01dwelling diner reactivating the ground floors of Detroit

The lab MicroMegas focuses on projects of urban renewal, taking theapproachthat many Micro interventions make a Mega impacton the selected area. My program integrates the proposed Master Plan for North End, Detroit. It divides the home in half, leaving the top floor as a modestly-sized private residence while transforming the groundfloorintoadiningspacethatgeneratesincomeandprovides much-needed amenities for building community. The proposal aims to compromise the public and private. The adaptive reuse of dwellingstructurestohostnewactivitieswouldhelpthecitywithits revitalizationandgrowth goals.

The second part of this project showcase the BIM skills applied to demonstrate thecostsandstructurethat’dbeused.

Ham is a hamlet of fewer than 100 inhabitants, located in the heart of the loop of the Ourthe. The project consists of a conversion of an industrial farm with a long-term vision into a micro-farm. Not only the type of cultivation will be changed, but also the function ofthebuildings.

03pailletech house

an evolutive house, Brussels

Unlike conventional wood framing, the straw wall system is heavier and therefore has excellent thermal inertia (provided by the earth coatings) in particular to reduce the risk of overheating in summer. In addition, the higher density of the straw allows having a thermal phase shift greater than one day. The interior coating regulates humidity, ensures airtightness and contains no substance from the petrochemical industry. Using this system to create an evolutive house, the project is composed of two independent studios that can be connected by only removing a light partition. This type of usage allows the user to take advantage of the additional space and make profits over the years until more space is needed.

04Carcalla baths

analysis of Choisy work, Brussels

The exercise begins with an interest in the author and its historical and epistemological context and the historical and patrimonial object.

ThefragmentanalysedispartoftheBathsofCaracalla, whichistoday one of the best preserved thermal buildings of the Roman Empire. Designed according to a strictly symmetrical plan, the building consists of a central body for the baths framed by an almost square enclosure. The thermal building forms a fairly compact rectangle, widenedbyasemicircleformedbytherotundaofthecaldarium.Itis 214mlongand110mdeep,excludingthecaldarium.Thefrigidarium, a real nave with three arches supported by eight pillars, measures 58 m by 24 m. The caldarium forms a circle 34 m in diameter, half embedded in the building. Its eight pillars support a dome with an estimated height of 45m. Each inner courtyard of the palestres measures50mby20m.

05campi urbani polyculture in application, Rabat

In the capital of Morocco, many ditricts find themselves in a position of lack of attractivity. In other words they lack integration with the new created (or in process of creation) centralities. My final master project had as a main intentionality the polyculture applied to urban planning as a means of supporting cultural parks. The office desks and the museum will serve as the financial heart to cover the costs of operations.Allowing greater access to culture for the masses and consolidating the centrality of Hay Riad. Analysis of the nature of the environment, administrative sites, educational sites as well as residential areas and area with tourism potential. The commercial and cultural needs of the population, office staff, students, residents and visitors.

Conceptual approach

Imaging the relationship between these differents elements and the public allowed the system created to blur the bounderies and create a vital community moment. The role of the public spaces fills a void that prevails due to the urban configuration of the district. The permeable street fronts create a welcoming public realm.

a new waterfront at the north of Ladispoli

Objectofthecompetition

The waterfront of the north of Ladispoli, at the mouth of the river Vaccina, is an entry point to the city center, which is suitable to be developed as a new focusof public services for the people, and as a meetingplaceforvisitors, ofinformationandtourismactivities. The master plan of the urban area on the water and the design of the four public buildings placed on it - an information / services / trade center, a center for underwater archeology / cultural and exhibition center, a club for boating, a center for beach services and bathing - of small size but strong formal content, functional and technological, are the theme of the project ideas competition to be concluded by the thematic session of deepening Architecture ofcoastalmargins, organized withthecollaborationofCSIAA, tobe heldatCastleProceno (VT).

The park is located in Giordano Sangalli Torpignattara district. L’AcquedottoAlessandrinowasbuiltin200ADbyEmperorAlexander Severus from which it takes its name. L’Acquedotto Alessandrino was subject of residents’ complaints of deterioration and neglect. The design solution rested on the redevelopment of the area’s local qualities.Giventhehistoryoftheplace, theprojectsoughttorevitalize thesitewhilepreservingits time-characteristicelements andforms. Creating various levels and viewpoints and the use of a variety of different materials set this park apart from its urban and concrete surroundings,  and draw the passersby into space, encouraging various activities and social engagements.   Creating places, where people can pause, gather, play, and be exposed to natural elements, are a challenge within urban settings, butalsoarguablynecessary.

What waterfront for Casablanca?

The case of the Casablanca waterfront is similar to that of Asian countries(whicharetendingmoreandmoretowardsthecommercial function), this search for international prestige image is to the detrimentofthegoodoftheinhabitantsofCasablanca.

A metropolis that cruelly lacks public spaces, green spaces and spacespromotingculture.
