I AM U.S. ENGINEERING We actively engage in maintaining a culture in which people can be the best version of themselves. Each of us is responsible for making this happen, and every one of our team members has the right to operate in this type of an environment. While we stay passionate about our projects and focused on our common goals, we always put our people first in everything we say and do. Our people don’t just matter, they are the priority. These cultural “norms” are just that, the normal way things happen around here, every day.

SELFLESSNESS + HUMILITY • I allow teammates to perform at their highest level by owning my part and holding others accountable for their part. • I ask for help when needed, and allow other team members to support me. • I am curious about different opinions, seek to understand, and listen without jumping to conclusions. I have fun at work. • I humbly give and accept feedback. • I choose a positive attitude, knowing that attitudes are contagious - I do not engage in negativity. • I don’t seek to be a super hero. Instead, I plan ahead and work with teammates to avoid emergencies. • I lead by positive example.

CARE + TRUST • I control my responses and emotions, rater than letting my emotions control me. • I avoid anything that brings about shame. We are teammates. • I express my views with tact, and avoid “meetings after the meeting”. • I actively listen while avoiding distractions (including my cell phone). • I place trust in my team members, and don’t isolate my knowledge. • When a problem arises, I assume positive intent. When our team fails, we all fail. • I always respond to emails, voice-mails, and other inquiries in a timely manner. • I am honest about not knowing something. I deal in facts, not assumptions.

UNDERSTANDING + ACCEPTANCE • I treat all people with respect regardless of any individual differences. I believe diverse perspectives makes us stronger. • I don’t let things linger, but face issues immediately so that problems don’t grow. • I focus on root causes, not symptoms. • I actively strive to understand others. • I encourage and motivate team members with what encourages and motivates THEM.

IMPROVEMENT + OWNERSHIP • I recognize and celebrate accomplishments and progress. • I understand that when the team fails, we all fail, and I seek ways to support all team members. • I talk about mistakes, so as to avoid them in the future. • I seek to deliver practical solutions to problems, not deflect them to others to solve. • I contribute positively and intentionally, even if outside my area of expertise. • I stay open minded to challenges, and embrace change. • I have no interest in being an “employee”, but instead focus on being a teammate. • I take primary responsibility for my self-development and self-improvement. • I am a professional.
