I graduated magna cum laude in November 2016 after 5 years of studying between Ferrara and Valparaiso. In Chile I developed my master thesis in landscape architecture, with a project of a new water infrastructure into the Atacama Desert. Over the past three years I did internships with both Italian and Chilean architectural firms, where
I worked on a variety of residential and urban planning projects for private clients and international competitions. With Tomas Ghisellini Architects we were selected as one of the 5 shortlisted projects in Europan 13 Ingolstadt. Now I'm working at Zus in Rotterdam.
My projects express my attitude of finding out solutions from different and complex contests. I am always interested in learning from fields which are not directly related to architecture, as I think they could have a lot of answers and solutions to offer. This portfolio show also my attitude about graphic design, which I think is essential to express and convey whatever idea.

Aquastructura A different water infrastructure for the Atacama Desert Aquastructura analyses the impact of desalination process in the Atacama Desert, in northern Chile. Due to the increasing drought, in recent years many desalination plants were built to supply water to copper mining. Large underground aqueducts convey water from desalination plants near the sea to mine areas, as far as 190 kilometers from the coast and at even over 4000 m altitude. In this way a new inverse artificial hydrography was created, from the sea to the Andes mountain range. These new water infrastructures have a major impact on the landscape as Roman aqueducts do, but in a different way: while Roman aqueducts affect the landscape with their architectural presence, mining aqueducts, invisible because underground, modify the landscape bringing water to an environment where there is a shortage of this resource. Unlike Roman aqueducts, mines infrastructures go out of use
in a very short time as they serve copper mining and a mine usually lasts no more than 20 years. When a mine close all its infrastructures are left, creating a new landscape of gigantic industrial relicts in the desert. Aquastructura aims to recycle these infrastructures, using them in the fight against drought, as it is already happening successfully in Israel and Australia. The water plants examined are close to the Valley of CopiapĂł, the last large farming area in northern Chile. In recent years, drought and water use by mines endangered agriculture. A reuse of desalination plants could solve at least part of the water problems of this area, providing potable water for inhabitants and ensuring irrigation. The originality of the project lies in the simultaneous use of the desalination process and the water purification one, within a new water park usable for outdoor and sport activities which is designed following the water paths.

Chile does not have a long history of desalination projects, but this situation has changed recently. As a result of the extreme conditions of the Atacama Desert, the mining companies that own the biggest copper mines in the world were forced to find a new way to get water for their activities. That is why they have started building large desalination plants all along the coast of North Chile. Large underground aqueducts convey water from desalination plants near the sea to mine areas, as far as 190 kilometres from the coast and at even over 4000 m altitude. In this way a new inverse artificial hydrography was created, from the sea to the Andes mountain range. This system has grown quickly and nowadays it is longer and has a bigger flow rate than the natural hydrography of this region. The Atacama Desert is not an easy place to live in. Its colonization is a story of mining rushes that have been happening since the Spanish Conquest. That yearning for minerals caused the foundation of new cities and the creation of infrastructures that have allowed human settlement here. The history of the human presence in the Atacama Desert is about those infrastructures that were built into an untouched landscape and left there when they became useless: the legacy of the gold rush, the silver rush and finally the copper one is a landscape of giant obsolete relics.

The Copiapó Valley is the most northern cultivated valley in Chile, in the deep desert. Copiapó River flows in this area, allowing agriculture and the presence of Copiapó, one of the two big cities in the Atacama Desert that are not on the coastline. This valley is interesting because shows the relation between the natural hydrology of the river and the artificial one created over the last years by the desalination plants and their aqueducts. This area has been suffering a long period of drought, which affects agriculture and threatens water supply for the city of Copiapó. Solutions have to be found to solve this problem. A solution to water scarcity is already there in Copiapó Valley. According to the projects the mines which are operating now will be closed by the 2030s. At that moment desalination plants, built to provide them water, will become obsolete too. The strategy is to consider those industrial infrastructures as components of a larger ecosystem, where natural and man-made elements coexist. To solve drought problem obsolete water infrastructures are re-used to create a hybrid water system with the Copiapó river. The upper section of the valley will continue to use water from the river, while the lower areas will receive water from the desalination plants.
By 2036 two of the three desalination plants in this area will become useless because the mines to which they supplied water will close. That does not mean desalination plants will be obsolete: they could still continue working with a regular maintenance. This particular type of desalination plants operate with membranes that have to be replaced periodically every 6-7 years. Water that earlier was used for mining industry can now be allotted first of all to satisfy the water needs of the Copiapó city and other villages in the lowest section of the Copiapó Valley. This new water supply could also solve water problems related to tourism and contribute to improve it. For example Caldera and Bahia Inglesa are two of the main tourist attractions of the region and nowadays suffer water scarsity during high touristic season. The remaining quantity of water will be used to irrigate the V and the VI sector of Copiapó River which are the areas that receive less water because they are the farthest ones from Lautaro Basin and wells.

19 Petit Mouton is not a living unit as usual. It is designed as a piece of furniture for the quarry or the neighborhood spaces. Like a sideboard in a living room, it hides inside a lot of areas in only 6

square meters. From the luggage storage, the bunk beds for 4 people, to the flap desk that allows working sessions for 2 operators. Like a sideboard, Petit Mouton has many openings: from the 2 gates which expand the interior space outside, to capture Sicilia’s climate, to
the upside windows that run 4 sides. This openings protect the unit from direct sun while permit privacy and air circulation.

start an amphibious process of urban regeneration. Petit Mouton has notable ancestors: from Wright’s Ocatilla Desert Camp to Le Corbusier’s Petit Cabanon. It has the aim of providing a minimum space in common with
them. A self-built area, where is possible to laze, rest, but also (why not?) to think how to improve an area, a city. Maybe laying down on one of the upper beds, looking at the neighborhood that surrounds you, above the walls of the quarry.

23 A peoplestructure Ingolstadt’s Rollercoaster merges panoramic german mountains and protecting city porches all in one! The architectural system is just like a mountain chain, simultaneously inhabitated under and above, in and out. We detected lots of vertical buildings in the historic urban core, some of them are above represented.

Ingolstadt really loves towers, the project raises an innovative trasparent spiral one just at the end of the ride! The time has come for a satellite-toshiny star metamorphosis, a firstly social and urban transformation able to reactivate the heart of the historical body. So here it is: a new organic network of fruitive occasions, activities, flows, uses and interchangeable social habits will work for the city to
the same purpose and through the same operation logic of a new highly connecting light infrastructure. This will not something for cars, motor vehicles or velocity shifts, but a new artificial landscape for people only; a totally reversible, modifiable and variously composable slow-action public space system. This will not be an infra-structure, but a nonstandard meeting, communication and social new square, a place for people, a peoplestructure!

The proposal aims to release public spaces from cars and give these areas back to citizens. In this neighborhood the majority of the flats have a private car park underneath. The project assembles that parking areas to save space for gardens and public spaces.
In a second stage, new connections are opened between the existing paths to overcome the dead-end roads structure.
The new public areas are called “district rooms”: public outdoor living rooms from inhabitans. They are marked by active walls with vertical gardens and forniture for outdoor activities.

The project aims to open the area to the outside creating a new pedestrian bridge over the river. Shop areas along the river side are improved with the elimination of opaque walls. This creates a shopping walk with the new gardens as background.

A system of balconies is designed between residential buildings. These spaces suggest new relationships among private space and public one. This is the theatre in Shakespeare's quote: streets and squares are the stage of an Italian theatre that is the whole Carrozzone area.

Carrozzone is a mix of production workshops, residential buildings and shops built from the 1960s. Nowadays some of the industrial buildings are empty, other were replaced by new flats. Even tought, in the North of the project site there is still an active industrial area near
residential buildings. New light industries workshops with showrooms are designed inside the project masterplan to preserve typological diversity. Along with them there is a dining hall for workers.

The tower is divided vertically into two sections: the lower one is open to public functions, while the other is designed for machinery and led screens.
Between the two parts of the building there is a panoramic platform which faces the city and Calatrava’s buildings. The terrace is dug inside the shape of the tower and creates an opening to the three Calatrava’s bridges.

The project wants to highlight the facades of the square introducing a new shape in the middle of the space: a big fountain. This element creates a mechanism of reflections for the whole buildings: from Teatro della Scala to Palazzo Marino. The new lap is intentionally over-shaped to amplify the perception of this space and the surrounding buildings.

41 The typical features of the site persist in the architecture features of the buildings on the outside, while the inside takes a substantial reversal that describes a space free from any anachronistic element, involving the entire building and releasing from each deck structure.

43 The better way to develop a new concept of winery is starting from grape. Grape cycle defines Valpolicella landscape with row directions and colour changing during the year. The new winery shows these elements.

A wall of grapes grows up in the core of the project, between the old and the new building. Throught glass walls this element is visible from the street. It shows the cycle of grape, changing the colour perception of the building season by season. Valpolicella landscape in this area is

We keep the existing warehouse and we insert 19 metal boxes, covered by polyurethane. These “containers� host offices and co-working spaces in leasing. The orange boxes in the plant are mobile to allow more space configurations.

47 ZIP is the main industrial area in Padova. Due to a outsourcing of companies, some of the building are now empty, expecially after the 2008 economic crisis. The aim of the project is to stimulate affluence of Padova’s inhabitants in this section of the city building a

new infrastructure for events and developing a water connection to the city using Piovego river. In a second stage, Hangar wants to encourage new industrial investments creating spaces for co-working, offices and conference halls.
The final stage of the project is a suspended green way which connects the river docking with the inward area. In this location a multi-storey car park is created to relieve streets from stationary cars presence.

Via della Navigazione Interna street event ZIP has 50000 square meters of roads. During night that spaces are empty and potentially dangerous. During factories closing time, Hangar uses these roads as temporary space
for cultural activities. ZIP can accomodate events that are difficult to organize in the city centre due to noise or light problems. The plant above shows via della Navigazione Interna’s event configuration.
The traffic island is sopraelevated and can house mobile box with toilets, tickets points and storage spaces.
