RAVEN COACHING STAFF H ead C oach M arcie T aylor The 2014-2015 season marks the 24th season for Marcie Taylor as the head women’s basketball coach at Anderson University. The Ravens have posted a winning record in five of the last 12 years, including a 21-7 record in 2002, which they won the HCAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division III national tournament. Taylor has twice been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Coach of the Year — in 2002 and in 2008. In each of those seasons, the Ravens won the

regular season HCAC title. The 2001-02 squad also won the HCAC Tournament Championship. Taylor has coached three HCAC Players of the Year: Angel Hall in 2001-02, and 200304 seasons and Kayla Martin in 2007-08. She has also coached three HCAC Freshmen of the Year. Taylor was a guard on the Lady Ravens from 1980-84 and graduated in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education/physical education and a minor in biology. She earned a master’s degree in exercise physiology from Ball State in 1988. Before coming to Anderson, Taylor was the head basketball coach at Bismark Junior High School for two years. She also spent one year as an assistant coach at AU before taking over the program in 1991.

Assistant Coach Chad Wetz

Assistant Coach Tim Hird

Chad Wetz enters his first season as assistant women’s basketball coach at Anderson University. Wetz comes to AU with over 20 years of coaching experience from high schools all across the state of Indiana. He has led varsity programs in boys’ and girls’ basketball, baseball, soccer, and golf. Most notably his Anderson High School “Lady Tribe” teams won three straight 4A sectionals from 2005-2007 and went on to the 2007 IHSAA Final Four, finishing with a school record 24 wins and only three losses. Wetz has been named a conference or media “Coach of the Year” four times and has collected one regional, three sectional, two county, and two conference championships. Wetz and his wife, Audrey, attend East Side Church of God with their three children, Mason, Dylan, and Rylea. “Having the opportunity to become a member of Coach Taylor’s staff is like getting a chance to come home to coach,” said Wetz. “Even though I am not an AU alumnus, my family and I have been associated with the ministries, outreach, and communities of this great college our entire lives.”

Tim Hird begins his second stint as assistant coach for the Anderson University women’s basketball team under Head Coach Marcie Taylor. Coach Hird, an AU alum and former athlete, last coached at AU in the 2004-05 season. Since then, he has been the varsity girl’s coach at Tipton High School (2005-2007), boy’s assistant at Daleville High School (2007-2012), boy’s assistant at the Anderson Preparatory Academy (201314), and for many years before was an assistant to Coach Alan Darner at Highland High School here in Anderson. Coach Hird’s coaching career spans four decades and has positively touched the lives of student athletes in Madison County. Coach Hird teaches sixth grade at Highland Middle School and attends East Side Church of God with his wife, Sandy. Mrs. Hird is a third grade teacher at Daleville Elementary.
