FIRST BALLET SCHOOL IN BELGRADE _2008, course_Project 1, Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, Serbia _professor_ Mihajlo Timotijević

Concept of the school is based on sensitive balance between intimate and public spaces. As the position of the school is in the central part of Belgrade, it was necessary to carefully protect students’ areas but at the same time, to dedicate some of them for public seeing, as it is school of performing arts. Public spaces, for school plays are on the ground floor and these spaces are transparent, while the rest of the school, all other spaces dedicated just for excersise and study, are in more opaque tones, so from outside, just the shadows of the people moving inside are visible, forming in that way a kind of mistical atmosphere.

CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH _2009, master project_theme: ‘Seven traditions’, Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade _mentor - professor_ Ivan Rašković

Observing the whole complex as a mass, there are noticed three parts that are the focus of the project. The first are the objects that will be revitalized, the second part are the objects predicted to be demolished due to the structure that is so low quality so it can’t be saved, and the third part, consists of dungeons on this location that are currently out of the use. This project is a result of research of existing traditions in Serbia, in this case, negative tradition - political irresponsability. Project is an ironic response to this tradition Master thesis as a general theme had a tradition (’Seven traditions’), inside which each student should discover unique subject considering tradition. In this work was noticed negative tradition - political irresponsability and as a result of thesis, was done a project that represents respond on it..

KINDERGARTEN _2010, competition for preliminary architectural-urban design of FIVE KINDERGARTENS in Belgrade _1st prize

The project of a kindergarten was one of the 5 projects done for competition published by City of Belgrade for kindergartens on different locations in the city. This project won the 1st prize for the location - block 61. Conceptual starting point was harmonization of influence of parametric and non-parametric factors that define the process that generates kindergarten buildings. The system of standard spatial elements was established and used for construction of typical spatial, architectural sets, in a number of options in relation to the variation of capacity and location conditions. Architectural structures are compact. Functional schemes of the buildings are subordinate to primary orientation of spaces for group care of children who develop the most favorable orientation. Scattered parts of the buildings, oriented to the South, were used to position the appropriate technology elements, that results in convenient form of the object in terms of energy efficiency. Currently this project is in a fase of construction.

CENTER FOR PROMOTION OF SCIENCE _open, international, anonymous, single stage, competition for preliminary architectural design _2010, Belgrade (Block 39), Serbia

The site/block was divided in zones according to the nature, hierarchy and relationships of various spatial contents. Accepting the open block space system of New Belgrade as an important urban heritage, the new scheme continued the tradition by using it`s postulate, anchored by the existing building of Drama Faculty. Facilities of the Centre for Promotion of Science acts as the interface, where pubic and spatial contents meet. The shape of the building inspires popular associations of contemporary science and technology. Basic element of the building is the roof plane, that, dominant in the architectural composition, defines interior space and highlights its relationship with the exterior. At the same time, the roof shell structure with two lateral cores remains the only supporting structure, overcoming the distance of 112m in single span. This project passed to the 5th round of voting.

LIVING IN THE RUINS (ABITARE LE ROVINE) _2011, course_Interior design studio, Politecnico di Milano _professors_ Andrea Branzi, Michele de Lucchi

The city of L’Aquila, which was hit by terrible earthquake in April 2009, is the starting point for wider reflection around the theme of ruins planned by Andrea Branzi and Michele de Lucchi during Interior design studio at Politecnico di Milano. In the wake of ‘culture of ruins’, which is important in Western thought, this experimental project tried to look deeper at both, the aesthetic vision which often accompanies them and dramatic side of things, that can lead to a kind of theatricalisation where ruins are seen as an autonomous expressive reality which represents, in a very fragile way a metaphor for the widespread and ongoing crisis in the contemporary world.

PICCOLO TEATRO DI MILANO EXHIBITION ‘THREEPENNY OPERA’ _2012, course_Exhibition design studio,Politecnico di Milano _professors_ Franco Origoni, Marcello Galbiati

Project is based upon the ‘Threepenny opera’ by Bertolt Brecht, primarly upon Brecht’s theory of ‘epic theater’, that was a starting point for it. Creating ‘misterious’ moments using labyrint like space, music from the theater spectacle (in english, italian and german) and different lights, means using some of the effects of ‘epic theater’ in exhibition design.

IRON WOOD _2014, competition project - Architectural folly 2014 _promoter: Socrates Sculpture Park, New York

The pavilion is an architectural landscape that explores relation between a man and his surroundings. The created structure is a sort of articial forest constructed of tin metal columns. Each column, as a man-made element, represents a natural one, a tree. Intention was to create a structure that could our an experience of varied possibilities using simple materials and furniture elements. The project at the same time represent clever use of modular elements (scaolding pipes) and elements easy to recycle (railway sleepers and if necessary, again scaolding sleepers), and provides the necessary structure for users to think about and experience the natural surroundings.

project SOFT BORDER _2014, workshop for GranitiFiandre _professors_ Giovanna Piccinno, Anne Boddington

As an initial point is taken a concept of the project done inside the Final Design Lab with the general theme - ‘in-between spaces’, located in one of the tunnels under the Central Station in Milan. Concept of the project was to create a kind of artificial forest that will be a pleasant, ‘healthy’ passage for its users, inside the space in which the level of pollution (of the air and sound pollution) is on a very high level. This project as a key words has: sound and air pollution barrier, connecting with the ambient and ‘disappearing’ in it. The structure is functioning as a sound barrier and an air filter (BioActive tiles-6mm). Using three different types of ceramic tiles (tiles with three different finishings), witn opaque, semireflecting and reflecting finishing, that can produce the effect of softly ‘disappearing’ structure.
