Tanjong Pagar terminal is the area that is planned to be new tourist destination area with total area of 600 ha. Planned to be redeveloped, It will have a variety of land use: housing, commercial, school, gallery, office, etc. The city is working to build 700,000 homes with 200,000 homes already built, and at the same time, Singapore needs more green space to support their city in the garden concept. The design result is having the redevelopment with approximately 172,000 units of housing to fulfill 1/3 of the 500,000 future housing unit requirement.

GREATER SOUTHERN WATERFRONT The site is divided into four areas: City Center, Garden in The City, Old Tanjong Pagar and The Nature. The city center is a part of the area where the buildings have a maximum building height of 280 m. It consists of housing from HDB to elite apartments with first floors dedicated for commercial use. It also has commercial buildings such as offices, malls, restaurants, etc.

The Nature is the expansion of existing nature preservation in Brani Island. It will have a limited access for people since it will be used to maintain, conserve, and restore habitats. The design of infrastructure is also limited to minimize the disturbance to nature in the area. The Nature will be the buffer between Sentosa Island and Southern Waterfront. Garden in the city is located in the heart of the site is one of theflood adaptation strategies, and is intended to bring nature back to the area. The garden in the city connects the existing buildings area with the proposed area. There are a few existing buildings which are used for gallery and office space.

THESIS

The building height is varied, with housing along waterfront limited to ten stories and then higher when it comes to the center with maximum height of 280 m (48 storeys). It will be a dense area with housing on upper levels and commercial on the ground level.

The building has rainwater harvesting system in the basement to recycle the water before it released to the sea to save energy. To help the city movement, there will be a new MRT line and sky bridges every five storeys. The design shows the connection between vertical and horizontal greenery can be made not only for aesthetic but can also be used for biodiversity, to preserve nature and create a comfortable environment for people to live, work and play. Sohat Residence is a house extension project in Jakarta. It was built in 2010. This was my first project as a junior landscape architect. The site was an empty parcel, owned for future development. The owner wanted to build a pool house and landscape both the “terrace” to the pool house and the existing house.

The Indian Cultural Center was designed to be a mixed-use area in Alachua County, Florida, USA. This 85-acre site will have a range of uses: single housing, condos, student dormitories, club house, assisted living facility (ALF), shops, convention center, temple and a fueling station. With more than 300 housing units, the building heights vary from 3 6 storeys (60 ft/18 m). The first and second floors are for commercial use and the upper floors for residential.

The assisted living facility is for those who require professional healthcare in the city of Gainesville, ranked one of the best cities to retire in the U.S. The 20,000 sq. ft. convention center accommodates 500 to 1000 people for graduations, weddings, festivals, and other celebrations.

Bike Network

Street Network

As a new development located in a TOD designated region, a public transportation node was also included to extend the existing network. As a result, the design provides a strong connection to pedestrian paths and bicycle lanes. Bringing diversity and job opportunities to the city, the complete design will be finalized in Fall 2017.

FLOOD CONDITION There is a subway station which will be the main building and restaurant/restroom on camping site. In addition, a club house will be added in the new marina to welcome visitors with yachts/ boats. These two sites are connected with pedestrian and bicycle paths and subway. Petty Island is filled with wetlands on over half of its land. The purpose of this design is to preserve the wetlands yet also allow access to visitors to be closer to the nature.

The Riverbank

COMPETITION The island can be reached by pedestrian, bicycle, tram path and boats. Only pedestrian and bicycle paths are used to get around the island. The car can be parked on public parking located on the river bank and visitors can walk around the site or take the tram along the site. It is ten feet above the water level (flood height prediction will be around ten feet in next five years). To accomodate visitor needs, there are restaurants below the bridges - the hanging restaurants - along the pedestrian path from the island to the river bank. There is also a camping site around the wetlands and along the pedestrian path - hanging campalong with bird watch towers.

The idea is to bring visitors closer to the water, especially when the flood is coming without interupting their activities and disturbing the natural habitat as well. There are also riverfront restaurants, souvenir shops, aquarium and open amphitheater along the riverfront. The restaurant is connected to the existing historical building - Delaware Generating Station- which is now used as the city power plant. In other words, the building will be changed into a museum and the restaurants will be part of the Delaware Generating Station expansion.

AMPHITHEATER

The square has different elevation add more space, create a dynamic facade of the square, and create more entertainment for visitors. The elevation varied from amphitheater, green bridge, roof garden, plaza, pond and watching tower. The amphitheater will allow the visitor to enjoy outdoor activities: art performance, concert, carnival, etc. With elevation 1 feet below ground level, the amphitheater creates a good place for acoustic performance.

Green bridge is the prototype for bigger plan linkage that gives better access to pedestrians and bicyclists without impacting the future tram line and people will feel that they walk on open/ green space. The green bridge connects to the roof garden which will take visitor from/ or underground subway from ground level. The roof garden is supported with a series of cafes and restaurants facing the historical buildings, street and amphitheater.

ANALYSIS

PART A (Extention of Florida Turnpike): 1. Development of Study Area: Four counties (Levy, Ctirus, Marion & Sumter) were merged and dissolved to get the Study Area for proposed project. Wildwood (source) & Chiefland (destination) locations were created within Study Area by adding x,y points (Latitude, Longitude). 2. Getting Required Layers: All the layers (vector & raster) needed for this project were downloaded and brought into the ArcMap. 3. Conversion of Vector Layer into Raster Layer: All the vector layers were converted into raster layers either by direct conversion using conversion tool ("To Raster", "Euclidean Distance" and "Slope"). 4. Reclassify Raster Layer: All the raster layers were reclassified based on the scale 1 (Good) to 10 (Bad). 5. Performing Surface Path (Creation of Cost Raster): Cost raster surface were created using Raster Calculator with weighting factors (given for all reclassified raster layers) . Cost Path were created using Cost Distance Raster and Cost Backlink Raster. Cost Path were converted into polyline which is the Extention of Florida Turnpike. PART B (Proposed Site for Service Plaza): 1. Getting Adjacent: Euclidean distance were used to create "Adjacent" by with the FloridaTurnpike. 2. Getting Halfway: Editor Toolbar (Split 50%) were used to get the "Halfway" distance of Florida Extention and "Halfway" points were drawn using Drawing Toolbar (point feature). 3. Reclassify Raster Layer (Soils, Flood Zone and Slope): All these raster layers were reclassified based on the scale 1 (Bad) to 10 (Good). 4. Getting Cost Raster Surface: Cost raster surface were created using Raster Calculator with weighting factors (given for all reclassified raster layers). 5. Based on Parcel Data (Size, Land Use and Cost) the Proposed Site was chosen for Service Plaza. Cost & Size of Proposed Service Plaza: 1. Cost: $70,055.10 (calculated using Levy county property appraiser) 2. Size: 63 acres (Crop Soil Class 1 and Grazing Land Soil Class 2)
