STREET 4-3 FOLLAND SPORTS COOK 3, 70 (PEN), 90+2, RUSHER 86

GRAY 14, MANUEL 32, ANDERS 82

WHAT’S THE STORY? Ross Cook struck in injury-time to secure a valuable six points against fellow promotion chasers Folland Sports in an entertaining 7 goal thriller at Foxcotte Park. In front of a crowd of 127, Street got off to a flying start when Cook picked up a through ball from Shane Lock to fire past the exposed Follands keeper after just 3 minutes. Folland replied back on 14 minutes when the Street midfield struggled to get back and Nathan Gray was found unmarked in the penalty area to supply a neat finish. And just after the half-hour mark they took the lead when Fabio Manuel cut in from the left to finish past O’Brien. The second half saw Street come out on the front foot and after Matt Scott was too high with an effort following a goal mouth scramble, the Street levelled in the 70th minute when substitute Danny Urry was upended by a clumsy challenge in the box and Cook sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Both sides did not appear to want a draw with substitutes from both sides used to good effect and after Cook grazed the bar at one end Follands regained the lead with an all too simple goal. A diagonal ball in from the left, the defence and goalkeeper froze and the tall Ethan Anders rose to steer the ball home with just eight minutes remaining. Five of those eight minutes had gone when New Street were awarded another free kick on the edge of the area, Whether the Follands wall was mis-aligned was difficult to tell from the side lines but Reece Rusher’s shot seemed to curl past the wall and low in to the bottom corner. 3-3 and a draw looked probably a fair result but still the icing on the cake was to come as far as New Street were concerned. Into stoppage time and Mikey Davis’s persistence won a corner on the left that he really had no right to win, Rusher’s kick cleared everybody in the box and Cook, outside the far post, took one touch and lashed the ball home to complete his hat trick. spark home euphoria and just precedefacebook.com/AndoverNewStreet the final whistle. www.ansfc.co.uk
