EDITOR’S LETTER
When I started my master’s degree at SCAD, I didn’t know what to expect. I was excited, nervous, and scared. It was a salad of feelings that I learned to enjoy. My first quarter went by smoothly, even with its ups-and-downs I loved it. However, my second quarter topped it. I think this project had been the cherry on top of the program and I still have four more quarters to go. My excitement when I heard we had to create what I have dreamed of doing my entire life is unexplainable. It just made me much more excited about the projects to come during the master’s degree, and I can’t wait to learn more about the industry. If you’ve watched Confessions of a Shopaholic, you should know that Rebecca Bloomwood is my alter ego – minus the credit card debts of course. In the following pages, you’ll get to see the project rundown, the creative process, and research, behind the scenes photography, and the credits. Hope you enjoy it, Ana Marino
PROJECT BRIEF
For this project, we had to select a fashion publication (printed or online) and produce a fashion editorial. First, we had to research and analyze our publication of choice and decided how many pages our editorial was going to be. Second, we needed to research upcoming trends and select one to showcase, lastly, out editorial required at least eight original outfits styled with the trend of choice. The editorial needed to simulate the editorials of our publication of choice and photography and styling should need to directed by the student.
After careful consideration and having Vogue, Elle, and Haper’s Bazaar as my top three publications of choice, I dicided to go with the third one. I chose Haper’s Bazaar as my publication of choice. In terms of the trend, I chose animal print. For fall and winter it is a very popular trend specially for the 2018-2019 season. I wanted the editorial to have a feminine power with sophisticatd touch. It took me around two weeks to style the eight outfits and go scouting location.
