Entry #2: Report on a Designer
Isabella Taylor is a 13 year old prodigy. She started her own business at 8, graduated high school at 11, and is now in her second year of college. She developed a love for painting at the age of 3 which has inspired all of her collections in some way. She devoloped her first collection after attending sewing camp, where she went to learn how to apply fabrics to her canvas’. Her collection was sold from her website and at local boutiques. Her second collection, however, was featured at the Christy Stubs Gallery in Dallas during Fashion’s Night Out. Isabella has been featured in Austin Fashion Week these past two years in a row, winning a “Rising Star Award”, and in the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Oklahoma City this year. This past month she debuted her 2015 spring collection at New York Fashion Week.

Isabella has recently released her fall collection called “Urban Camper”. This collection was also based off her childhood artwork, incorporating earth tones, reds, greys, and mustard. Nordstrom has already shown interest in this collection saying that she fit the customer profile for their juniors department. I anticipate other expensive department stores will show interest in her as well. Mustard yellow is one of my absolute favorite colors to wear, along with plum, and she incorporates both of those colors in her collection. I’m very into the hipster type style so I love her shorties. The lace pairs are my favorite. She also released a battleship grey, see-through t-shirt which I also really like because it adds a modern feel to her collection.
