Connect Amsterdam fall 2023
Foreword
The beating heart of innovation
The innovations presented at and discussed during exhibitions and conferences this year have been impressive, to say the least. I listened with admiration to the success stories, challenges faced and lessons learned shared by participants to inspire others.

Foreword
Euretina, cardiology conference ESC, IBC and the AAIC Alzheimer’s Congress are just some examples of the events that made the RAI the beating heart of innovation. I am truly proud of the way we showcase pioneering ideas that bring various sectors to new heights. Sustainability is increasingly a fixed part of the events that we accommodate. Hence, our venue offers a platform for innovations that both embody business success and are extremely valuable to society. The solutions presented here contribute to areas such as urban transformations which promote the increased efficiency and wellbeing of the community. This is why many of these solutions are part of our vision for the future of RAI Amsterdam, as you can read
in this edition of Connect Magazine, and the ways we support the city in realising its goals too. Innovation is the driving force behind many of the events that take place in the RAI. We are determined to offer a permanent platform for these ideas to thrive. With your help, we are striving for a future in which our convention centre is not only a witness to progress but actually plays an essential part in making things happen.

Simply the best!
The RAI has won two major awards in recent months. The first came at the Exhibitions News Awards in London where we took home the prize for Best International Venue. The annual EN Awards are awarded to people and companies that have made a special contribution to the exhibition sector. As the jury report stated: “The RAI has an exceptional degree of passion, creativity and innovation.” The second industry recognition was received at the 30th AEO (Association of Exhibition Organisers) Excellence Awards, RAI Amsterdam was presented with the Venue Team of the Year Award for how we took on the challenge of aligning our venue to the concept of the financial event Money20/20. Badge collection Schiphol Airport
Last September, the RAI was the stage for over 40,000 media innovators and technical professionals from more than 170 countries. They came together to explore the essential trends and technologies defining the future of media and entertainment. A smooth registration process was requested to be able to process the enormous amount of international visitors to IBC in a short time. During previous editions, registration was possible at Amsterdam Central Station and in hotels. Nevertheless, for IBC 2023, visitors could also register at Schiphol airport. This practical option was an immediate success for those arriving by air, speeding up their registration process and enhancing the overall event experience.

World Gymnaestrada:
World-class with Dutch roots
Last summer saw the RAI host the prestigious World Gymnaestrada sports event. Almost 19,000 participants from around 60 countries came to our premises to showcase their passion for (artistic) gymnastics. “It was absolutely gigantic and immediately proved that we could in fact accommodate any event in the RAI. When you can handle something like this, you can handle anything.” Amsterdam previously hosted the event in 1991, which made the recent edition even more special. Two of the RAI’s employees who experienced both the past and present editions, share their memories of the 1991 event. READ MORE
