pananaw

She can tell daw ang past, present, future at can re-unite lovers, lost love, at new love.

When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to Kaibigan

imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD; because of these same detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the LORD your God.”-Deuteronomy 18:9-13 Ayaw din ng Diyos na manalig o maniwala tayo sa mga false o hidwaang Pilosopya.

After one year and six months malapit na siyang umuwi dahil finish contract sa Saudi.

Through the help of God, ako ang lang nakapasa sa interview.

God is good in every way and I know that He and our Lord Jesus love me Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. -- Psalm 34:8

Strong-Willed Children are a Blessing

T

here’s a lot of talk about strong-willed kids. These children know what they want and are not easily deterred. They’re often driven, inflexible, and know how others should fit into their plans. They have the determination to face resistance, even if that resistance is some kind of authority in their lives.

The reality is that these kids will likely be leaders in the future, and they demonstrate many of those qualities now. However, all good leaders need to learn how to follow and if not trained, these kids can become tyrants. So, parents of these gifted children have their work cut out for them.

effect, parents must learn to mold and guide that internal motivation. It starts with a good understanding of the heart. The heart contains the child’s desires, emotions, passions, beliefs, and convictions. As the heart is molded toward Godly character and responsibility, then the strong-willed child develops convictions to motivate right behavior, desires to do what’s right, and an internal sense of satisfaction when being responsible, caring about others, or telling the truth.

If you find your child unresponsive to attempts to motivate with reward and punishment, try to We’re finding more and more that these kids identify a heart quality that needs to develop. Heart challenge the typical behavior modification qualities are things like kindness, thoughtfulness, system of rewards and punishment. Parents generosity, initiative, and diligence. lament, “nothing works.” They say, “He doesn’t care if I take everything away, he won’t change.” Talk to your child about the heart quality and “She doesn’t care about the star chart, the trip build vision for why it will be helpful in life. Then this weekend, or dessert.” In that reality the key work together to develop a plan for building this to parenting them is revealed. Children who are quality in your child’s heart. Pray together that characterized as “strong-willed” have an internal God would increase this quality, and then talk motivation toward their agenda, and are less about it regularly. Overtime you’ll see your child affected by external motivations so a heart-based make right choices due to the change on the inside. approach is essential. Kaibigan A parent’s use of rewards and punishment have less influence on this child because the motivation is coming from inside. So, how do we help this internally motivated child move in the right direction? Since external motivation has little

Freedom

John 8:32, “Then you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”

S

ome years ago, there was a very well-known political leader in the United States. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King. He was a black man, a Christian pastor, and he was involved in a movement in the U.S. to ensure equal rights and equal protection under the law for all people, black people, white people, men, women, poor people, his message was, “Equal rights for all human beings.” His message was based on the foundation that all people have the right to be free from discrimination and unfair treatment, and he gave a very famous speech, entitled, “I have a Dream,” which he ended by proclaiming, “Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, I am free at last!” Dr. Martin Luther King was not in prison. He was talking about spiritual freedom, a freedom which is in your heart, a freedom which lets you live your life without hate or fear. There are so many people in this world who are out walking in the streets, driving their cars, going here and there at will, but they are not “free.” They are imprisoned by their own bad emotions and in the bonds and chains of their own evil lifestyle. They do not feel happy, and at peace, in fact, they often feel so angry and hateful, or so worried and stressed, that they cannot enjoy a happy life. They are in their own psychological prison, and they might as well be behind bars. In the Bible, Jesus says to each one of us, in John 8:32, “If you are my disciples, then you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” This does not mean that you will be psychologically and emotionally free. Do you believe that you can feel totally and truly “free,” even though you are still locked up in your cell? You can, and the only way to be “free at last” is to be a disciple of Jesus, and to know Jesus in your

heart. It is not hard to do, the Bible tells us, we just have to know who Jesus is, and believe in him, and we will be free. The freedom that Jesus gives us allows us to have hope, to forgive, to feel joy in our hearts, and to believe that as children of God, we can be together with God in heaven forever. It is then, and only then, that we can ever be completely and truly free. Jesus offers this true freedom to every person, no matter who you are, or what you may have done. You can become a different person, a free person, and this will bring you such a good feeling that your every day will be better, filled with this n e w

feeling of freedom. This is what God wants for you today, and he is calling you today to become free. If you want help to find this new and true freedom, ask one of the Bible teachers if Jesus can really help you to be free, or write us a letter here at Kaibigan, we can help you to know how to say, “Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, I am free at last!!!” Kaibigan

Kebebasan

Si Katya, a 20-year-old Ukrainian girl na nag-akala na magiging maganda ang trabaho sa America ngunit nauwi sa Detroit, puersadong pinag-huhubad sa isang strip club and locked into a tiny apartment with other women.

May pag-asa ba? Sinabi ni Jesus, “K a y o n g l a h a t n a n a p a p a ga l a t nabibigatang lubha, pumarito kayo sa akin at bibigyan ko kayo ng kapahingahan. Kaibigan

aster tradition is celebrated on April 20, 2014 this year. Many, I understand participate in the tradition of Easter Bunny also known as Spring Bunny where people bring baskets filled with colored eggs, candy, and sometimes toys to children homes on the eve before Easter. They hide them somewhere in the house or garden and children are supposed to look for them the next day which is the tradition of the Easter egg hunt. I understand that the word Easter comes from a pagan figure called Eastre who was the goddess of spring by the Saxons of Northern Europe. A festival was held during the spring equinox by these people to honor her. Another tradition eventually eclipsed the spring bunny celebration, the Christian celebration of the resurrection of Christ and the new era He heralded. Many of us will definitely

enjoy the fun of egg hunting with our family of course, but what promise is there for us to claim from the resurrection of Christ on Easter day celebration? I don’t know about you, but I found two promises to claim on Easter day than just eggs, candies and toys good as they are. 1. The promise of forgiveness. Though I am not seriously a bad guy in day to day terms, I offend God and some people from time to time, intentionally or not. In other words, I sin in thoughts, in words and in deeds. I do not want to die in case with that in my heart and conscience. I definitely need the forgiveness of God and the forgiveness of people. I need to be assured that my faith in God who forgives sin is Kaibigan

certain. I found the words of the Apostle Paul in the Bible very re-assuring when he wrote, “if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.” My claim to forgiveness is made certain by the resurrection of Christ. 2. The promise of resurrection. There are many promises made on earth by men. The politicians make great promises to voters. Modern medicine promise to make our life healthy. The insurance salesmen promise to provide for life’s uncertainties. But I found the promise of resurrection by Jesus far more amazing. Jesus said as recorded by the Apostle John, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26).

22

jan-may 2014

I do not see myself as gullible but a skeptical person. However, when the record show the authoritative evidence of the reality of resurrection, I asked myself, why would I refuse the gift of resurrection? The record shows Jesus brought Lazarus to life, a man dead already for days. Jesus even predicted his own death and resurrection when he said, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again” (Mark 8:31). His disciples found his grave empty after he was buried three days. The record further reported, “Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep” ( 1 Corinthians 15:6). Somebody made a thoughtful comment about the martyrdom of the disciples of Jesus,“There are many martyrs in history. Men and women who died for their beliefs. But the disciples of Christ did not die for deeply held beliefs about which they could have been honestly mistaken. They died for their claims to have seen Jesus alive and well after His resurrection. They died for their claim that Jesus Christ had not only died for their sins but that He had risen bodily from the dead to show that He was like no other spiritual leader who had ever lived.” In the loss of Malaysian Flight 370, what hope can we give the people who lost their loved ones, they may never see again in case? In the hunt to find hope in the face of our mortality, I believed God provided the only certain way to immortal life in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is now up to us to believe and claim the promise. Happy Easter! Kaibigan

GOD’s Faithfulness for me in TAIWAN (Sept. 2012 to Dec. 2013) Bro. Rommel LLagas.

1. I am able to go back to my home country Philippines …. to our new, comfortable and better house. This has been our dream and I am really grateful to God that He fulfilled our dream. I realized that if we come to Him faithfully, trust Him, be obedient and do our part, He will bless us with the desires of our heart. 2. I blended perfectly with my co-workers even if we have different beliefs and culture. I never had any problem with them. They welcome and accepted me with warm friendship. I thank God that I have the courage to introduce the name JESUS CHRIST to some of them. And I pray that this may trigger their awareness about the only ONE and TRUE God. I realized that if we put God into our works, He will provide us with the wisdom needed to perform our job excellently. 3. BSCC was for me the best blessing I received here in Taiwan. With the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit, I was able to achieve my goal to complete BSCC according to God’s perfect timing. I thought I will not able to finish it because my contract is supposed to end earlier in September but God made a way to fulfill His purpose for me. My contract has been extended until end of year 2013 long enough to finish the course. I had chosen to drop other things that God did not want me to do and instead focus on BSCC. And now, I feel accomplished because I had already completed it. BSCC spared me from the call of the world. God is calling my attention to use my spare time for BSCC instead on worldly activities in Taiwan and I obeyed Him. I realized that one reason God allowed me to be in Taiwan

was because of BSCC. God had given me the right choice to decide what to do with my spare time and so I decided to use this for His purpose and glory…..BSCC draws me closer to Him. I can never thank enough the ministry for introducing this to me. I knew God had drawn me here. It is His purpose for me to gain sufficient knowledge about being a true Christian so that I can use it later on for His next purpose….for me to teach and spread the Gospel. I don’t know how but I trust God to show me the way how to start and fulfill His next purpose on me. I become stronger, more mature Christian because of the course. I learned so many Godly principles on how to live a Christian Life. I learned the knowledge of Old Testament and New Testament connections specifically how is the Tabernacle of Moses related to Jesus Christ.

BSCC is sufficient enough for me to know the will of God for mankind, sufficient enough to start growing in faith and sufficient enough to be assured that I and my family have a place in heaven with our Almighty Father. I had realized that sometimes God will not show us His purpose in advance, He will show it to us once we are already in the situation and already performing it. 4. My family got the chance to visit Taiwan and able to see God’s amazing creations here. I consider this a bonus blessing because we would like to avoid spending too much for the travel. Our priority is the repair and renovation of our house. However, God has given it to us for free. All travel expenses has been paid by the company and we spend less than what we expect because friends and colleagues has been used by God for us to appreciate and enjoy the country, to try country’s foods and visit cultural attractions for free. I realized, God really knew the desires of our heart and if we obey Him, He will faithfully bless us in His own time, in His own way….. I thank God for this blessings to my family. I had realized that God does not only give us what we basically need but also gives us overflowing blessings we can’t imagine provided we come to Him humbly and faithfully. 5. Linkou Chapter was re-established and I am grateful that God has used me and meet the right people here to re-group and reopen the fellowship. Several visitors have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour through the fellowship. God has used my house which I voluntarily offered for this kind of gathering for the Lord. I am praying that God will continue to work on this part of Taiwan and give the group

leaders wisdom and strength to continue spreading the Gospel not only to Filipino OFWs but also to the local people around the area. I also hope that I had shown an example and gave encouragement to them. I Thank God that He used me together with the other brothers and sisters in fulfilling His purpose on this part of Taiwan. I had realized that there are people around the world that we can meet to share our life with, to be an inspiration and motivator, and to be a living example. 6. God has shown me the realities of life here in Taiwan, the daily struggles facing each OFWs like homesickness and other emotional challenges, God taught me to be stronger on worldly temptations, the wisdom needed to manage the financial blessings given to me, I Thank God that I found Taipei American School where my TIC Taipei International Church -Tagalog Fellowship Family resides. I Thank God for showing me the nature of Taiwan….the two faces of weather just like our life journey – there will be struggles and challenges but we always have a hope that after the stormy day follows a bright shining day. I had realized that God has made our world a better place to live in, made amazing creations to be appreciated with, to teach a lesson in some way, and to be a source of joy. 7.…..and of course my best buddy who is always with me on weekends and spare times. It is my transport buddy whenever I like to see the beauty of the place or looking for a place of “quiet time.” I had realized during my quiet time that God has different ways to be able to be with Him quietly and joyfully. I was able to appreciate the beauty of a country without much expenditures. I really THANK GOD for the wonderful and blessed journey in Taiwan. All things went exactly as He planned and directed according to my heart’s desire. I will go back to my home because I knew that He will use me for another purpose. Thank You Oh my Lord! Kaibigan

Why Go to Church --Author Unknown

I

f you’re spiritually alive, you’re going to love this!
If you’re spiritually dead, you won’t want to read it.
If you’re spiritually curious, there is still hope!

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. “I’ve gone for 30 years now,” he wrote, “and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can’t remember a single one of them. So, I think I’m wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all.” This started a real controversy in the “Letters to the Editor” column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:
“I’ve been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!” When you are DOWN to nothing, God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible!

Thank God for your physical AND our spiritual nourishment! When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say, “Jesus, could you get that for me?” Kaibigan

Avoiding Heat-Related Illness During Summer

T

How to stay safe and cool

he summer months are fast approaching, and with that can come the increased risk of heat-related illness (HRI) ranging from heat cramps and exhaustion to heat stroke — especially for athletes. Signs and symptoms include headache, nausea, decreased urination, and in extreme situations can lead to delirium, coma and even death. It’s important for coaches, athletic trainers, parents and professional and recreational athletes to know how to prevent HRI and to have knowledge of the signs and symptoms. Hyperthermia Heat production is generated with physical activity and production of sweat as a cooling mechanism through evaporation. When this thermoregulation is not working properly elevated core body temperature (hyperthermia) can result. Dehydration Dehydration is a loss of total body water, leading to decreased blood volume characterized by sodium depletion (hypovolemia). Signs of dehydration include dry lips and tongue, increased thirst, headache, weakness, dizziness, nausea, cramps and dark urine. Sweating allows dissipation of heat, so replacement of fluids and electrolytes to replenish volume and maintain the cooling mechanism is important. Hypovolemia may lead to reduction in sweat production resulting in a rise in core temperature. Despite adequate fluid replacement, when relative humidity rises above 75 percent, evaporation becomes ineffective, and thermoregulation is compromised. Excessive water consumption can lower the relative sodium content of the blood, causing a condition known as hyponatremia. Signs and symptoms include nausea, vomiting, confusion and headache. It is important to drink according to thirst, and to maintain a state of normal hydration during activity and in the days leading

up to activities rather than attempting to replenish fluids at the last minute. Both water and electrolyte replacement may be used during activities. Precautions There are many things we can do to prevent being overheated. Steps include: • Limiting sun exposure and exercising in the early morning or evening when it is not as hot and humid and limiting time and intensity • Slowly acclimating to warmer climates over about a period of 10 to 14 days. This makes spring/late summer training sessions an important prevention strategy • Removing unnecessary clothing and equipment during practice • Having adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement throughout the activity • Being aware of the signs and symptoms of dehydration. Heat overload may accumulate over days, so being aware of development of the symptoms noted above is crucial to early detection. Treatment Be sure to seek medical attention immediately if the athlete is showing any mental status changes. Cooling and fluid replacement by trained personnel may also be initiated to decrease core body temperature and rehydrate the athlete. Dipanggil untuk saling menolong Firman: Galatia 6:1-10

S

Makin berat makin mengandalkan Tuhan! Perhatikan kata “bebanmu” berarti beban milik kamu pribadi dan menjadi

tanggung jawabmu.

membawa orang yang jatuh mampu berdiri kembali d e n g a n “ ro h m u menyala-nyala” (Rom 12:11).

Biarlah semua orang terutama saudara seimanmu menikmati hidup bersamamu! Kaibigan
