WHY ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN My purpose as an architect and designer is firmly grounded in the belief that every person and client represent a world unto themselves. I envision myself as an architect that has the capacity to bring to reality the worlds people dream for the spaces they want to move through. I genuinely enjoy every facet of the architectural process, from the intricate thought and schematic process where ideas are nurtured from the perspectives of the clients to the skillful combination of materials that breathe life into those visions. For me, the essence of exceptional architecture lies in its ability to evoke deep emotions and provide elegant solutions to the needs and desires of its users. It is crafting a journey through a space, with textures that engage the senses, colors that gracefully dance before one’s eyes, and the creation of meaningful spaces to inhabit and move through. As a designer, my aspiration is to always create architecture that at least taps into the limitless realm of human imagination and creativity and transforms these concepts into tangible realities. I want to go beyond merely constructing buildings and be able to comprehend the broader context to enrich the sense of place. I aim to connect people not only to the physical spaces, but to each other though intentional and unforgettable experiences in the spaces I can design for them.

Scope Area: 26, 000 SF Completition: February 2021 In a seamless collaboration, Alliance Architecture partnered with Cooley LLP and Rand Constructions to orchestrate the relocation of Cooley’s existing office from Broomfield Colorado to the vibrant heart of downtown Denver. This ambitious endeavor saw the transformation of an entire 23rd floor, spanning approx. 26,000 SF, into a dynamic and innovative workspace. Our mission was to create a harmonious balance of color, textures, and intricate details to elevate the new office space. Technology and construction craft were seamlessly woven together to create unique and immersive experiences. Notable features include the reception are, which boasts a custom solid surface desk crowned by color changing linear fixtures, exiting over a 400-ft expanse. These are arranged in angles inspired by the iconic silhouette of the Rocky Mountains and bring a sense of place to the space. A distinguishing characteristic of this project is that its development and coordination took place during the challenging backdrop of the pandemic. The teams managed to successfully leverage digital meeting platforms on each technical facet, form video conferencing to 3D progress photos, ensuring the project stayed on track. The final result is a statement of the teams’ tenacity and adaptability as we all embraced the unique challenges presented by remote collaboration. This project not only meets its objectives but exemplifies the power of teamwork overcoming complex environments. The project showcases the synergy of innovation and perseverance, making it a remarkable achievement.

03 MO · TION KINETIC ARTS MUSEUM ASHEVILLE N.C.

Professor Daniel Brown Spring 2019

The traditional role of museums is to collect objects and materials, preserve them, research into them and present them to the public for education and enjoyment. However, while other museums hold art inside of them the Asheville’s Kinetic Arts Museum intends to be much more than that and provide a new experience where the building is the art itself. By fusing the fascination with movement and the appreciation of creative arts, the museum serves as a celebration of motion, which is exposed on its Kinetic Façade. On it, the building appears as waves on the landscape, echoing the movement of the French Broad River in Asheville, N.C.

*2019 SCAD Senior Project Award for Outstanding Artistry*

Softwares: Revit / V-Ray / AutoCAD / Adobe (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator) / Microsoft Office.

A PARK IN MOTION | SITE DESIGN It all began with the design of the site. Currently, the French Broad River Park consists on s single concrete loop with a small children playground and a dog park. After analyzing and studying the site and the people’s behavior on it, the new park design started to develop. Based on the existing loop, new paths were designed. One for the bikes on site and one for the pedestrians. On the bike path, the phosphorescent concrete collects sunlight during the day and shimmers at night, activating the path at night and creating an interesting pattern visible from above the hill residences as well. The pedestrian path is wide enough to BIKE allow access for food trucks or in R E N TA L the case of any accident emergency vehicles can easily access all parts of the park easily. RETENTION POND & E L E VAT E D PAT H

Additionally, nodes on the park are SUNKEN designed to both attract and invite PLAZA more people to experience the park in new fun/natural ways; and at the

same time implement sustainability measures on site. For instance, the water retention pond was designed after a careful water study, and it was designed not only to serve a water filtration method but as a possible community pool in summer and a natural ice-skating rink in winter. With an elevated path to experience it from different heights in all seasons. Among other features there is the use of tree for natural shading and microclimates; water filtration terraces as interactive features and PA R KIN G to drain possible floodings on site; permeable pavers and bioswales to help on site water filtration; path segments with kinetic pavers that can generate energy on site; and floating gardens made up of recycled plastic to help regulate the rivers’ tides and give an appealing look for the river bank.

MOTION | THE MUSEUM The building is conceived from the idea of developing a museum that would not only serve as a recognizable landmark, but that integrates with the landscape, not imposing the architecture on the site but developing it from the context. It is composed of two main plazas that clasp the building’s main entrance at the underground. One of the plazas serves as the entrance to the museum, while the other functions as a platform to experience the moving façades. Three main volumes extrude from the ground with a kinetic façade attached to them, providing different experiences within the interior spaces in the museum. MO · TION is a tribute to the concept of movement in the territories of art and architecture.

Harmonizing nature and human wellness. The Alveare Spa is an innovative therapeutic oasis that aims to seamlessly integrate nature and alternative medicine into a healing space for the community of Savannah. Alveare Spa stand as a testament to the transformative power of architecture and its ability to enhance human experience. Nestled in a sustainable and quiet environment, the spa provides alternate therapy methods, fostering the well-being through custom-designed spaces that elevate the impact of treatments such as aroma therapy sessions, massages, facials, and wellness classes. In a unique and symbolic collaboration, Alveare Spa would be collaborating with the local honeybee farm, The Savannah Bee Company. This collaboration not only enriches the spa experience but also underscores the commitment of supporting local business and fostering community engagement. . Softwares:

optimal; therefore, the complex is designed to accommodate the clients inside a well shaded structure, surrounded by a shaded path attached to the main building.

The ‘Savannah Bee Company’ works with local honeybee keepers, and bees, to produce a variety of health and beauty products. The design of this Spa anticipates the use of individual pods that will serve as modular components that can encapsulate the sustainable ideas planned for the spa.

The project aims to provide a physical connection to the surrounding neighborhoods and businesses by integrating continuous sidewalks with permeable paving for easy pedestrian access. In addition, alternative transportation methods such as bus and bike rentals, will also incentivize people to visit more the grounds and participate in the spa therapy options.

The climate in Savannah is hot and humid. Shaded and cooled spaces are

DESIGN IN PHASES

The spa complex is oriented on an East-West direction, in order to maximize day-light intake, which is appreciated for winter and redirected during summer by the building’s overhangs and a louvered shading system.

The spa’s complex is situated on a site that has been divided in three phases, in case of future land negotiations and/or expansions. It currently is designed to occupy two thirds of the land and respect the site’s geometry.

MODULAR POD

Elements inspired by the world of bees, such as the honeycomb motifs and natural color palettes and construction materials are seamlessly woven into the architectural fabric, creating a cohesive and immersive environment. The additional design of a modular pot aims to give the opportunity to the Spa to whether expand the number of PODs as the business grows, or to relocate the existing to new locations as required, providing flexible adaptations on site. The pod structure consists of four studs that clasp together the five surfaces that encompass each pod. Two of the partitions that make up the pod consist of a wood frame with a translucent surface, to provide privacy yet enough translucency, for natural light intake to the interior of each therapeutic pod. Other two facades consist of a similar wood frame with the addition of ‘Solar Ivy Skins’ that will generate the energy necessary for additional equipment inside the pods. And finally, a solid ‘cherry wood panel’ would be holding the modular bee hives, which are to be the main element of the therapies within the spa pods. The pod’s foundations would be standing over ‘Tabby Gravel’, used also for water filtration and sustainability, so that each POD can be easily assembled between three to four persons.

Professor Samuel Olin Fall 2018

The challenge is to design a mixed used building that encompases a Culinary Arts School, a small cafe and a space for the community to foster stronger relationships. It is located in a historical urban setting. The project is proposed to be sited in Apt du Jules in the Provencal Region at the South of France . The form and function of the space is designed with reference to local Provencal architecture and cuisine, repecting the historical context of the City of Apt.

PL ACE JEAN JAURES The whole design is centered on the idea of revitalizing and existing but forgotten plaza that holds the remaining parts of the stairs of an ancient roman amphitheater. The idea is to design a garden that allows for spontaneous interactions resulting in social and cultural exchanges between students, everyday users and visitors. The design of a Culinary Arts School that imitates a colorful and diverse context in a seamless integration with the square, the building and the city.

After several conversations with the people of Apt, as a studio we discovered that for them the ruins where not something they were very proud of nor cared as much due to the violent history of Roman Amphitheaters. Therefore, a solution thought with the intentions of reactivating the plaza involving the ruins without recalling Roman history per se, was to design a natural herbs garden that merged with the ruins. Aiming to plant new life on a forgotten site and recalling the farming traditions, roots of the Province in the South of France.

AMBIENCE IN US Traveling and learning from so many different cultures has made me very curious and passionate about deciphering what different places can mean. The way these can impact us and create an ambience so different for each one of us. I started designing some collages of the places I visited, and I started with me. I am a place I have yet to discover, and by representing who I am I started to see things differently.

I want to dare to walk, even barefoot. I want to smile, even without a motive. I want to help, without needing anything in return. I want to grow, in mind and soul. I want to change the world, starting with me. - AMV

Apt du Jules Where intimate space became full of life; where Sunday Markets filled the town with life; and where the sense of community was always present. It was a place where time and tradition meet the modern and coexisted to produce arts in all sort of kinds present in the market. - AMV

THE NOW Electronic Collage, 2017

Understanding time can be a big element in design; therefore, this collage aims to express how The Now is a reference that serves as the datum that moves us through time, because without the now, there is no future and because of the now we have a past.

ARCHI - SKETCHES Architectural appreciation can be demonstrated not only through architectural photography, but through sketches as well. Personal interpretations can be derived while sketching architecture and these will stay forever in one’s mind in the process of drawing and on the details being translated into the page in one’s unique style and drawing language.
