EARTH JUSTICE MONTH Activities: Middle School held an Equity and Inclusion event which students helped plan and gained experience leading workshops. One of the topics included learning about how Plastic is highly toxic to humans and the planet. Plastic is an Earth Justice topic and a social justice issue.

ADOPT A CAMPUS Thank you to everyone who has made campus clean-up a priority! This is an ongoing challenge and needs all of our attention. If we each take our homerooms or advisories to clean the campus once a week, it will make a big difference. The pictures to the right were taking on one day in a 10 minute time span. EARTH JUSTICE MONTH Activities

In Jane Zanger’s Global Studies class, students Assembled by Amy Holt Cline

studied Global Climate change through the lens of poetry. They learned about the “Dear Matefele Peinam" poem which is a letter to a young child about the future of the planet. Students wrote some remarkable free verse poetry about their own sacred spaces. Here are a few of those poems.

For the log by the creek, you are everything I love your peacefulness, your quietude, your familiarity I enjoy sitting down and appreciate the moment. I will sometimes read a book or simply watch the stream rush by the feeling of the fresh air blowing past me, the melodious songs sang by the birds, the nearby trees dancing in the wind, and the true feeling of home

Dear stream, You are the keeper of peace within me Whenever I feel lost You see something in me that others cannot There’s just something about Your Rust-colored flowing, ebbing, waters Eternally undulating, Up, Down, Right, Left You somehow manage to tell me Everything without a word, Just the sound of Your water is enough To lull anyone to a deep sleep, Full of thought and care, You really do repair, You understand, You believe, You validate, You give so much, And ask for little in return, All You need is my time, But with someone like You, That is a small price to pay for Salvation. (Christopher Hutson)

you are a friend to me someone I can trust, someone who can comfort me and someone I can always return to (Adam Kugelman) LET’S DEVELOP A GREEN
