Preparation: To use the system for leg training with four channels (only quadriceps and hamstrings), connect one electrode cable to each of the connectors on the rear panel - these are labelled 1/2 and 5/6. Switch on the stimulator and check that the correct programme is selected. It is Programme One by default.
2. Apply and connect electrodes: Electrodes are applied to the skin of the thigh. Two electrodes are placed on top and two underneath each thigh. Right leg: served by Channels 1, 2 Left leg: served by Channels 5, 6 Each cable has two pairs of connectors with each pair marked A or B. Make sure that the appropriate cable has - the A pair of leads connected to the electrodes “above” (on top of) the thigh. - the B pair of leads connected to the electrodes “below” the thigh 3. Start training: Place legs in the foot rests and fix them. Place wheelchair or chair in front of bike at such a distance that the knee joints are never fully extended. Check stability of motion trainer and chair. Check position of electrodes and cables. Ensure that legs do not rub against wheelchair. Start motion trainer by pressing the large red button. 4. Choose program: After switching on the stimulator, the last programme used is always selected. In order to work with this program, press “OK” on the stimulator touch screen. 5. Warm-up, passive phase: Select a comfortable cadence for the user; set speed to at least 20 rpm. The default duration setting of Warm-up is 5 min. This is followed by a period of active stimulation and finally a cool down period. When stimulation starts press “Break” at any time to pause stimulation. Version 2: 22nd March 2011
