could share a ride and use the trip for working, socializing or relaxation By using only three vans which were efficiently running with smart OnDemand ride-matching and routing algorithms, a great number of single-occupancy car trips were saved. 63% of all ShuttleMe-trips were pooled rides

Case-study: Tourist Shuttle in Rimini

The Challenge • • • •

When summer arrives, tourists and locals alike flock to Rimini’s seafront Traditional public transit is not well accepted and many visitors rely on their private car As a result, traffic congestion and parking have been major problems for road-safety and livability of the city Rimini city council, the local tourism promotion agency and Start Romagna (PTO) decided to pilot a DRT service to tackle these challenges

Swvl‘s solution • • • •

Thanks to Shotl’s fully configurable service parameters, two zones were defined to shuttle visitors from the city center to the beach (and back) Travel was only allowed between these zones and not within to ensure vehicle availability Pre-booking ensured an ease-of-mind for the passengers, especially for their trip back In average, over 1,000 passengers used the service per week, with a peak of more than 2,200 passengers during main season
